Look, I don't really care about the "OT or not OT" debate or how informative a thread title is. But writing one that's so long that it takes up five lines on the sidebar isn't very polite.

It's not about scheduling difficulty. It's that we always played one conference rival at home every year and now we're playing two one year and zero the next. It makes the schedule crappy every even-numbered year.

That's a pretty long headline. You probably shoved multiple threads off the sidebar with it.

The recruits are referring to the team they'll be on in the future. It's not that hard to understand.

This isn't like RichRod being asked about Carr or Hoke about RichRod. Harbaugh is Shaw's mentor. They forged a strong relationship. It's to be expected that people would ask Shaw about him, just as they ask Harbaugh about Bo.

With the change, can they fix the MSU/OSU double-rotation issue?

If you click on the link and read the comments, there are some made by our former coaches, which is kind of surreal.

It's weird. Joppru and I were the same year. I guess a lot has changed. Phone cards, man, I remember when those were like gold.

Funny, but they could have easily found an actual photo of Michigan Stadium bleachers.

I'm really surprised how few players there are in Florida given its huge talent pool. Hard to believe Michigan has about the same number.

Every school gives out honorary degrees. That in itself is fine. What's cheap is doing it as a way of getting around the "must have a degree" requirement.

Those aren't Michigan-shaped biscuits. They're Lower Peninsula-shaped biscuits.
Poor U.P. never gets any respect.

And his team didn't win enough. That's not all his fault, obviously, but setting statistical records on mediocre teams doesn't have the same impact in peoples' minds as doing it on B1G championship squads.

We have a little more self-respect as an institution than that.

Agree completely. They could have tweaked the system in a way that still honored the players while toning down some of the attention-grabbing stuff.

Like others, I agree that the idea was good (a way to honor past greats and not run out of numbers) but they didn't pull it off right. Oh well.
|4 days 1 hour ago||The fact that in 130+ years||
Well, that and the fact that we realized sometime around the 1970s that we needed to stop retiring jerseys to keep enough numbers in circulation. That's what bothers me about the retired numbers. We started retiring them back when there were only 40-50 guys on the roster and there was no concern about running out. Then roster sizes ballooned and we stopped completely, so now we have this situation where all of the retired numbers (except Howard's) are from guys who played in the 1950s or earlier.

I loved the A-Train. I was in school for most of his time. He was pretty fast once he got going - you didn't see him get caught from behind much.
Watching these clips gets me nostalgic about our running game - but it will come back.

Mack Brown was 62 when he stepped down - the same age as Carr when he retired, and only two years older than Bo when he did. I'm not sure you can compare that to JoePa hanging on into his 80s.

WRs don't take all that many hits. If a pass isn't thrown to them, they won't get hit.
In Meyer's offense a QB likely will take more in a typical game.

This is his team:
They're in Pro B, the second tier of the French system, so he probably won't make a ton of money, but it's still cool for him.

Here's Mo's record. His win percentage here was .758. Mo's first three years were very good, but then he had back to back 8-4 seasons with teams that were very talented.
And yes, ND's wins over us were incredibly maddening. They beat us in 1988 (with a team that went on to win the national title) without scoring an offensive TD, as they kicked four field goals while we missed one in the final seconds.
Then in 1989 they returned two kickoffs for TDs (why kick it to him, Bo?) and won by five.
Then in 1990 we led by 10 going into the fourth quarter and gave up two TDs to lose. One was on a pass that was tipped by a Michigan defender and caught in the endzone IIRC.
Needless to say, it was quite satisfying to finally drive a stake through them in 1991 on Desmond's catch.

Fanhood = fandom plus manhood?
Anyway, for me at this point it's Michigan football and basketball far above everything else. My interest in pro sports has really diminished. Even if the Detroit teams come back into prominence, I don't know if I'll get into them like I did before.

Mo went 6-24-3 at Illinois. His successor, Mike White, went 47-41-3.
Mo was a better coach than that record suggests, but Illinois is not an impossible school to win at. They usually have the occasional good season, although they struggle to sustain it.
|1 week 2 days ago||You're thinking of the MSU||
You're thinking of the MSU game. It wasn't the second quarter that was the problem but the third. We were down 13-10 at halftime and started Henson (who had thrown our only TD) for the third. But he threw an INT and we fell behind 27-10 when Brady returned.
In the other game we lost (Illinois) the rotation wasn't the issue so much as that both our offense (with Brady) and defense fell apart in the second half. We led 27-7 in the third quarter and lost 35-29.
