probably wasn't his choice to grow up in Brooklyn so with a choice of where to live for the first time, he chose warmer weather. Nothing wrong with that.

at least in winter.
The older I get, the more I have come to accept the difference. I hate winter here in NYC, except when it snows, but we are lightweights when it comes to putting up with difficult winters. Every time I start to really complain, I check out the weather in the midwest, and realize we are in the peewee leagues of harsh winters.
New York is right in between mid-Atlantic and Northeastern.

from the weekend he was there.
The wind pierces in the midwest. I remember how cold it was the day of UM-OSU 1997 (I visited UM friends). But that night crossing the diag - holy shit, that was some next level cold.

wish we had room on the support staff for his georgia bound coaches.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:13 PM ^
No kidding I wonder how many they had to hire to get that guy.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:14 PM ^
Hiring his coach had to help them.
Can't complain because we've done it too. I think Harbaugh did it because he felt they were a great coach. Maybe it was the same for Georgia but you can't discount the bagmen.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:29 PM ^
We've hired coaches of elite recruits. It has an impact. People the kids feel comfortable with end up in the program with the top recruit. Family members probably support having a coach who helped get the kid to that point at their university. It's permissible and impactful.
We probably don't need to escalte the bagman comments or comparing it to Treadwell. We got beat for this recruit. We wish him well and move on to the next.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:43 PM ^
for Partridge and Bush to get the Jersey kids and the FL kids so nothing really wrong with this. Certainly can't throw stones in our glass house.

This is kind of a huge recruiting loss. I think after last night he was our biggest target left on the board. Hard to be upset after getting DPJ, but this sucks a lot.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:06 PM ^
Najee Harris is easily the biggest target left, but he's up there. Tough miss.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:18 PM ^
Forgot about him. Also this hurts worse after sitting through that fucking concert.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:35 PM ^
Disagree - Harris is a luxury (admittedly a very large one), but we don't really need him like we needed a potentially college-ready OT like Wilson.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:48 PM ^
RB isn't nearly the need that OT is for us right now. Plus, running backs are commodities that are far less differentiated. There's a reason so many OTs go in the top 10 in the NFL draft and RBs rarely ever do anymore. RBs depend on the OL. A good RB will have a much more difficult time making any old OL look good, but a good OL can make any old RB look very good. OL comes first, everything else follows.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:50 PM ^
Isaiah Wilson isn't college ready though. People keep saying that but Sam Webb, who would know better than most anybody here, disagrees.
December 16th, 2016 at 1:41 PM ^
Linemen need a lot of technique and work on awareness of what to do in order to be college ready. Wilson has good size, but the technique and assignment aspect is one in which he needs some experience, he's not college ready, but has a high ceiling.
In other words I doubt he would have helped next year.

Can any of these great receivers we're recruiting play tackle?
December 16th, 2016 at 12:12 PM ^
Wow did that kid pass up an opportunity.
Good luck to him.
Georgia comes out of nowhere late to inexplicably nab him. Bagmen gonna bag man.
Our OLine depth is a fucking catastrophe if we don't land Filiaga.

Dolla dolla bills, yall.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:04 PM ^
Not sure why he'd choose a 7-5 team with a second year head coach after a fly-by visit. Whatever, young man, good luck to you there. Enjoy the anonymity a mediocre team in the mediocre SEC East will bring you.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:13 PM ^
I'll have you know that Georgia's loss to Vanderbilt was broadcast on the SEC Network!
December 16th, 2016 at 12:04 PM ^
but we're still 2 for 3 this week of Commitmas and we landed DPJ and are on track for a huge haul with lots more good things to come.
Best of luck to Mr. Wilson.
Next on the docket!

Can't believe I wasted 30 minutes of my life to get sucker punched in the nuts.
Oh well, good luck to the kid.
In Harbaugh we trust.

How is Georgia having such a good recruiting year? This just doesn't make sense to me.

Must've been that impressive 7-5 season they had. Huh?

December 16th, 2016 at 12:33 PM ^
Georgia is nearly always in the top-10 recruting classes. Good year or bad , it doesn't matter.
It's one of the top jobs in college football IMO.
December 16th, 2016 at 1:07 PM ^
Which makes Georgia football one of the most underachieving entities of all time.
December 16th, 2016 at 12:35 PM ^
The fact is that Georgia is a very good program - if not on par with the likes of Alabama, Michigan, osu, and USC, at least not more than a step behind. They always recruit well. In the last 15 years, they've had a top 12 recruiting class every year (Top 10 except for one year at #11 and another year at #12) per the 247 composite.
Michigan, by contrast, has had years ranked 14, 17, 20, 26, and 37. The point is that they've consistently recruited as well as or better than Michigan since 2001.
December 16th, 2016 at 1:43 PM ^
Georgia is a historically strong program in a talent rich area with an involved fanbase and a history of success. I'd be more shocked if a single 7-5 year led to them recruiting poorly. They are always going to recruit well, that shouldn't be a shock.

high upside, not even remotely close to being ready to start right away.
Sounds like he could be great, but sounds more like a redshirt on a high level team than a starter.
