The funniest thing is those kinds of threads are always the best.  Its definitely trial by fire for noob posters but it helps to develop a thicker skin and hone Internetz posting skills.  That said, I sure wish I could get a few of my old threads back...

FWIW

FWIW, its my understanding that he did not miss his calling to politics.  I heard that he seriously considered and wanted to run for Governor but was convinced not to do so because of certain skeletons in his closet.  I'm not sure what they are, but they are serious enough to convince one of the most self-absorbed and self-important people I've ever encountered to not run for office.  But you're exactly right - his personality is perfect for politics.

I tweeted a Brian during the game about the same thing that Carr spoke to the team about:  passion breeds passion.  If one guy is passionate about something then its hard not to feel at least a little more interested about it yourself.  Seeing Smith out there running inspired no doubt inspired his teammates, as did seeing Harbaugh freaking out on the sideline.  THIS is what has been missing from the team in the past 4 years.  Harbaugh is the anti-Hoke, the opposite of a down-home good-old boy and is exactly what was needed.  IMO, there is nothing worse in sports than watching unispired play and this is the first time I've seen some true passion out of a Michigan team.  GG!

Interview with Desmond Howard...

Brought to you by Goodyear blimp?  LOL why was he talking about the blimp?

Thats a great game too!  I've just never played so I can't really lead a KSP club myself, which is what I'm doing for this Minecraft club.  If a parent at the school wanted to do KSP instead I'd support the heck out of it.  Anything that gets the kids to focus on something enriching and not standardized test related even if just for an hour every other week is good IMO.

Thank you very much!  I'm not a League man myself but I know people who love it.

Its a different world from when we were kids - There are Youtubers that make MILLIONS from recording and uploading videos of them playing video games (PewDiePie made over $7 million last year!).  Its insanity but its the world we live in.  And Minecraft is actually constructive compared to other games I play so I'm all for my kids playing it as long as they do just like you mention.

Thanks a million!  Very cool of you.  Very cool indeed!

LOL yeah that same one.  But

LOL yeah that same one.  But this time it will actually be in a controlled environment with an eye towards educating, which you might appreciate as a teacher... I'm going to have the kids do research projects on architecture around the world, for example.  It could be really enriching - the potential is there.

Yeah, its really sad.  And

Yeah, its really sad.  And this school is one of the more worse off in that respect.  Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are and have been in bad shape for years.

Good points

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minecraft

Minecraft is one of the best-selling video games in history with over 70 million copies sold.  Its an open-world game where players can design, create, build, farm, collaborate, explore, etc.  Its actually a pretty amazing thing and, as a parent, I've watched my kids do some really cool things with the game.  Many magnet schools use it as a teaching tool and that's what we're trying to do here (see http://minecraftedu.com/).  But, like you mention, its really a motivator for the bigger task of replacing the computers.

For those of you smarter than

For those of you smarter than me out there:  Has there ever been a more impressive staff assembled than this one at least as far as previous coaching experience?  Have any new head coaches hired in the last few years brought in such talent?

Also, any idea what kind of money these guys are making?  It'll be interesting to see the AD spend on coaches this year compared to last....

Other than money - which I've

Other than money - which I've read might not even reach the Michigan amount offered - I can't for the life of me figure out why he'd want to coach the Raiders.  That team is absolute garbage and the owner is a nutjob.  What's the appeal??

Thats strange because I heard

Thats strange because I heard from a very reliable source that it was Thornton that Michigan offered the $48 million cash to at signing....

OR he could be an assistant

OR he could be an assistant to the agent gone rogue ... I've been following him and he seems as credible as anyone else, which is not saving much granted.

The handler probably should

The handler probably should have fed the dog before the competition though....  LOL

Awwwww.  U mad bro?

I can only assume that there

I can only assume that there are confidentialily provisions that go along with these kinds of offers, in which case it would be a breach of confidentiality on the agent's part if he did it without Harbaugh's permission.  But maybe the agent-client relationship is different from the attorney-client relationship....

I agree that college football

I agree that college football is like the minor leagues.  No question.  But who in the world hasn't wished at some point in their careers that they could go back to college?  Hell I wish that every damn day!

The fact of the matter is he may make less money at Michigan but he'll be the king of the program (and probably campus too).  At an NFL team there's at least 2-3 players that get more publicity and hold more import in a franchise.  He'll encounter the same resistance from some players that don't like his approach (all NFL teams have those prima donnas) that he allegedly gets in San Franciso.  And depending on the franchise a head coach has at least 2 senior managers (owner(s) and GM).

At the end of the day, this will be a change-of-lifestyle decision.  I may be ignorant of the world but I made this same kind of choice and it was the best decision of my life.  Maybe he'll be smart enough to do the same....

EDIT:  This was meant as a reply to Brodie

Thanks for posting.
I say

Thanks for posting.

I say leverage away, NFL!  Bring it, and if you win, good for you.  Michigan throws out its best offer and says top it.  And if someone does and Harbaugh wants the money more than going back home to Ann Arbor and saving his alma mater, go for it.  But this'll be the last chance he gets to come back I suspect and hope.

Set the table.  You don't like the food, get the fuck out of the house.

No no no.  Its neither.

No no no.  Its neither.  Hackett offered him access to the M solar-powered car.  They heard from third-party sources that he really wanted to travel across the country in that bad boy.

No Cowherd is wrong.  JUCOs

No Cowherd is wrong.  JUCOs are not going to be part of this arrangement.  I heard through respected channels that all academic restrictions are going to be removed as far as football recruiting is concerned.  There'll be no reason to recruit JUCOs because Harbaugh will be able to get these kids right out of high school.

Do people really think an initial offer would include something like the ability to recruit JUCOs?  It MIGHT include reference to the private jet but I highly doubt its even that specific.  These reporters are so fucking stupid.

Its a really shitty feeling,

Its a really shitty feeling, isn't it!  I never thought I would reach this point, where one of the things I always looked forward to is now something I avoid.  And I blame Dave Brandon and Brady Hoke.

The sad thing is that it has

The sad thing is that it has been like this throughout Michigan history (as I'm sure you know).  Michigan has been notorious for failing to match an opponent's energy level, especially underdogs that want to beat the big, bad Wolverines.  And its why Michigan seems to fail to blow out teams that should never be able to hang around.  Its always puzzled me and I've always blamed it on coaching but maybe its just the something that Michigan will never be able to match?  Either way, its annoying as hell.

I guess I'm a fair weather

I guess I'm a fair weather fan now (30 years of watching, attended undergrad, donated to AD, etc. notwithstanding) but I had a great weekend because I chose not to watch the game.  I DVRed it just in case they won or something great happened but I don't have the time or patience to watch this team play anymore.  If I lived in the area and had tickets I'd probably go because, well, I'm a robot.  But there's lots of better TV to watch and/or video games to play for fun.  Watching Michigan games is no longer fun.

I love how everyone

I love how everyone references Brandon's time "playing" under Bo.  Did he even see any real game time?

Brandon flat out stated that

Brandon flat out stated that he would be sitting in on Rodriguez's coaches meetings back when he was first hired.  I assume he said that in hopes that fans would feel like they could trust the system more than before but i thought it was a fucking joke that he'd take time out of his day to do that.  But he said it.  And I have no reason to think that changed once Hoke was hired.

It IS surprising to hear that Hoke isn't in the film meetings to but, honestly, can things get any worse optically at this point?  Its just another drop in the bucket, true or not.

Someone should post a game of

Someone should post a game of MadLibs using quotes from his statements.  That would be spectacular!

What a self-important prick.

What a self-important prick.  I'm sure the coordinators love to have him there.  "Wow, what a great boss," they probably think to themselves.  "He's got countless other sports to be concerned about, not to mention all the other administrative stuff, but he still finds time to help micromanage tasks that he knows nothing about."
