Cristian Dixon to defense? Did we know this?

I'm a bit concerned about our WR depth - any thoughts on which position he may be playing now? CB?

We just won the National title...WR may actually look terrifying...but I trust the coaches.....because they just won the national title...and if our WRs are NOT good next year....we won the 2023 national title.

That not throwing the ball enough in 21 vs Washington was a 'real live boy' moment for a lot of people. So many hands. So much wringing. If this board had a fainting couch it would have collapsed under the collective weight of volume of fainting about the world's most insignificant occurance in a blowout win against a team who's only skill on defense were their corners.

Fast forward almost exactly 2 years a 2 months and Michigan beats Penn State by running the ball 32 consecutive times.

It doesn't make a lot of sense for Will to portal. Maybe he can make incrementally more NIL money, but look at other highly rated DBs who transfered. They typically didn't win, and weren't developed in line with their star ratings. Neither applies to Will. Even if the team is mediocre next year, he will have won 2 B1G titles, a national championship, and developed into a probable 1st round pick. He's better served being a locker room leader (NFL teams do evaluate this) and graduating (or coming close) than getting an extra $300k in NIL by transferring. It would be different if his team was 8-4 for 2 years and he was in UDFA territory.

Wrong

If I am an elite Sophomore I go to the portal to get the most bucks possible. From my school or not.

I respect Drake Maye for not doing it last year - lots of reports he was getting constantly tagged by other schools with $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Can you imagine Trevor Lawrence in the portal after year 2? He would be getting $5M

MH Jr should have put himself up for sale last offseason too. This is the system the NCAA built with no guard rails.

Its disgusting but thats the system

I have no idea how it works now - I assume Graham Grant and Johnson are going to get a lot of feelers from OSU and SEC teams and Miami. Its gross.

We've got alot of freshman talent from last year that will get their chance to shine.  It's way too early to know what the state of the depth is.

Besides, It's a huge boon to have a receiver turn corner just for the ability to catch the ball.  Anytime Sainristil got his hands on the ball it was pretty much an automatic pick

We still have time to nab a transfer or two.  With the way this offense is run, I'd be more worried if we didn't have Loveland coming back and a stable of running backs more than a wide receiver. We use these things 80% of the time.  The fact still stands that we have no idea the state of it before we start claiming the sky is falling in our WR room

The team will have plenty of strengths next year, but WR could limit us. For those who may be forgetful, go back and watch the 2017 team with Kekoa Crawford, Eddie McDoom, and a quartet of very promising true freshmen. It... did not go well.

But hey, that's NEXT season's problem. I'm gonna enjoy this championship for a while.

Morgan is already better and has contributed more to a winning team than any receiver you just named. He’s just getting started. Morris will be a playmaker next season. He had a few small injury issues but he’s healthy now and will have a solid season next year. Michigan typically only runs out 2-3 receivers plus tight ends. Morgan and Morris will feature a lot next year, just like Wilson and Johnson have the last few. Moore and English will both get playing time and both can be playmakers.

WR depth?  Screw it, 4 TE sets. Maybe even 6 TE sets with a direct snap to a TE and then a lead TE.

Also, I’m all for this. Sainristil turned out pretty good.

sainristil is a great athlete and 2 way star in high school who shouldve started out on D.  also hed already made an impact on O.  simply a very good football player.

wish dixon every success but seems more like the cases of big guys shuffling bw OL/DL with limited to zero game impact

Best wishes to Dixon. If he ends up meaningfully contributing in the defensive backfield, it would be a great example of internal scouting and player development.
