At What Point Does Warde’s Brand Taint Santa’s?

Submitted by MichiganiaMan on February 1st, 2024 at 4:59 PM

Need a distraction for an unpleasantly not slow news day. And FYI, this is not meant to be a Warde bashing post…

How long before Warde’s increasingly toxic brand begin to spoil the Wolverine sports fan good will for Santa Ono? And what would it take to get there?

The great thing about being negative is that a person can always be at least almost right:

1. The worst happens. The predictor can say he saw it coming.

2. Some bad things happen. Nothing's perfect, so point to all the bad things making you virtually correct.

3. Good happens? Even here, the doomsayer can take credit for identifying a bad thing, which alerted others to avoid it.

I am truly amazed in this day and age, when we are all supposedly much more intelligent and enlightened, that some still go with the, "I don't mean to be rude/crass/petty/etc., but here I am being rude/crass/petty/etc." Astounding

I'd love to hear what you thought would come of a post that is a simple variation on about 30 others that have been brought to the board over the past couple of weeks.

I love Ono's passion for M athletics, and that's a clear differentiator between him and Schliss. But, he's not an athletic director. He has other things to worry about. He already handled the sign stealing with aplomb and recognizes the importance of football to the university.

So....it would take a lot more than I'd care to day-nightmare about

not sure it will fall on Ono but from a pure fireworks standpoint if the spring portal season goes sideways and any of a few key players depart its gonna be bad times.

Frankly, I don't give a shit about the Wolverine Sports Fan's perspective of Santa Ono.

What matters to me is the Wolverine Sports Donor's perspective of Santa Ono, and I would imagine that Santa's role as an administrator and fundraiser means that the athletic department suddenly foundering on the NIL front would be of major concern to him.

And I'll note that Warde's brand is not toxic; his brand is one of inaction. He's no Dave Brandon in that he's a slimeball - he just doesn't seem to hit the home runs he needs to.

Can we just create a snowflakes thread where people who want to blame everything bad on Warde just have a place to themselves?

We've gotten to the point where threads start with "not to bash Warde" and then the next sentence is ransom shit bashing Warde.  Might as well keep it contained.
