Let's hope Mr. Patterson learns the playbook quickly and is ready to compete with the others for the starting job.

He has got to reduce those sack and INT numbers.

Michigan has some nice depth and talent now at QB:

Brandon Peters-18 (RS So.) - 4 star

Dylan McCaffrey-10 (RS Fr.) - 4 star

Shea Patterson-20 (RS So.)  - 5 star

Joe Milton-12 (Fr) - 4 star

Kevin Doyle-3 (Fr.) - 3 star

Shea Patterson's QB stats at Ole Miss:

I know we shouldn't talk about this so much but I just happened to notice they have a thread with over 4300 replies dedicated to talking about MgoBlog?!?!    Holy shit.

Again I hope harbaugh opens the playbook this bowl game and have peters spin it so we see what he's got. I want it to good competition throughout the spring-fall camps. Excited about the future with this position

Jordan was going to beat you out anyways so better to leave than lose the job. Good luck and thanks for your contributions to Ole Miss.

I so don't regret not having a Twitter account.

2018 Patterson plays great and wins the starting job.. goes pro

2019 Peters plays great and wins the starting job... goes pro

2020 McCaffery plays great and wins the starting job.. goes pro

2021 Milton/Doyle plays great and wins the starting job... goes pro

2022 Milton/Doyle plays great and wins the starting job... goes pro

I am worried about our QB depth for 2023 though to be honest.

I'll say this before going any further, because a lot of folks are automatically assuming Patterson will be the starter next Fall:

I think this is still Peters' job to lose. I know he's only had limited action this year, but he looked very good with the portion of the playbook that he was given. Made smart decisions, made his reads, and knew largely when to throw the ball away and live to fight another day. Can't say the same for any of his predecessors. He also still has the bowl game to prove why he deserves to keep his job.

I think Peters can be pretty darn good next year, but if Patterson beats him out, that means he's just that much better. Either way, competition never hurt anyone.

Agree. Not to mention that Shea just doesn't have to learn the playbook, but actualy play in a pro style offense. Also, his gunslinger mentality might not sit well with Harbaugh if he turns it over. Not a betting man here, but if I were, I'd put money on Peters to trot out the first series in South Bend.

3rd transfer QB in 4 years?

No time taken to develop one. Another attempt to plug and play ,quick fix.

UofM fans deserve better

This is masterful recruiting, using non-traditional avenues. great job Harbaugh and staff for getting  the #1 QB in 2015. It's really "in your mouth". Don't be a hater

This is awesome for the program. We needed this depth in a big way.

But some of you guys need to pump the brakes on the Patterson hype a bit. Im not  sure he beats out Peters. This offense is going to ask him to do things he never did at Ole Miss. Like move on time to a second read. The West Coast concepts in our offense are light years beyond what Ole Miss did. His accuracy leaves a bit to be desired too, but that can be offset by his playmaking ability when things break down.

This will be a true competition that Id expect to go the distance. And in the end we will have ourselves a damn fine QB.
