|12/12/2018 - 12:17pm||You're listing guys like Joe…||
You're listing guys like Joe Cremo. I've watched a bunch of Villanova games this year. There's a reason Paschall is being asked to do so much. There's a lack of legit options and a marked lack of overall athleticism. They'll be good down the road, for sure, but this year, I just don't see them having the players to have a great year. It's hard to see guys like Swider being major factors this year.
|12/11/2018 - 9:34pm||I want to tell them to go…||
I want to tell them to go delete some fucking texts but I just don't have the heart
|12/11/2018 - 9:30pm||They just don't have a lot…||
They just don't have a lot of talent this year, and Penn is very solid.
|06/06/2018 - 2:18pm||This got legitimately…||
This got legitimately terrifying.
Thank the Lord.
|04/24/2018 - 1:31am||He had some unbelievable hustle plays over the years||
plays you only make if you're playing basketball with peak awareness.
I wonder how worn down he was by the NC game. Di Vincenzo was just unconscious but MAAR had so many minutes on his legs by that point of the season.
|04/03/2018 - 2:16am||I'm stubborn but I don't accept that they solved our defense||
Our offense begged them again and again to just kill us and finally they killed us.
I don't know if TV could convey the dejection and depletion of throwing up such a barrage of missed shots. Of knowing no one but Moe had any confidence in their outside shot or any idea where their shot was going.
I strongly feel our offense tonight broke our defense.
I don't think they figured it out, I think Divencenzo was unconscious, but I think also the will to get stops and to finish stops with the defensive rebound just eventually leaves you when you know you'll never score.
|04/03/2018 - 1:37am||Or it might mean that Georgetown, and St Johns, and UConn||
and Pitt and so on all stepped into a massive crater and Nova gets all the players who might have gone there in the past.
Because of that, I'm not ready to point fingers at Jay Wright.
|03/31/2018 - 3:39pm||Well, this was fun and interesting||
maddening at times, but an interesting back and forth on the troubled soul of a fanbase cobbled together of many types from many geographic regions.
No more arguing this close to game time.
Even if your post above made me temporarily hate you, to each their own, and may the deity bless you in his or her own way.
We all have a common desire in 2.5 hours, and that is to disappoint that very sweet bobblehead/sister of the cloth. Oh how I hate being in that position. But WE NEEDS THIS.
I hope it's a game that we all enjoy.
GO BLUE and may the boys bring this one home!
|03/31/2018 - 1:51pm||No, the home crowd advantage stuff||
is all a myth (roll fucking eyes).
Except at all the venues you list where it sure as hell ain't.
|03/31/2018 - 1:47pm||Your post is nonsense||
You're a lousy fan and a fussbudget to boot.
If you've ever seen an opposing team fall apart, you would know how stupid your post is. Yeah, they can blot you out when the game is going fine. No, no they can't when the ceiling is falling in.
There's a reason teams will do anything they can to get a "home regional" or close. Right? Bet you think it's just so they can be hassled with ticket requests.
Your post entirely ignores UM player after UM player who talked about how the "home" crowd buoyed them.
Your post ignores the efforts of a player like Moe, who specifically made sure the crowd was engaged against A&M when he turned to us and asked for noise after a made bucket.
And nice to try to dismiss the statistically proven ref effect. Our calls could be worse, and there was nothing wrong with the whistle we got against FSU.
But thanks for your condescending know it all as fuck post. I'm sure you think you're very smart.
I'm also sure that your perceived moral superiority is something that gives you great comfort.
|03/31/2018 - 1:33pm||But yes||
no kids, lol!
Except one great dog and two great brother cats. All rescues, all living the life.
|03/31/2018 - 1:31pm||There were like 3.5 people who were mildly upset||
the rest of my row and the entire section was having a great, if nerve wracking time.
And the "upset" people and I gave each other huge hugs when the game ended.
|03/31/2018 - 1:25pm||Right back at you||
the game is on the court.
The support is in the stands.
There's a reason teams want to play close to home, but okay.
|03/31/2018 - 1:24pm||Ha ha ha||
now that's the post of the year.
|03/31/2018 - 1:19pm||I'm sure it does||
rows of mute people sitting in maize and blue could occasionally learn something from us heathens from the Northeast.
|03/31/2018 - 1:18pm||Too close to game time||
but I'd be glad to get back to you on the rest later.
|03/31/2018 - 1:08pm||If you were at MSG/Staples||
you are either deaf or an idiot.
What a stupid post, directly contradicted by almost literally every player interviewed.
|03/31/2018 - 11:22am||Ha ha ha thanks||
|03/31/2018 - 11:14am||Did you mean me?||
A very young 45, inventor/small business owner - pet related - I freaking love animals - Varsity FB, BKB, BB in HS, played on a top ten bkb team in all of NYC, coached by a guy who really belonged in college not HS bkb, but didn't want the hours or the year round grind, football Giants season ticket holder since I was 3 - sort of a former sports writer - as in covered sports for a men's glossy - former Lehman Brothers rising star who quit to write, trade options, and attend the 1998 Rose Bowl, animal rescuer, all around madman.
Unless you meant the guy with the negative points balance, in which case, apologies for jumping in.
|03/31/2018 - 10:27am||I think for those people it's about them, not the team||
I generally eschew hypermasculinity as sad and desperate.
I also think there's a real difference between football, when you need a whole crowd to bring something to the table to move the needle - I fucking haaaaaaate the pedophile enabler worshippers, but anyone who doesn't think their night white outs and defeaning sound help that team, I mean...
Basketball is a bit different. If you're within 20-30 feet of the court, the people on the court can *actually hear you* - a little loud can go a long way in that more intimate setting.
I'm worried about what we're going to face tonight. Going to be a crowd ready to go at us if that other team gets the ball rolling. Our crowd needs to be ready to let them know there's a large crowd of maize and blue folks who are equally for them.
|03/31/2018 - 10:22am||I think you really got what I'm saying||
I definitely have zero desire to intentionally make anyone unhappy. I tried to work with both greek monsters as best I could...
|03/31/2018 - 10:17am||All in the eye of the beholder||
although not sure where you get a whole crowd of girly men. The section we were in was generally awesome, very involved in the game. This just referenced two people in front and two in the row behind, who seemed like a decent set of avatars for a part of the UM fanbase that is pretty dispiriting.
I think an annoying a hole has no sense of the flow of the game and makes noise just to make noise, particuarly when it's not useful. Who screams at the refs for fouls that are obviously fouls. Who is basically a stupid fan. I know basketball. Yeah, I am crazy loud for 3 out of every 4 defensive possessions played on the hoop I am sitting 20 feet from and that's what fans should be doing. That's what fans of every passionate basketball program who understand basketball are doing.
|03/31/2018 - 10:00am||Now *that* would be very rude||
that's downright antisocial behavior.
|03/31/2018 - 9:45am||You missed a fair amount||
I mean, particularly the part about trying to accomodate both scylla and charybdis that was in the OP.
I pay enough to sit close enough that you're damn right it makes a difference if you're participating or not. And when the passion level in an arena builds, it helps when even the people in the 200s and 300s weigh in. Anyone who has every been an athlete playing in front of a hostile crowd knows that it's intimidating to know that not only are you playing poorly but that you've also got the home crowd riled up.
There's a difference between indiscriminately loud and obnoxious and being loud and passionate. Nowhere was there a suggestion to stand all game and it's hard to get from my post that I'm for yelling during timeouts or when UM has the ball.
It's not obnoxious to scream when your team is on defense. It's called being a fan who understands the role of fans in a game. Otherwise, they'd play these games in libraries.
|03/31/2018 - 9:37am||Now *that*||
is my kind of fan. I feel you buddhafrog, I feel you.
|03/31/2018 - 9:35am||I'll be taking the dog for a good walk||
although I have to get to the bar hella early.
Unlike being at a game, I do NOT like standing all game in a bar. That's both useless and uncomfortable.
Oh - I also like to blow off steam by getting in petty and predictable arguments with people on mgoblog
|03/31/2018 - 9:30am||That would be like indiscriminate standing||
or yelling during timeouts.
This wasn't a paean to rude fandom - at least by the definition I would apply - but it is an admonition to those who don't participate or would whine and bitch about other people participating and supporting the team in a way that is appropriate and useful.
|03/31/2018 - 9:26am||Feeling pretty good||
a little less sick with nerves than last night.
It just sometimes feels like people think a library is intimidating if everyone is wearing the same color of clothing.
I get that some people here might be intimidated by a library...
|03/31/2018 - 9:22am||If this is a response to the OP||
your ability to read is seriously in question.
|03/31/2018 - 9:20am||Drunk on nerves, if anything||
I find it predictable, sad, and depressingly hilarious that a post that encourages participation at a game where A FUCKING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME BERTH IS ON THE LINE is too much for some of the precious ears around these parts or the people who treasure their rights to be useless fucking mutes who feel the intimidation of their numbers is best expressed by sitting and wearing maize clothing.
|03/31/2018 - 9:15am||I lack||
that level of discipline.
|03/31/2018 - 9:13am||I was hardly standing indiscriminately||
There are lots of moments in a basketball game when it is time to stand. When your team is in the midst of a run putting them up 38-30, you should damn well be standing during that run. It's intimidating to the other team to not only feel the game is getting away from them, but to feel, hear, and see that the "home" crowd is riled up and just getting louder and more into the game.
Anyone who is able bodied and doesn't stand during such a moment is a useless fan.
|03/31/2018 - 9:06am||You didn't make it to the Odyssey?||
|03/29/2018 - 12:40am||Oh, thank you deity||
was hoping for this when I clicked on this.
They ranked Custer 15 spots above Z.
That's fucking beautiful.
|03/27/2018 - 4:37pm||That makes sense||
|03/27/2018 - 3:55pm||Stupid question||
if we were, by some chance, to beat this surprisingly terrifying team from Loyola, would that also be the section Monday night?
|03/24/2018 - 2:51am||Oh right, you told me your user name||
Yeah, that was me, lol!
Unless I got food poisoning tonight - which is a solid possibility - I should be even louder tomorrow!
|03/23/2018 - 4:23pm||I'm pretty impervious to down in fronters||
let's hope there's alot to cheer about tomorrow!
|03/23/2018 - 4:21pm||Hey man, sorry, David got in first!||
There are very good tickets out there, but floor level comes pretty dear.
Good luck - glad you'll be part of Ann Arbor West!
|03/23/2018 - 4:19pm||Yeah, Cali, David is in||
sorry about that.
If you're anywhere near us, come find us!
There were some FSU fans there, but we will far outnumber them - time to make some serious noise!
|03/23/2018 - 4:17pm||Sounds great - so you're on||
Sounds great - so you're on the other side of the arena - counting on you to make noise from over there!
|03/23/2018 - 3:35pm||I found out after it was the dad's birthday||
They were good basketball fans - we all stayed to watch FSU-Gonzaga together and they're coming back for the Elite 8 game.
Hope I convinced them to root for us, lol
|03/23/2018 - 3:26pm||Cali, I think he's in for sure, will know in an hour, though||
I'll get back with you, either way.
Wasn't it amazing?
It was just like non-stop joy - I felt so lucky to get to witness that!
|03/23/2018 - 3:14pm||We had the nicest a&m fans behind us at the game yesterday||
I did not enjoy their pain, but it was pretty amazing to see the spectacle through their eyes. They were pretty impressed.
|03/23/2018 - 3:13pm||Man, I wish I rolled that hard||
|03/23/2018 - 3:06pm||Just look for the Hatch email address||
in your inbox...
Also passed along my cell...
|03/23/2018 - 3:04pm||Sent!||
I love impulsive UM fans who are totally willing to piss off the wife!
|03/23/2018 - 3:01pm||Ha||
believe me, I get that.
I got the last flight out of NYC so I could witness that glorious display of basketball yesterday.
|03/23/2018 - 2:59pm||Just to touch on that||
it's a pretty amazing place to see a game from.
These are the tickets I always get when I'm trying to get near the court.
These are pretty much the tickets I had throughout the BTT at the Garden.
Because they're off to the side, the view is amazing for one half and more than acceptable for the other half.
It's an incredible place to be able to see how every play and movement unfolds.
It's hard to describe the beauty of what I watched yesterday, and there just were not many if any better vantage points from which to take it in.
To each their own, but imo, it's as exciting and educational as it gets.
|03/23/2018 - 2:50pm||Ha ha ha||
believe me, where I'm staying in LA (close to the Staples Center), you don't have to be that pretty!
