OT: Hugh Freeze reportedly in Tuscaloosa interviewing for Alabama OC position
The very thought of that POS coaching makes me sick.
“Former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze was in Tuscaloosa today and was in the football building, The Tuscaloosa News has learned. Saban has always had a healthy respect for Freeze, who gave Alabama fits with his offense. Freeze was given a head coach restriction and two-game suspension but only if he were to become a head coach. He would face no restrictions as an assistant coach.”

those kids are screwed at ol' miss but hugh can just keep rollin'.... the ncaa is stupid. i can almost guarantee you that shea will not be able to play this year.... and he has to beg the ncaa to play when he did nothing wrong, but hugh (after 2 games) can just whistle right along... frickin' amazing...

you said it. this is shocking. There is almost no accountability for coaches in big time college sports. With the amount of stupid rules they heap on the kids. its embarassing how little control they have over the coaches. Its repulsive and one of the worst/most corrupt things about college sports.

I beg to differ on Shea's eligibility with respect to Hugh.
If Hugh is an active OC at a power school, the NCAA just looks backwards if they allow Hugh to participate but do not allow the players who were misled to participate... and we know the NCAA is all about saving face.

Wouldn't be surprised if his family left him given the accusations that came out...

like aaron hernandez was a murderer before he went to Florida. I completely disagree. Urban Meyer turned him INTO a murderer.

He'll find the recruitment process so very familiar.
Saban: Are you smarter now?
Freeze: umm probably not
Saban: Can you at least shut up?
Freeze: probably
Saban: You're hired. Bring your escorts too.

He is a man of God fergodsakes... /s
On a serious note, I would love to see the reaction of the Ole Miss faithful

What the NCAA calls "sanctions" at Ole Miss, Saban calls "Tuesday" at Alabama. He'll fit in perfectly.

He's a multitasker. Providing hookers for the players while spending plenty of time with his family.
Congrats, Bama. The NCAA won't give a crap if he gets caught doing similar things in Tuscaloosa. I guess the rich get richer.

Hey, Freeze may have run the dirtiest program in the history of modern college football, but he IS a great offensive coordinator. That being said, I'd get a court order to keep that guy 500 yeards from my program at all times.

I agree with someone above - I want to see the reaction of the Ole Miss blogs if that in fact happens and he ends up in Alabama. I just hope he was smart enough to keep the same phone and save his contacts because different locations in the SEC do have similar needs, after all.
January 15th, 2018 at 10:34 PM ^
Might not be smart on Freeze's part. Would turn everyone at Ole Miss against him and have them pile everything possible on him.

Saban was also one who complained about Harbaugh hiring Partridge and the reason he was hiring him and then tried to steal Partridge away

who knew a box of burner phones could be a signing bonus....

I guess when you’re Nick Saban and you win titles every other year, what the hell is anyone going to say to you about how you should do your job? I guess you might as well go get the guy who found a way to beat you two years in a row.
January 16th, 2018 at 6:15 AM ^
Saban probably has a higher approval rating than Jesus down in Alabama. He could probably kill a guy and have most of the state making excuses for him

They literally have no idea if he's even a good coach. Makes me think they want another bagman expert.
January 15th, 2018 at 10:44 PM ^
he's a fantastic coach and a great offensive mind. I don't give a fuck if they paid Laramie Tunsil and Laquon Treadwell millions, Hugh Freeze still coached them to back to back wins over ALABAMA. Hugh Freeze got incredibly competent quarterback play out of Bo Wallace and Chad Kelly. Hugh Freeze took one of the hardest jobs in the SEC and made it a Sugar Bowl champion in just a few years. I don't care how hard you cheat to get the recruits, we saw first hand with Brady Hoke that you still have to actually COACH the players. Maybe he's a scumbag but he's a scumbag with terrific coaching credentials.
January 15th, 2018 at 11:05 PM ^
It's easy to rebound at one of the hardest jobs in the SEC.
Also, Chad Kelly was a 4-star QB in high school. It's not as if he was a walk-on.
January 15th, 2018 at 11:54 PM ^
have bagmen. And congrats, Chad Kelly was a 4 star that got cut from Clemson, that was signed out of community college. Sure he got some stud players, but Alabama, Auburn, Texas, LSU, Texas A&M, and Georgia all had better players and better recruits. And Hugh Freeze beat em all. Do you know how many coaches beat Alabama, Auburn, and LSU in the same year in the last 20 years? It's two: Urban Meyer and Hugh Freeze. Sure he's a scumbag, but plenty of coaches are scumbags. The dude can coach his ass off.
