Yeah I gotta be honest, I lol-ed at this.

The PLL got two successful coaches at the highest levels (Starsia and Stagnitta), but the other four were successful or mediocre at lower levels. And they hired a guy who got fired for hitting an opposing player during a game...

12/11/2018 - 12:16pm I like the idea of having…

I like the idea of having more competitive conferences, but everyone regardless of how well that team did last year should have a chance at the playoffs. Say Michigan is the worst team in the upper division one year, do you want to have absolutely no hope next year?

12/11/2018 - 11:38am Pretty sure he did:

"The…

Pretty sure he did:

"The worst team in the Big Ten gets demoted down to the MAC and the MAC champs get promoted up at the end of the season."

12/11/2018 - 11:37am The MHSAA Playoffs however…

The MHSAA Playoffs however are determined by metrics, not division winners. Each MHSAA team has a chance from the beginning of the season to make the playoffs including those relegated teams.

The proposed system in the OP only allows for division winners, which only allows for teams in those divisions to make the playoffs. A relegated team doesn't have a shot for the playoffs in this system.

12/11/2018 - 11:29am If relegation can't catch on…

If relegation can't catch on in the MLS, it won't in any other league.

I don't want a 3-9 Michigan State to get relegated or a 3-9 Texas to get relegated or a 3-9 Tennessee to get relegated. Would you want to play a MAC schedule the next season when Michigan went 3-9 with Rich Rod?

Teams vary from year to year. Teams shouldn't be punished based on last year's results.

Chill, dude. These polls are all guesses all this point. The difference between #3 and #6 was only 37 votes.

Michigan did get their first #1 vote this week.

12/07/2018 - 11:19am Grant of Rights - basically…

Grant of Rights - basically a contract for schools to stay in the conference. If a school leaves, they are still part of that conference's TV rights. So if Texas and Oklahoma left for the Big Ten before the GOR expired, they would still be a part of the Big 12's TV rights and thus TV money made from their games would go to the Big 12 and not the Big Ten.

Dave Brandon take over for Jim Delany?

Yeah, that'd fly.

Let's get this Michigan/Texas rivalry started on a good note!

12/07/2018 - 9:42am This wouldn't happen until…

This wouldn't happen until 2024-2025ish, which is exactly when the 4-team playoff is about to wrap up. So this would most likely happen with a 8-team playoff in mind. We definitely would have 2-3 teams in that playoff if we had 2 more strong brands in the conference.

12/07/2018 - 9:37am If we would add Texas and…

If we would add Texas and Oklahoma, I would want to see Oklahoma State and Kansas, too. Kansas for basketball purposes of course.

If it was more likely on TV than not I would follow it like I do basketball. But most of the time the games are relegated to BTN Plus.

Do we hate basketball here or something? I don't get it.

Then again I'm a Gen-Z who has never seen Michigan football as a dominant force and sees football in general through the lens of CTE.

12/04/2018 - 1:28pm While it's good that…

While it's good that strength of schedule isn't being hurt, a team's record will be hurt. Those two games were usually two wins for almost every Big Ten team. Now, there's 14 more losses to be spread across the conference because there is a loser in each conference game.

Now, hopefully, the analytics give the Big Ten teams the benefit of the doubt because of the strength of schedule, but losses are never good in analytics either.

I think this is basically it.

One thing that would make it more meaningful is if players from both sides chirp at each other during the game, and it starts to feel like a quasi-rivalry game.

11/28/2018 - 8:47pm It sure would be nice to…

It sure would be nice to play some different teams especially Syracuse or Albany. However, there may not be too much room in Michigan's schedule.

My guess is one of those unannounced games would be Notre Dame for the rivalry factor. It wouldn't surprise me if they played Mercer or Furman while they are in the Atlanta area.

Looking at potential home-and-home agreements, Penn and Siena could be possible teams to fill the schedule. Michigan has played Penn the last three years and would probably like a visit from Penn after going to Philadelphia for two of those games. Michigan played Siena last year and could have a home-and-home with them, but maybe not.

So I wouldn't be surprised if Notre Dame, Mercer/Furman, and Penn filled out the schedule.

But who knows, maybe Notre Dame isn't on the schedule, and instead Michigan plays a team like Syracuse, Albany, or even Virginia or Duke.

11/28/2018 - 4:47pm 2019 will be the 8th season…

2019 will be the 8th season. Here's the past 3 seasons:

2018: 8-6 (beat #4 Notre Dame and #14 Penn State & went 1-4 in B1G Play in Head Coach Kevin Conry's first year, losing to JHU by 1 goal and losing to OSU by 3 goals)

2017: 8-6 (beat #10 Penn & went 0-5 in B1G Play, losing by an average of 8 goals in B1G Play & then fired Head Coach John Paul)

2016: 3-10 (lost to Dartmouth and Marist & went 0-5 in B1G Play)

Tis the season of hoops!

You made me do the research. So here it is some quick googling:

If you're going on averages, K-State would be it. Snyder is 79 and Weber is 62. UNC would be close though with a 68 yr old and 67 yr old.

Other old duos:

Michigan State: Dantonio 62 and Izzo 63

Duke: Cutcliffe 64 and Coach K 71

Iowa: Ferentz 63 and McCaffrey 59
