MGoReader Appreciation Thread
Let's all just be happy you people are you people. Even if 5-star defensive ends can be convinced of things like Alabama has a civil engineering program, you stay true to blue, except when you're distraught with crushing ennui, which we understand.
Anyway this week, when you had every reason to shut off, you instead came on here and argued about technical details of offensive playcalling in a civil and detailed manner. When Michigan lost out on what seemed to be a lock on the nation's top-rated prospect, you mostly wished him luck and refrained from making asses of yourselves. When you make This Week in Schadenfreude, it's for magnificent charts, as opposed to the typical mix of hate and stupid.
This, as much as the content, is why MGoBlog is the Saban of the sports blogging world: with this fanbase we are smack dab in the middle of the richest goldmine of intelligent sports fans in the country, and it shows.
Hail to you!

This is indeed an appreciation thread above appreciation threads. Thanks to Brian, Seth and the staff for having us as guests in this space, especially those of us who decided to hang out a while and take up space in the spare room.

Everytim I see the word "Saban" without "Nick" in front of it, my mind automatically reads "Satan" in my head. I can't help it.

Thanks, Seth!
And to avoid the 15th Appreciation thread of the day, I'll throw my thanks to the mods here.

Thanks Seth.

I like a number of posters, but I am happy at times like these to have his laugh-out-loud (at least to me) posts. The court jester is a far more important role than it's usually credited as being.
November 14th, 2013 at 5:19 PM ^
His Dudeness and Section 1 are truly two of my favorite posters. I'd also like to give a shout-out to jmblue, whose posts have emanated calm and sound reason for years now.
November 15th, 2013 at 8:58 AM ^
Appreciate it.
I like to think I don't try to offend people, but sometimes I do. I am a 30 year old dude with a job that gives me plenty of extra time (clearly) and I get bored as shit and I dick around on this site.
I've loved Michigan since the old man laid out the cheese and crackers in our crumby ass basement with orange and brown shag carpet and lime green paisley wallpaper to watch the Rose Bowl against Washington. I grew up thinking Michigan was the very best thing in the world. It drove me to get my graduate degree after fucking up my whole life to the point that there was no waaay I would get into Michigan for undergrad. It was my last shot to be a MIchigan Man and I did it.
I hold the RR years a little tighter than most folks because those were the years I was in the student section. I bought the maize student t-shirt. I stood the whole game and nobody yealled "down in front." . No matter what happened on the field I was just happy to be there. I am proud to be one of the few who can now stand and clap when any alumn is honored on the field.
At the end of the day I just hope I make some folks laugh. I don't know, man.

I'm sure this is the sleep deprivation talking, but I welcomed my first child into the world about a week ago, family is doing great, and my UM engineering degree is still opening doors for me professionally a decade+ after I graduated as well as exposing me to a spectacular group of alumni and fans. I wish Mr. Hand the best, but I'm content that I chose UM and even if the football team loses a couple of games, that won't change. Plus, I liked through the Ellerbe and Amaker years with the basketball team; I can survive only having one of the best recruiting classes in the nation and a team that is still reasonably competitive despite some clear issues.

Congrats on your new little one, Bronxblue. Your roller coaster ride is just beginning and that little bundle will indeed bring you much joy.
November 15th, 2013 at 8:59 AM ^
Congrats on the little one. And yes, from this point forward, it's always going to be the perma-sleep deprivation talking for you. At some point you just have to accept that you're going to be a little bit weirder of a person than you once were since your brain is no longer functioning at full capacity...but it's worth it.
November 15th, 2013 at 11:12 AM ^
you mean Michigan offers an engineering degree? Dammit, we should have told Hand that!

I still feel like I just got sucker punched. From mind-numbing coaching decisions, to poor play and a lack of improvement, to missing out on Hand, this fall has been harder to handle than most. I just hope we don't lose out and have Peppers walk. I'm still interested, still sane, and will watch every game with anticipation. But, I can't say it hasn't sucked some of my enthusiasm or positivity.
