04/11/2018 - 12:04pm We will lose 1 game this year

where we play sloppy - I am thinking @ND or @NW.  We will go on to win the B1G and make the playoff.

We will have the best defense in the league, and a top 3 D in the country and the offense will be vastly improved, as in top 25 in the country.  Harbaugh is not Hoke or RR - He acknowledges issues, and will fix them, IE - canning his buddy Drevno.

The biggest personell issue is clearly at the tackle position, and then the uncertaintly at the QB position (however QB is tough to judge given the horrible pass protection from last year).

Ultimatley, I see us in the playoff as a 3 or 4 seed where we lose to an SEC type Bama, Auburn, GA, Clemson team with an elite D-line and better O-line that grinds us down by the 4th quarter. Perhaps we luck out and play a Pac 10 or Big 12 team first and can bully them and get to the championship game.

We will be good, probably very good, but the glaring hole at one of the most important positions  on the field (OT) will keep us from elite, and this wil carry over to to the most important position on the field (QB), where the pressure eventually breaks you over the course of 60 min.

03/27/2018 - 10:17pm Speaking of Penn State

I think these new Stampel revelations make MSU worse than PSU regarding institutional scandal and abuse of power, sexual abuse, etc

Horrible things to compare, but her there are clearly two active participants in the sexual abuse, whereas at PSU it seems there was Sandusky and a bunch of people looking the other way.

Both horrible, both inexcusable, but MSU might have just pulled off the impossible - being more morally bankrupt than both PSU and Baylor.

03/24/2018 - 11:50pm Congrats to the team!

But not comfortable "post banging" gymnastics threads....title sounds horrible only because of MSU scandle.

If I'm the only asshole that had this cross my mind, then nega away.

03/23/2018 - 12:57am When Michigan shoots well...

it is the best team in the country (exept maybe Villanova).  IE, UM at peak level is better than any other team at their peak level.

This is because we now have elite defense.  When we run our offense, it puts opposing defenses in a bind (Beilein forces you to pick your poison) because we are so versatile and flexible.  All depends on the 3s going down.

Unlike in year's past, this team is more than just an offensive juggernaut with an average defense.  We can win ugly.  But peak UM is one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the country.

03/23/2018 - 12:45am The hero we need

but not the one we deserve?

03/12/2018 - 6:13pm Got it...

So in football, your Super Bowl is the UM game, but in Bball UM doesn't matter?

Meh, sounds convenient.  I'll pass on the Jonestown cocktail you're drinking.

Nobody does less with more than Izzo, nobody does more with less than Beilein.

03/12/2018 - 5:58pm That's because Tom Izzo

does things the right way.  His teams are always tough, disciplined, and good citizens off the court.  They always peak in March.  Obviously you missed the memo.

03/12/2018 - 2:49pm More importantly...

What's Herbstreit reporting?

03/11/2018 - 10:45pm Apparently

MSU is the favorite to win the championship according to all these talking heads?

I only watched the two games where we spanked them on their home court and at a neutral site in the B1G tourney?

I'm curious is they are that legit? - They only have 2 other losses the rest of the year, or are just getting the "Izzo is so great in March" narrative.

Basically, are we just a bad match up for them and they are legit or is it more of the Izzo media love fest.

03/06/2018 - 3:41pm Why outrage?

Can't we just do a spreadsheet of guys that have run a sub 4.5 or sub 4.4 at the combines over the past decade and see that they are disproportionately black?

Can't we look at Olympic sprinters and see that the fastest runners in the world come from island nations in the Caribbean (Jamaica, Barbados, etc) or the US and are decendents of slaves of western Africa - that were often forced to breed (a disgusting practice) based on taking the strongest and fastest slaves and matching them?

Denying the science of genetics and inheritted trates is stupid.  People from different regions look different and have often evolved in different ways due to both the environment and forced procreation (eugenics).

The idea of race is stupid and outdated because it is focused primarily on skin color, and it is VERY dangerous to try to apply these standards to categories such as intelligence, creativity, psychology or traits intrinsic to human behavior.

But saying "the average Swedish person is taller than the average Japanes person" is simply a statistic, not racist. Social justice warriors need to chill and realize certain battles are not worth it and often just based on "OUTRAGE" instead of actual analysis of the claims.

Deion said nothing that a scientific study probably wouldn't support - just based on outcomes.

03/03/2018 - 1:33pm Wow, this would suck

Hope they can make room for him on the UM coaching staff if he can’t play anymore. Get him into grad school and an assistant job ASAP so he is busy and doesn’t spiral in to depression as many might if a lifelong dream is taken away ina heartbeat (no pun intended)

02/24/2018 - 6:12pm I’d also like to add

That while it has been incredibly painful to follow UM football the past 15 years, we now have the right man for the job. Harbaugh is clean, he gets it, and with patience we the fan base will be rewarded with a very solid program no longer wandering in the wilderness.

02/24/2018 - 6:08pm I’m curious

How many conference championships, final fours and national titles Mr. Beilein would have if college basketball was played (recruited) on an even playing field. And I’m not just talking about his coaching here at UM and looking at it with through homer maize and blue glasses.

I am convinced, especially given the evidence that has come out about these other programs (most top tier recruiting factories), that John Beilein is one of the top bball minds in all of basketball as well as one of the best developers of talent we see in the modern era of NCAA basketball.

His players and teams always improve, his system and IQ of the game are both flexible and aware of its own limitations, and he continues to “over achieve” in the eyes of pundits based on talent on paper.

Never was a coach so wronged out of a deserved championship as John Beilein was by Louisville and sleazy pitino. I really hope Beilein reaches the summit (obviously here at UM), but even if somewhere else for whatever reason, this is a man that deserves an NCAA championship.

02/23/2018 - 3:55pm Dick Vitale

will be spending weeks working on his (insert platitude here) narrative going in to the tournament.

Coach K, Izzo....all the "good guys" and all that "is right" about college bball, etc, etc...He will need to rewrite his usual script.

Looking for the real deal Dickie V?  Nobody does it with more class or integrity than John Beilein.

02/23/2018 - 1:46am Penn State says

hold my beer.  Took Baylor how long to out Briles?

Not saying MSU isn't a disgusting culture of enabling and coverup, but I think there are other places where this type of culture has occurred, is currently happening, and will continue to go on in the future.

02/18/2018 - 9:24pm Doesn't matter...

looks like his 8th attempt at this persona has been banned.  I'm sure he'll be back within a week.

02/18/2018 - 9:21pm Saying

I don't get all outraged! or offended by every joke or internet meme that looks racist or mysoginistic.  IE, I'm not the internet social justice warrior.  I just find this guy's schtick to be old and lame nad it is clearly offensive to other people - so it's just annoying that he keeps popping up with the same bs.

02/18/2018 - 9:16pm Who cares...

We aren't winning the B1G title this year, but we are probably best equipped for a deep run in the tourney of all teams in the conference.

If we get a 6 seed or better going into the Dance, dont be surprised to see this team in the elite 8 or Final 4.  There are no dominant teams in college basketball this year, we have a very balanced team, and Beilein's teams always get better as the year goes on.

If we get hot from 3, watch out...could be a deep run.

02/18/2018 - 6:18pm Yo Yo, my hoes...

This be L'Tyrone Washington and I be speaking ebonics on blog cuz I be thinking its dope y'all.

Franklin...your schtick is fucking so old and dumb.  It was never funny and now its just trite and clutters the fucking board.  What's next, random Mexican, Chinese guy, Indian?

It's so annoyingly transparent and pathetic you keep coming back as someone new despite the mods banning you.

Was my first sentence of this response funny, clever, or novel at all?  No, it's fucking dumb.

The racist aspect of your shit was offensive at first (am I'm not PC at all) - but the real issue, at least for me is - it's not fucking funny, it clutters the board with stupid shit, and it does offend certain people on here.  It's pathetic that you enjoy doing this and continue to do it.  Just fucking leave.

02/14/2018 - 11:06am Actually you can offend

whoever you wish.  The backlash and consequences will just differ depending on the group.

02/11/2018 - 9:01pm State as a #1

and first to lose to a #16 would be just what the d....

Ok, that first phrase that came to mind would have come out horribly given current situation in EL.

Lets just say, It would be glorious to watch.

02/11/2018 - 5:43pm Would be an all time chucker classic

Might as well have both teams wear football uniforms and score is kept based on total rebounds instead of points.

02/03/2018 - 5:30am Is Dantonio essentially Art Briles?

Just not exposed as of yet?  Who knows what will come out, but it's starting to look really bad for their football program if there is merit to the idea that he let a bunch of violent student athletes and sexual assulters run around campus in order to keep his football team competitive.

Could get even uglier in EL in the coming weeks.

02/01/2018 - 4:57pm Agnostic here

No way I could ever believe in a specific religion, scripture, etc., but given the knowledge of my own insignificance, I would never knock others beliefs or ridicule their faith, as I recognize there is far too much we don't know or understand about the universe.

That said, while I can't find a "god", there is plenty of evidence for the existance of devils...IE, Nassar himself.

01/29/2018 - 2:01pm Hitler never listened

To his assistant coaches.

Similarly Izzo is now also fighting a war on two fronts.

He and Dantonio will be out, no way to spin their (at the very least) tangential creation of the culture- given their respective positions as head of the 2 largest revenue generating sports for the university ; not to mention how much smoke revolves around both their tenures.

Dantonios press conferences where he represents himself as the disgruntled victim of a witch hunt are disgusting and vomit inducing. Izzo just looks ready to crack.

Unlike Urban at UF with “health problems” these two waited too long to get out before the blowback from misdeeds and shenanigans blew up in their faces. Urban got out just in time whereas the worst blowback were a series of articles regarding a lack of discipline, controlling local law enforcement, and some extra marital rumors - instead of facing career suicide ala art briles

01/29/2018 - 1:45pm I also hate the fact

That he wasn’t wrapping it up in the 80’s. Guy had a good 3-4 years left of good to great bball in him before being diagnosed with HIV.

01/29/2018 - 10:56am Was for PSU

Healing process began when they beat OSU if I recall correctly, according to Franklin. Now they are recruiting like crazy and winning at a high level and the joe-hadists feel fully redeemed. Sickening.

Maybe we need a “healing process” from RRs stretchgate in order to jump start the program?

01/28/2018 - 3:50pm Rafa in his prime, albeit over a much shorter time span

was better, at least head to head. Rafa's style, which allowed him to dominate Fed head to head (huge lefty topspin forhand to Fed's one handed backhand) madd for a terrible matchup for Fed. However, unlike Federer this same style is so much more grinding and has caused his body to break down more quickly...futhre  Rafa, has 10 on just clay, making Federer clearly superior across all surfaces.

I imagine Roger would have had at least a couple more French Open titles (the only one he one was when Rafa was out) had Rafa not been around.

Roger is clearly the GOAT to me because of all around greatness on all courts as well as longevity.  His smooth play allows him to minimize injury and dominate from a tactical and mental place as well as his obvious phyical gifts due to superior anticipation, all around shot making and coordination.

Love them both and will be a sad day when neither are around the tour any longer.

01/27/2018 - 1:17am Meh

Beyond the gymnastics program and Nassar there has been a shit ton of coverups and looking the other way around criminal acts and sexual assault on both the bball team and football team at MSU.

Just saying “this happens everywhere” is bs deflection. There was smoke around institutional failures here for years... now the fire is fully ablaze

01/23/2018 - 5:03pm MSU vs. PSU student body and alumni

This is what I was referencing in the other threads.  I don't thing MSU fans and alumni are some sort of heros or taking a brave stand by holding this position, but I think we must differentiate the reaction of the PSU Joe-hadists with that of the MSU student body regarding these respective sex crimes cases.

I would like to see more MSU fans and alums condemn Izzo's idiotic comments from the other day as well as have Dantonio acknowledge that their football first culture needs to be cleaned up regarding the treatment of and interaction with women.

01/23/2018 - 4:59pm Correct

We need to recruit some 5* officials to even things out.

01/23/2018 - 4:46pm The handling of the scandal

at the top may be as bad as at Penn State, but I think it is hyperbole to claim that the student body reactions are on par.

Many of the MSU students were trying to protest via petition and/or public protest and were being silenced or denied access.  I'm not saying there is necessarily the public outcry there should be from the alumni, fanbase, student body, etc....but I'm saying it is not fair to lump them all in with the powers that be that are still bumbling along with their heads in the sand and/or were completely complicit.

PSU, on the other hand, was a situation where nearly an entire campus was brainwashed into Paterno-ism and were having riots when his statue was being removed. To this day, they (the students and alumni) still see themselves, Joe Pa's legacy, and the football program as "victims" of Sandusky's crimes. - In the process, putting themselves on par with those that enabled Sandusky all those years.

01/23/2018 - 1:37pm Yes,

They have done many studies on executive level individuals and how certain socipathic traits are advantageous towards success in the corporate / capitalist world.

01/23/2018 - 1:34pm See comment above...

I have not seen much of this although it may indeed exist.  I believe the Joe Pa worship blinded all in Happy Valley to the Sandusky crimes to the level of cult worship.

01/23/2018 - 1:33pm Not the student body....

I want to be fair to the MSU student body which has not behaved like the Joe-hadists after rhe Sandusky scandal at PSU.

Now of course, football and gymnastics are on two completely different levels in terms of fandom, (and who knows how students would react if Dantonio or Izzo were implicated as enablers in this case), but in this particular case I have seen and heard from MSU students that they are sickened and appalled by what is going on with the administration up in EL.

Again, I can't speak for everybody, but the reaction overall on their campus has been very (pro-victim and anti AD and Board of Trustees) and I think it's only fair to make that distinction when comparing their community to that of the zombies in Happy Valley.

That said, Izzo's comments regarding the case were obtuse, ignorant, and shameful and he should be getting a lot of criticism for not challenging the powers that be about what happened and how they enabled Nassar.  I doubt the students as a whole, however, will turn on Izzo for missing the opportunity to be a leader on campus about this issue.

01/23/2018 - 11:53am Add in 1 Aaron Hernandez

per class and they'd just be much scarier in general.

01/21/2018 - 8:02pm Can't pay the players

as much in the NFL as he does at OSU.  Also, can't control a city police department to let players off for crimes the way he can at smaller college towns.

Not a good fit.

01/20/2018 - 3:07pm OSU standards

have become absurd.  You are not BAMA nor will you be.  While you have a healthy budget to pay the players and run a successful football factory consistently pulling in top 3 classes, I don't think Meyer (since burning out at florida, enabling criminals and a murderer, and banging coeds) is quite as aggressive or sociopathic as Saban in terms of winning at all costs.  It's close, but there's a reason Saban is a notch above all others.

OSU and its offense is just stellar agains average or worse defenses and consistently gets exposed by defenses with NFL talent - including Michigan the past two years.

01/20/2018 - 2:53pm So at this point Drevno

is essentially a Harbaugh lackey / hanger-on.  I'm not one to generally shit on coaches after 1 or even 2 years of underperformance at a position or coordinator role.

I remember when Ron English went from the worst D-coordinator to the best D-coordinator ever (according to media / fanbase) so I know there is a lot of variance based on things like coaching staff continuity, player roster, roster age, player development, etc, etc.

That said, Drevno has had 3 years with the O-line and that was supposed to be his specialty, and we still can't keep a QB healthy (from getting hammered on basic blitz packages) for more than 4 games at a time.

Drevno did not show much as play caller this year - so what gives.  Harbaugh hiring a guy to fix the O-line (ala Frey last year), but Drevno keeps his job as co-OC when he has essentially failed to produce where he is a supposed expert?

I love Harbaugh and trust him in almost all decisions, but seems like Drevno is getting special treatment, and not the type of meritocracy that Harbaugh always preaches.

01/19/2018 - 9:42pm Yeah, this is absurd

We petitioned to get Brandon and Hoke fired for concussion-gate, and deservedly so in my opinion as as it showed cracks in leadership, protocol, accountability and competence. Eventually, the adminsitration and powers that be listened and acted, on what was obviously much lesser circumstance (more of a folly than systematic coverup).

This monster molested hundreds of girls using MSU as cover and the students at MSU are not being heard for whatever reason.  This is disgusting.  While PSU fans were delulional Joe-hadist Paterno apologists in aggregate, it seems the MSU student body is pleading for their university to do the right thing here, which they apparently refuse to do by hiding behind lawyers.

01/15/2018 - 11:47pm I’d like more win

But not willing to have the likes of Aaron Hernandez trolling the UM campus.

01/14/2018 - 7:50pm Never bet on the Steelers

in the playoffs.  Quality franchise, shit coach.  Guy is a glorified hype man / cheerleader.  They've been choking away Super Bowl opportunities over the past decade. Cowher was also overrated regarding scheme and game management.

01/14/2018 - 7:45pm Yep...

And needs to be heat up the middle.  Tom is not fleet of foot, but he is the master of crafty in pocket manuevering to evade the rush - particularly when it comes off the edge.

Get a rush up in his face, don't allow him to slide into small pockets from where he can throw, and you have a formula to beat the Pats.

That said, Belicheck knows this and will scheme to get Gronk and scat backs to release on quick outs and screen passes to force the linebackers into difficult coverage matchups.  IMO, this game is won based on the Jags ability to tackle in space and hold up the recievers (and Gronk) at the line of scrimmage for just long to let that pass rush get in Brady's face.  Should be a good one.

01/13/2018 - 2:35pm Can Beilein

Double as our OC on the football field?

01/09/2018 - 11:35pm He achieves orgasm

when urban deficates all over his chest.

When Jim Harbaugh smiles, however, he goes limp.

01/09/2018 - 11:26pm Leave the conference

Refs suck, but it's not a coin flip situation where we get jobbed 50% of the time and lucky the other half.

We just seem to get fucked by Delaney's henchmen.

01/09/2018 - 11:22pm Jim Harbaugh

must have been at the game.  Was probably breathing too hard for the refs / Delaney's liking.

This is getting quite absurd.

Leave the fucking conference.  Fuck em.

01/09/2018 - 5:10am It tells me the board is full of mostly Polly-Anna’s

That can’t see past 1 year.
Bama is a beast of a program. We were an elite team last year and should have made the playoff- bad luck and shit officiating cost us that opportunity.

We had the youngest team in the country this year and we sit on here comparing our season to that of programs stock piled with talent from years past. Yes, a bunch of freshmen, including bamas qb made huge plays, but none of that happens unless the foundation (o-line, d-line, etc) are solid.

Get a grip and stop conflating the past 15 years of UM football with the Harbaugh era. We saw last year how we can perform with a more experienced team (under just 2 years of Harbaugh and staff coaching) and we will continue to progress in that direction.

Top 10 classes without gaps (like during the Home-Harbaugh transition) will keep us in the hunt most years going forward. We will not reach bama level, but I expect plenty of playoff appearances so long as Harbaugh is around.

01/09/2018 - 12:03am Name doesn't check out

Putin believing in something other than complete personal power and control?   Who are you and where is the real Vlad?
