Things I was told last night re: Ole Miss trio

Submitted by GhostofJermain… on

I was told last night that Shea and Anderson will announce their commitments before they leave today, and that both are going to enroll in January.  John Falk was at the hoops game and was giving all the recruits a tour of the locker room.  One of the parents (not sure who) said they have never seen anything like the red carpet Michigan rolls out.

I asked about VJ as well.  Was told that they did not have a great read on VJ like they did the other two.  Also VJ had some friends and family visiting him from his Saint Mary's days, he was yucking it up with Bigs 2.0, and I thought he was having a great time and would be coming as well. I did talk directly to him and wished him well, I have not seen him since 2015 and he has grown and bulked up, he told me that his dad had Megatron visit the dolphins practice a few times this year, and that his father still keeps in touch with CJ as well as many other lions players and coaches. He also said he misses being in the D, and he was not sure if he was going to go on any more visits, but did admit many schools reaching out.  One other thing that did happen during the game: Nico, DPJ, and Black rolled in late all together and I must admit they looked like 3 NFL players, also looked like great friends.

Lastly, in regards to Barrett and Patterson (OL).  I did not see much of them, I think Barrett arrived late and was doing pictures and some catching up.  Patterson I never saw, but I think he was with the coaches and at Schem Hall.  All the attention was on Casear and the group of guys he was running around with that included Shea and others.

The vibe at Crisler and around lunch and dinner was awesome.  They may all commit (5), but the coaches have been told for a fact that Anderson and Shea are in and enrolling early.

One last thing.  The coaches, on JH orders are being very careful with the Ole Miss kids.  When in doubt refer to compliance, and this may have something to do with why Shea and Anderson have not made it offical yet.  Not saying that for sure, but they are all being extra careful.  Yesterday, I saw 3x the coaches and staff huddle up to talk about something in regards to the recruits etc.

on any inside information. He was just looking at playing time transfer possibilities, just like any of us might. There is always/almost always attrition for other reasons too. Those are much harder to predict, but the coaches usually have a good idea of what's likely to happen.

nico, dpj, and black all looked like nfl players. That's huge, especially for guys finishing their first semester of their freshman year. for the longest time, Alabama, lsu, usc players looked like men. when they would come out at pre game it looked like men against boys. I've told my wife several times this year that Michigan's players looked like men. they don't look like they are going to get pushed around. they look like they are going to do the pushing. its nice to see this.

This confirms what Patterson said to the press after the UCLA game, namely that the athletic department/coaches told him they shouldn't take questions or comment to the press.

Strategically I think this is less about contamination/fallout of the investigation and more about UM knowing it needs to be sensitive. It's about to pull a big coup. We aren't just entertaining one player who decided to transfer out to UM after getting the green light from the school and NCAA; this is a trio of their best players. We already know the NCAA changed its recruiting rules because of Harbaugh's earlier success down south in camps, and that many coaches down their like to complain so much that the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Michigan has to do this right, quickly, and get permission from the NCAA for 2018 eligibility for this to work. The argument is there since they released players because of the fiasco. If they say no, its not really different than a normal transfer requiring players to sit out a year. The legal argument is probably there, its just getting that final confirmation before down south goes crazy at NFL recruiting tactics complaints and subsequent knee jerk reactions by the NCAA.

The non-issues that will still probably factor into the NCAA's decision:

In favor of immediate eligibility- UM isn't ranked, isn't  going to play Ole Miss anytime soon, and is a good academic institition (it's harder to say no when the kids clearly benefit).

Opposed to immediate eligibility- It's Harbaugh, and he's threatening coaches everywhere.

I think many would agree; just don’t bring that shady shit that goes on at Ole Miss here.

If you are ready to compete for a starting spot, focus on school and being a ethical person. Bring it on and welcome!

You said that perfectly. That is exactly where Michigan's concerns lie. They will get the players, they just want them to be able to play next year. Ole miss allready threw out some lame statement that really means nothing, but until the eligibility is ruled on Michigan just wants it to remain quiet.

The lawsuit hanging over the ncaa and ole miss heads is why I believe the players will get there eligibility. Michigan is rightfully being cautious mainly because their waiting on the ruling, not anything to do with players transferring. Ole Miss has allready given permission for that allthough reluctantly as they had zero choice. I also think there is zero choice in the waivers, but will see.

first and foremost is the Team. Wins.

Second Peters is a RS freshman and McAffrey is a true freshman. Ideally they play two seasons get out of College HEALTHY well experienced at the TOP of their game and then hold a clipboard in the NFL a few years before becoming starters.

Waiting their turn to enter in college or pro when ready. Like a Tom Brady.
Like most QBs who have had long successful careers. I don’t see many QB who started 4 or even 3 years having longer or better careers than 2 year starters.

How many current NFL starters started more than 2 years in college? Pretty sure ed McCaffrey gets this.

Don’t know if you guys saw Shea partying with O’Korn last night...but if I’m Peters that does not sit well with me.
