Oh sorry, I was not being…

Oh sorry, I was not being inclusive. I meant this is a SPORTS blog

Was I the only one who knew…

Was I the only one who knew what he meant? This is a football blog after all, right?

The real question is what…

The real question is what did Alabama or LSU do wrong to get Tennessee in trouble?

Stats: 100% Noise mostly…

Stats: 100% Noise mostly pleasant, preferable to most ears than the RAWK music

B1G Finish: well technically there are no standings, but I would say they are the leaders and the best. Hard to beat the "Victors"

Tourney: with COVID I doubt the MMB makes the tourney, tough for any MB to make the tourney if restrictions are the way they are.

EDIT: this is a basketball thread? Whoa!

Agreed. 3rd place for…

Agreed. 3rd place for Michigan is very generous.

Same... usually don't go on…

Same... usually don't go on Mgoblog during games but today the blog might be a source of comic relief

If you read the article, it…

If you read the article, it specifically says that non-conference teams must be following the same safety protocols as the PAC-12.

The approval now gives schools the flexibility to schedule additional games if there are any cancellations due to COVID-19 and if the non-conference opponent meets the requirements the conference laid out, including following all Pac-12 testing and COVID-19 protocols.

Oklahoma has not had a…

Oklahoma has not had a disastrous season. They lost twice and are favored to win this week against a Top 15 team. They may still win the Big 12.

LSU has basically reverted back to the mean. They were typically a 3-4 loss team before last year's anomaly. The Missouri loss was a little fluky too if I recall.

The thing you're right about is the Big Ten teams. Minnesota was overrated. Penn State and Michigan have had disastrous seasons.

I like your optimism by the "look someone else is as miserable as we are" approach, but other than Penn State fans, there's nobody who shares our pain.

Lol you realize Northwestern…

Lol you realize Northwestern has gone to the Big Ten CG more times than us right? At this point, Michigan deserves to be the punchline to these jokes, not Northwestern.

(yes I realize the B1G west is worse...)

That's why these low-risk…

That's why these low-risk sports need to be played now rather than later. We can play safely and make it happen.

As long as they keep the low…

As long as they keep the low-risk sports like XC, girls golf, and boys tennis in the fall, this decision is understandable.

These sports can be played in the fall. No doubt about it.

Lake Charlevoix. Beautiful…

Lake Charlevoix. Beautiful and peaceful.

You say that as if that's…

You say that as if that's abnormal.

Good point. What division…

Good point. What division would they end up putting Notre Dame in? But I guess your point probably makes it obvious.

By your reasoning though,…

By your reasoning though, Michigan vs. Ohio State should be played indoors. It's only 7 days before the conference championship game.

When thinking about this, I…

When thinking about this, I had to remind myself that although this game is in December, it's only one week after UM vs. OSU. The game strategy due to weather shouldn't change that much in one week's time.

In before someone says this…

In before someone says this is OT b/c we'll never get there anyway...

In all seriousness though I wouldn't mind seeing the B1G Championship played at some of the outdoor venues in the Midwest (as long as it's not in Ohio).

What else would you call a…

What else would you call a Public Health response being manipulated by both parties to buy votes this fall?

Don't you hate the east side…

I apologize for attacking a strawman argument with a just as equally hurtful strawman argument of my own.

Genuinely happy for you. Let…

Genuinely happy for you. Let us know how it goes.

probably wouldn't have…

probably wouldn't have commented, but I have to disagree about #5. Even though football is more important to most fans, a loss to Rutgers is a whole lot less probable than a loss to Nebraska in basketball.

Sure it would hurt a lot more, but it is a whole lot less likely. Enough so, in my opinion, that Nebraska basketball is more of a threat.

Oh come on, I'm sure you can…

Oh come on, I'm sure you can get into a WMU, CMU or EMU game with a family for less than $100

I don't understand it from…

I don't understand it from GT's perspective. Why wouldn't they team up with us to eliminate OSU? In addition, with Team Chaos's help, we might have a chance of knocking them buckeyes out, no?

Between this and the message…

Between this and the message board about when we last went to work, I'm really starting to believe Big Brother is after us Mgobloggers...

I got a message for you Big Brother: I didn't do anything wrong! If you want to get someone get Maizen or that weird koala guy!

MVP 06 NCAA Baseball.

It's…

MVP 06 NCAA Baseball.

It's the only game for which I'd ever turn PS2 on.

The hitting and pitching mini-games were just as fun as playing the actual games.

And it had semi-realistic recruiting in dynasty mode for the time.

Not to thread-jack,but…

Not to thread-jack,but personally I've got a board game idea I want to test out. I feel like I need to get the game out there to a few people I know to see if they like the game, whether they like the rules, whether the rules actually make sense, if there's any loopholes in the rules that I need to cover, etc. What advice would you recommend for me to get the idea out there? Do you know how copyright rules work with board/card games?

As a Michigan and Duke fan,…

As a Michigan and Duke fan, let's just say, WE NEED THIS!

neg away you UNC fans.

Yes, most states have a rule…

Yes, most states have a rule of traveling no more than x miles over the state border. For Michigan, I think the rule roughly equates to playing teams that are north of Indianapolis (for Indiana) or Columbus (for Ohio) and east of Rockford (for Illinois). So if a Michigan team wants to play an out-of-state team, they have 5 options:

1. Northern Ohio

2. Northern Indiana

3. Northeastern Illinois

4. Northern Wisconsin

5. Southern Ontario

Would you want to get COVID…

Would you want to get COVID while dealing with the flu?

Can the MHSAA ever explain…

Can the MHSAA ever explain this:

Why does football get 8 state championships while the other sports only get 4?

It makes no sense other than from a $$$ perspective.

The most striking thing I…

The most striking thing I saw as an XC coach was the student enrollment numbers required to be in each division have dropped like a rock over the past few years.

When I was in high school five years ago, my high school just became D3. If we keep enrollment steady like we have over the past few years, we'll be D2 in just another three years. So to summarize, we'll go from the top of D4 to bottom of D2 in a matter of 10 years. Unreal.

As a state, why is our HS student enrollment going down so much?

What if they only have half…

What if they only have half seasons in each season. For example:

Spring 2021: 6 games (only divisional games (& 1 nonconf game for teams in divisions with only 6 teams)) + Conference Titles + Bowl games

Fall 2021: 8 games (only divisional games (& 3 nonconf games for teams in divisions with only 6 teams/2 nonconf games for teams in divisions with 7 teams)  + Conference Titles + Bowl games

You wouldn't need to start Fall 2021's season until October with that schedule.

Other than Saturday being…

Other than Saturday being filled with football, the scheduling for March Madness really wouldn't be affected I would think. I would think there'd be plenty of attention for it yet.

My first thought, would we…

My first thought, would we have anyone that would sit out to get drafted? Maybe this might help us if OSU has to play without all their draftable talent.

Just say, you want to get 6…

Just say, you want to get 6 games in (conference divisional games only), plus conference championships and a "bowl season". You'd need two and a half months for that type of season. In order to be ready for the 2021 fall season, I'd think you'd need to be done with "bowl season" by mid-May. This means games need to start at the beginning of March. This would then require practice to start in the last few weeks of January, peak flu season. Seems unlikely that you'd be able to start practicing at that point. If you wait until flu season is done, you're starting practice in March and starting to play games in mid-April. Two and a half months later, you're at the end of June and just finishing up the "bowl season".

I think his question is more…

I think his question is more of "what if there's a foot of a snow still on the ground in mid-late March?" but yes, I think we would still be fine.

Very confused. We play…

Very confused. We play Washington in 2020 and 2021 regular seasons...

Demand will go down in the future for sure, but to say we won't get 100k crowds again I disagree. You mention people will break habits and find new ones, but to break the kind of tradition we're talking about here, I think it would have to be at least three falls without Michigan football to break these habits.

Very interesting setup. So…

Very interesting setup. So he's going to be a part of a separate G-League "development" team consisting of veterans/mentors and other recent high school grads that would only normally play 12 or so regular season games. I wonder if he would've considered only playing 12 regular season games under the usual circumstances.

That's true about Peppers, but also remember Jake Butt's injury during that game. Man, for being a bowl game, that game was just brutal.

1. '19 Baseball because we were so stinking close

2. Brady of course. Otherwise, does Derek Jeter count somewhat for taking classes at Michigan?

3. '11 ND, '11 OSU, '16 Wisconsin

4. The Houston buzzerbeater, The Kansas OT game & The Purdue game for Senior Day a few years back

5. Speight of course

What you say might be true,…

What you say might be true, however JHU is supposed to be premier program of college lacrosse and they haven't been to the Final Four in five years. That's kinda like Nick Saban not being able to bring Alabama to the CFP for five years straight. I believe Pietramala was on his way out (he started 2-4 this year before the pandemic). But yes, it does seem to give them some kind of "excuse" to make it seem more amiable.

Well you were first. You…

Well you were first. You even got an image and twitter embed, but no replies. What a shame.

1. Can 2018's loss against South Carolina count?

2. I'll have to go with 2015 as I'm not THAT old.

3. Jourdan Lewis. That game was still in legitimate question at the time.

4. Don't know. Don't care.

5. Tommy Rees. Don't remember Aaron Craft's shot.
