I have no clue, but I feel confident is saying Michigan will win.

Hoping to see something like:

Michigan 38 - Nebraska 10, but wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to something like 31-21 Michigan winning.

I have no clue how to embed videos, and I'm not an X/O kinda guy, but I remember this TD vs Alabama. The entire OL chops, and gives the QB enough time to find a WR open for their only TD. So I can only assume it's a way for a poor OL to "block" an elite DL to give the QB at least 3 seconds in the pocket.

09/20/2018 - 12:36pm As long as the refs let him…

As long as the refs let him and the rest of our secondary play physically at the line of scrimmage.

09/20/2018 - 10:59am After seeing Wimbush and SMU…

After seeing Wimbush and SMU-backup both get chunks on the ground, and confuse our secondary with motions, I really want Martinez to be healthy on Saturday.

Gives us another shot at figuring out how to stop a mobile qb and complex offense, before we face the real threats in the B1G with Lewerke, McSorley, and Haskins. If noodle arm Wimbush and a backup SMU QB can look productive against us, then we better hope for some changes and improvements before we face the big boys. Home against Nebraska is the perfect opportunity to iron out all the wrinkles.

09/18/2018 - 10:10am It's prevalent all over…

It's prevalent all over college football right now. I put the blame on both the staff/trainers/etc on the sidelines, and the players.

If I can run 50+ miles with over 15,000' of climbing in hot and humid Hawaii without cramping, then an elite athlete in college should be able to go 3 hours without cramping.

It could be a combination of stubborn players not thinking they need proper hydration/fuel on gameday. If they only have water and gatorade on the sideline, then that's a huge mistake by the staff. I hope they have better options available on the sideline (electrolyte options like tailwind, skratch labs, nuun, EFS, Clif, etc).

Or it could be a a problem with how they trained in the offseason. If they only focused on strength training, then yeah they're going to be more susceptible to cramping.

Basically, blaming the weather is a garbage excuse. It's overlooking the root of the problem.

TLDR: SMU has a really bad defense, and being forced to chart their defense can be classified as cruel and unusual punishment.

Could we get 3, 200 yard rushers in this game??

09/13/2018 - 9:21am I'd be interested to know…

I'd be interested to know how much power Ruiz/Patterson have with calling audibles at the line of scrimmage.

I'm just an armchair football observer, but it seems like teams who have QBs with the ability to change plays at the LoS, and a center who is able to relay the new blocking assignments, is a huge advantage and the great teams all do this (Clemson, Alabama, OSU).

I don't know anything about the law, but since this is a discussion board, and I'm just some random dude, I'll make a smart comment about something I know nothing about:

I assume there is some sort of statute of limitations for some stupid reason. And he's a powerful figure in east lansing, so two strikes against something actually happening to him.

10 years too late, but glad they're both gone.

09/07/2018 - 1:01pm On play 4: It doesn't even…

On play 4: It doesn't even seem likely, even if DPJ makes a perfect block, that our pulling OL can match the speed of the LB's. You can't expect a 300+ lb OL to outrun a 220lb LB to a spot on the far side of the field.

09/06/2018 - 2:35pm Yeah that RB did the exact…

Yeah that RB did the exact opposite. He helped lift him higher off the ground, then helped set him down nicely. This isn't ballet; chop the dude in the waist a la Marcus Ray to David Boston circa 1997.

A shoulder to the head is still targeting...

09/06/2018 - 2:19pm Play 1: Couldn't Shea have…

Play 1: Couldn't Shea have seen that Collins "lost" the route, but had a new post route wide open? Instead of throwing to the original planned route, why not throw it to a bunch of open space (didn't look like there was a safety over there) and hope your WR makes a play?

Play 2: Definitely on Ruiz. And why isn't that a PI? Dude climbed all over Gentry's back?

Play 3: Terrible play call. Have three receiving options all running to the short side of the field. Why not try a jump ball to DPJ on the far side? Throw to the pylon and hope your ultra-athlete makes a play? Bad on the line, but no fault to Shea (unless he has power to audible, then he should have adjusted the play before the snap).

Play 4: I think it's on Ruiz. He over-committed to helping Onwenu instead of just stepping back and making sure nobody comes through the middle. Higdon definitely needs to do more, but that LB is running almost full speed. Tough task for a RB.

Play 5: 100% on Runyan. Dylan possibly could have thrown one to the sidelines where only Perry can get it, but that LB is right there reading his eyes, so it'd be a dangerous throw if you leave it in the playing field.

Play 6: 100% on Ruiz. Can't try running around the entire left side to block a stunting linemen.

In summary: ND's experience and talent on the DL was way too much for Runyan and Ruiz. Their D-Coordinator knew exactly how to attack our OL, and their guys executed the plays.

Let's hope our OL gets better every week, because the B1G is loaded with great DL and D-Coordinators. We won't win against NW, Wisconsin, MSU, PSU, or OSU if the OL can't fix these mistakes.

My optimism comes from Shea having a crazy quick release, Harbaugh being a great Xs and Os coach, and Shea's experience against fast defenses with an arguably worse OL than he has now.

Harbaugh will put Shea in a position to make plays. We won't score a ton, but 20 will be enough to win this game.

Personally, I would have enjoyed the rundown of random former Detroit Tigers from the 1990s and early 2000s. In fact, I probably would have enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed Seth's breakdown of the LB situation at Nebraska, aka Dregs Anonymous.

08/17/2018 - 2:19pm Question for the board:

Question for the board:

Would this be a penalty under the new rules for this year? Does he lead with his head at all? Looks like the helmet might be the first thing to make contact? Is that how the new rule works?

08/13/2018 - 4:48pm With uncertain QB play, and…

With uncertain QB play, and breaking in a new OL, I don't see much production for the ND offense on 9/1.

Defense travels, so they won't be rattled by "the game day crew", or playing in a hostile environment.

Brown and Co. will have this defense ready to attack on the first snap. It'd be stupid to predict a shut-out, but I think we will hold them under 200 yards of total offense.

08/13/2018 - 2:52pm Thanks for this! For all the…

Thanks for this! For all the armchair coaches and agents  who said it was stupid for any of them who left early (Mitch, DJ, Stauskas) that it was a mistake and they'd never have an NBA career; it's nice to see them all make a substantial amount of money in a short amount of time.

Hopefully their support system and common sense will lead to good investments so they can all live a comfortable life, regardless if they have a long NBA career.

Almost got 100% with that comment, but I'm pretty sure Kugler is gone. Looking like Runyan or Hudson at RT.

I agree with the JBB/Bredeson combo doing work on the left side, especially in the run game. Super excited for Ruiz in the middle, and hoping Onwenu has everything figured out in the passing game.

We're going to be an excellent run blocking OL this year. And with the mobility of Shea, and how bad our passing game was last year, I think we're going to improve just because there isn't anywhere lower to go.

08/09/2018 - 12:09pm I'm just excited to see what…

I'm just excited to see what our defense can do to a basically brand new OL at ND. I'm hopeful that ND struggles to get past midfield on offense alone (which wouldn't count special teams or TO's by our offense).

08/08/2018 - 1:30pm On the one hand, this is…

On the one hand, this is very promising to see all these terrible OL's knowing they have to go against our defense. So big win there!

On the other hand, not feeling great about our OL. But I haven't felt great about our OL in over 10 years, so (insert shrug emoji).

I think osu finally realized they couldn't beat us, so they had to retreat. But they also figured they are stronger than GT, so that's the easiest path to take. We can finally begin helping our allies, as both GT and Florida have taken huge hits these past few days.

Strava is basically a social media site for runners and cyclists. There are segments, which are mostly popular routes, and the app tracks every attempt on that route. So if you can post the fastest time, you are the "winner" of that route. So it's fun to find routes in new cities, and try to steal a segment from someone. I have 1st place on segments on Maui, Big Island, and Oahu.
