What are you interested to see in the bowl game?

2 fast scores early with a balanced offense, then the rest of the game on the ground
>400 yds rushing
>35 minutes time of possession
defensive shutout
+2 or more on turnovers
And then, after the game, I want to hear the same speech as Saturday. "We worked hard. I love coaching these guys. We've got to get better. That continues tomorrow"
November 27th, 2017 at 2:56 PM ^
It's fun to see them whip out the part of the playbook you never typically see in the bowl games, although that can also be frustrating, but I would be far more interesting in seeing a nice, dominating performance on both sides of the ball from start to finish. If nothing else, it would end the season on a relatively high note and give us something upbeat to discuss as we fade into the football-less morass of hoops and other news in January.

of abuse:
What I am looking for is the ability to field a Quarterback who was NOT incapacitated by an illegal/dirty hit.

I'd like to see Michigan play Arizona. Off-the-charts "human interest" angle *and* a team that Michigan could handily beat. (I think we match up very well with them.)
November 27th, 2017 at 7:46 PM ^
Arizona has the best running qb in the country. We suck against running qbs. Pass.

...before it's over. Kinda an annual tradition. That Mrs. Sleepy mos def hates.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:50 PM ^
Maybe if you stopped after a couple you wouldn't be quite so sleepy. But then she would be "Mrs. More Rested" which doesn't quite have the same ring.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:24 PM ^
nice to haves include
a couple of deep passes
hitting open wrs
good pass pro
younger DT/LBs getting reps
no injuries
November 27th, 2017 at 3:12 PM ^
I would want to see it in person. It's not that far of a drive from where I live.
And, I would like to see a dominating win!

YES !

A continuation of the generally better OL play from the OSU game, and playcalling for Peters that digs deeper into the playbook.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:25 PM ^
The 2008 Florida gameplan with Peters.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:26 PM ^
November 27th, 2017 at 2:45 PM ^
Let's see what the likly 2018 interior OL combo of Bredeson, Ruiz and Onwenu can do against the big boy DL from Stanford.
November 27th, 2017 at 4:22 PM ^
I like the idea of starting Ruiz and Onwenu, but wonder if you accomodate that by kicking Bredesen out to RT to see what he looks like there in game action.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:26 PM ^
I want to see Stanford play Michigan...although...a USC/Michigan Holiday Bowl would be more interesting to me than a Washington/Michigan Holiday Bowl...
...other than that, I'm ready to see a fully repped Peters play with a greaters assortment of plays and weapons.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:26 PM ^
That's what I'd love to see. If we're seeing that, we're seeing decent play from the OL, QB, and whomever is catcing the passes.

don't you just not post anymore?
Are you doing the thing where you want off MGoBlog as kind of "life change" thing? Where you decide Michigan football and this blog aren't healthy anymore and you decide you are going "to go in a different direction" with things. Yeah, I used to get that. I have realized now that there is nothing I can do and Michigan football will be part of my life no matter how much it hurts.

with the Detroit Lions!
Btw/ I am really excited about Michigan in 2018. The intelligent folks on this Board have been talking about 2017 being the year after "The Year" and before "The Year Part 2".
We will be a top 10 team next year either in the CFP or in the conversation late - put that in the bank. And we won't look back thereafter...
November 27th, 2017 at 2:26 PM ^
Brandon Peters, mainly.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:27 PM ^
I think we've missed darn near every deep shot that we've taken(Wilton to Tarik was different). Would love to see DPJ beat his man and Peters put one in his bread basket.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:56 PM ^
But agreed that I would love to see a couple more times!
November 27th, 2017 at 3:43 PM ^
Gah!!! As nice as that was to see, Peters should have put that ball inside the hashes. If he did that, DPJ doesn't have to change directions and easily wins the footrace to the endzone.
But let's take what we got... LOL!!
November 27th, 2017 at 3:55 PM ^
Starting next year, Peters starts hitting that throw with some regularity. He did it in high school so no reason to believe he can't do it now.
If he struggles, McCaffery will swoop in.
November 27th, 2017 at 4:18 PM ^
he threw that pass into a 20 mph wind ....
Go Blue!
November 27th, 2017 at 2:27 PM ^
We played 85% of the time like Alabama, and 15% of the time like Illinois.
In the bowl game, I'd like to see that 15% improve from Illinois to Indiana or better.

running the whole offense. This is an excellent time to get prepared for next season.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:31 PM ^
It would be nice to see Ruiz legitimately supplant Kugler so we can have MAXIMUM BEEF on the interior line. This would make me feel much better about next year. Also, healthy Peters with a gameplan tailored to him behind an OL that's performing much better would be nice. Hopefully the scheme can get guys screamingly open again in the bowl and Peters can connect with DPJ a number of times.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:32 PM ^
No injuries!
November 27th, 2017 at 2:32 PM ^
- MOAR Peters
- MOAR Evans
- MOAR DPJ
- A big, dominating, brilliant win

Tarik Black. The coaches should not pursue a medshirt as he won't be here for the duration of his eligibility, and he should be healthy. I think the practice and game experience are more valuable to him/our offense than a potential extra year of eligibility.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:39 PM ^
Most winnable game possible, even if it means a less prestigious bowl. Let Northwestern and MSU go ahead of us in the bowl pecking order.
That and if Peters starts, I'd like to see him get through the entire game without missing a play for injury.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:46 PM ^
that is possible... we are slotted for Holiday Bowl and Stanford or Washington
prefer not Washington...they would expose our weak safety play
November 27th, 2017 at 2:51 PM ^
I’ll take Stanford.
November 27th, 2017 at 3:07 PM ^
Washington is done playing and 10-2. They will easily finish in the top 16 in the CFP rankings (probably 12 or 13) and are in line for the best bowl bid from the Pac-12. They're much more likely to get an NY6 bowl than fall to the Holiday Bowl. I would be shocked if our opponent was anyone other than Stanford or Washington State.
Edit: maybe you meant Washington State and not Washington. My apologies if so.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:48 PM ^
and I are disagreeing today. I want to play in the Holiday Bowl against a good PAC 10 team. I don't want to play in the Red Lobster Bowl against Wake Forest Tech or somebody. If Peters plays we are good enough to play with or beat Stanford, Washington, etc. A Michigan v. Stanford matchup in the Holiday Bowl would be really cool and one of the premiere non NY6 bowl games.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:55 PM ^
I think at this point in Harbaugh's tenure a win in a bowl game is more important than a good matchup. But money will win out.
November 27th, 2017 at 2:40 PM ^
Some reason to believe QB play will be a strength next year.
