I think this BP20umfan and Shawn are one in the same.  They follow each other.  My gut tells me this BP20 is taking stuff from Shawn and posting here.

06/22/2018 - 9:07pm Perhaps my biggest issue is…

Perhaps my biggest issue is the focus is solely recruiting.  Michigan did not lose to OSU, MSU, or Wisconsin because of recruiting.  Michigan lost to those teams because they did not execute when they needed to.  They did not pick up a first down late in a game, or they fumbled (2 MSU & USC).

This is the area Michigan has to be better.  They need to make the handful of plays which decide a game.  If they do this, and that is a big if, then they will have a very successful season.  Going on the road and winning a meaningful game.  These are some areas in which one can and perhaps should be critical.  But to have sift through post after post about Bama...5*...recruiting rankings is downright exhausting.  Shit, I live in this horrible state.  I hear about Bama football 20 times a day.  Let me tell you, it gets old quickly.

i love having football conversations.  Conversation where there is give and take.  Not a pissing contest to prove who is right.  It should not be about that.  Give and take; I can assure you that all of us can learn from some of the really smart guys on this board.

Go back to the Iowa game. Sure they played poorly, but they still had the ball late in the game with the lead.  It is times like these when everyone in the stadium knows a run is coming and you still run the ball to pick up the first down and ice the game.  This is called execution.  Simply put, out execute the opponent.

It’s really more of a plea to the folks who run this site.  Perhaps if they see how bad it is getting they will remove the account.  I believe in the power of numbers.

By all means, throw out some suggestions on how to make him go away??

06/22/2018 - 11:31am You see, BLUEY, Dr. played…

You see, BLUEY, Dr. played at Michigan, Magnus coaches football, UMBIG11 obviously know football and is well connected.

you, what's your story?  Still waiting for your response.

it seems that you are just a regular guy sitting behind a keyboard who has ZERO idea about the actual game of football

06/22/2018 - 11:23am Bluey, answer my question. …

Bluey, answer my question.  What are your football credentials?  Where did you play your college ball?  Where do you coach right now?  What make your 'expert' eye better than the Michigan coaching staff?

i can read about the recruiting experts, but I am interested in your background.  It seems that you simply go to a recruiting site and look at the players ranking and that is the extent of your basically you have shown that you can read.

06/22/2018 - 11:05am Bluey, where did you play…

Bluey, where did you play your college ball?

I can tell ya that the good Dr. played for Michigan.

There are traits that people who have played at a high level can see in prospects.

I am serious, what is your football background?  What makes your eye more trustworthy than the Michigan coaching staff?

06/22/2018 - 10:59am There are many sites out…

There are many sites out there with good information.

Maybe much of this will go away once the season starts and Michigan starts winning football games.

I pray that Michigan has a successful season and this ass hat Bluey goes away.

Its not that I wear rose colored glasses and can't listen to negatives, it's the fact that his argument about recruiting is exhausting.  I have followed recruiting for years.  I have watched so many 'can't miss five stars' bust.  #1 RB in the county who going to be a program changer.  Best QB to ever commit.

Again, it's what they do when they get on campus.  What is their ceiling.  Are they maxed out in high school?  I'll leave it up to the staff to figure those things out.

06/22/2018 - 10:47am MODS, can we get an ignore…

MODS, can we get an ignore option on this new site?

There has to be a way to put a poster on silent or ignore.  That person can still post, but I don't have to read if I put them on ignore or silent....I beg of you, please make this happen.

06/22/2018 - 10:33am Great point.  I am spending…

Great point.  I am spending less and less time on this site.

I have to get through 75 useless posts from Bluey for every great post from Magnus, UMBIG11, and Dr Magnus.

It is getting bad.

06/22/2018 - 10:29am Give it a rest.

He has not…

Give it a rest.

He has not even player his senior season...high school senior season.

How about we wait and see where these kids end up before judging?

Spare me the argument that Bama, OSU etc only recruit 5*'s.  Recruiting is filled with hits and misses.

Would it matter if this kid has a monster senior season and becomes a 4*?  Does it matter that player development is a huge part of any successful program?  Sure, it is great to have top 200 kids across the board, but if you can't develop them then it does not matter what the rankings say.

Yes, it appears Michigan will miss on Dixon.  Move on.

06/20/2018 - 8:03pm Bluey, maybe you are a troll…

Bluey, maybe you are a troll maybe not.

what I find interesting is that you are making assumptions before the 2018 class ever takes the field for a meaningful snap.

how about we wait for a couple of years before we judge a class?

hypothetically speaking, what if a couple of the 'lower ranked' players end up being All Big Ten players?  Maybe they don't.  Maybe they end up being scholarship players 80-85.  Again, we will not know the answer for a couple of years.  The vast majority will red shirt this year and have a chance to develop (which is one of the reasons Harbaugh and his staff are paid so handsomely).

sorry if I trust lifelong football men vs a doucer on the interwebs.

but hey, that's just my opinion

Am I reading too much into your comment?

Will he be at Michigan beyond fall camp If he does not earn the starting job?

06/01/2018 - 12:25pm So many to choose from

A couple of guys I really loved as Wolverines:
Alan Branch
Jake Long
Mike Martin
Tryone Wheatley
Braylon Edwards
Brandon Graham
Charles Woodson
LaMarr Woodley
Anthony Thomas

05/26/2018 - 10:18am Spot on

so the opposite must be true then. It should have been a major plus for Michigan that Najee Harris and Hand (both from out of state with one being from California) came down to Michigan vs Alabama.

Look, kids choose schools for many different reasons. I highly doubt this will have an impact. This recruitment seemed to go sideways from day 1. Michigan had about zero chance to land Dobbs. It happens

05/25/2018 - 10:42pm Well, it does not say all players outside of the top 25 are all

The same. I am so tired of people banging of Dudek and this staff about recruiting. I am going to trust that they have done the homework and know what they are doing.

05/25/2018 - 9:43pm How is it not a great look for future recruiting?

I guess I don't understand how losing out on a kid which everyone knew was not coming to Michigan is a bad look for future recruiting? Perhaps from Belleville, but I don't see how this impacts anything beyond that.

05/25/2018 - 9:29pm Will Campbell

Will Campbell was not a bad football player. He made it to the NFL. I just saw a player at Michigan that could have been much more based on potential alone. Perhaps it was the coaching at the time or position switches.
This is no slight on Big Will. I just saw a kid that took until his senior season for things to start to come together.

05/25/2018 - 9:16pm When/where did he say that?

05/25/2018 - 9:00pm Very true

However, he spent more time on the ground than on his feet. For being a top 15 player, I'd expect more wins than losses

05/25/2018 - 8:58pm I'm predicting a Will Campbell type

I just get the feeling Dobbs will struggle to fulfill his potential.

For his sake I hope I am wrong

05/25/2018 - 8:54pm Dobbs at the opening last summer

The first 40 seconds is worth a watch. My favorite part is 26 seconds in.

05/17/2018 - 10:19am Put Ole Miss on that list also

You listed some great places, and I would love to attend a game at each place.

I know we don't care for Ole Miss right now, but I have never talked to a person who was disappointed with the trip to the grove.

05/17/2018 - 10:15am Rose Bowl is a dream trip for me

I can't wait for Michigan to make it back to the Rose Bowl. I am now at a place in life where I can make a trip like that from time to we just need Michigan to do their part!

05/17/2018 - 10:07am Bryant-Denny

The environment in Tuscaloosa is amazing. The stadium is loud as 75% of the fans have had several cool libations. The fans in the south live and die with their chosen team. It is really a fantastic site to see.

05/06/2018 - 6:23pm Agree with you

Ohio is a state I wish Michigan recruited better. A ton of very good players in that state.

I am not going to argue the under the radar vs 5 star thing. You have to have a mix of guys. Talent is talent at the end of the day. Give me a high performing QB and a good running game...I don't care if that comes from 3* or 5*.

05/06/2018 - 5:16pm I agree with a modification

In state recruiting is important for every school in the country.

I would modify by saying 'getting the right guys'. Guys that fit the system.

05/06/2018 - 2:29pm I think the good Dr. Answered your question

Brown grew up a Wisconsin fan and it was his dream offer/school

05/04/2018 - 8:45am We shouldn't have to think that hard

The point is very well taken. It is amazing how long it has been since Michigan has fielded a dominant offensive line. Sure we can mention a guy here and there, but to put five guys together who play great as a unit, you have to go way back.
Here's to big summer development and a few guys stepping up. If Michigan can get 'good' line play (run and pass blocking), then I believe Michigan will be relevant nationally going into the OSU game. At that point, we will see. My personal expectation for Michigan is to be relevant nationally and the winner of The Game moves on to play for the Big Ten Title and beyond.

05/03/2018 - 8:34am That is a very good point

I always think about the long list of QBs Michigan sent to the NFL. I hadn't really thought about the offensive line like that until your comment. You are absolutely correct, Michigan has had so many outstanding college offensive linemen over the years.

It is always a good thing to see first hand what good looks like and learn from that.

Great post.

05/02/2018 - 10:28pm Thank you

You answered my question perfectly. I am still concerned about LT. I think the other 4 guys will be very solid. As long as the LT position is adequate, I feel the pieces are in place for this unit to take a big step forward.

05/02/2018 - 6:24pm Summer development question

Magnus, since coaches are not allowed to work with players directly during summer break, my question is:
How do the offensive lineman continue to develop? I get that the strength coach will work with them, but how do the work on technique/development? Is it possible for a young guy to make a huge leap without true hands on coaching?

04/27/2018 - 10:16am I see the it the other way

If he doesn't tweak the language then they could be a pain in the ass.

This is part of the negotiation. Simply make the changes and move on. No sense in rocking the boat at the 12th hour.

04/16/2018 - 9:03pm I can't disagree about those misses

I do not think it is a trend. I am not an expert at all. I did watch this kids video and it looks impressive. He seemed to have quick feet and mauled his assignment. Now, I don't think it is the highest level of football.

My gut tells me that this kid is going to move up the rankings significantly.

04/16/2018 - 8:48pm I think he is talking about overall team rankings

I hope that is what he means. I think it was ESPN who looked at team class rankings and there is a correlation to making the CFP. However, it is not based on 1 class. It looks at the class rankings over time and produces an average. So yes, Alabama, OSU, Clemson, FSU have done very well.

04/16/2018 - 8:30pm I agree to a certain extent

Like you mentioned, it's over time. Plenty of people freak out about Michigan's 2018 class. Yes, I wish they could have landed a couple bigger names. As long as 2018 is the outlier, Michigan will be just fine. so many folks act like it was a class completely void of talent. That class has plenty of talent. The previous 2 classes were loaded. The 2019 class if off to a very nice start. When you look at the 4 year period, Michigan has done very well.

No single recruit can make or break a program (maybe a truly elite QB).

04/16/2018 - 6:06pm Thanks

You know your stuff.

04/16/2018 - 5:59pm Wow

I am expected your answer would be Michigan would come out ahead. 'Not even close', that surprises me a little bit.
Barnett, any chance Michigan can work a flip?

04/16/2018 - 5:52pm Michigan gets Harrison and OSU gets Dobbs

Which team gets the better player?

04/16/2018 - 5:42pm Thanks

This made me laugh. Maybe a new position coach and a fresh face can jumpstart his interest in Michigan.

04/16/2018 - 5:38pm And it's fun to read the tweets from people

The star gazers are brutal!!!

04/16/2018 - 5:36pm Dobbs is interesting

Why do you think the Dobbs recruitment has never really taken off? I have read that he did not like Michigan waiting to offer, but that wouldn't seem to be a deal breaker.
