Purdue is not a good D.  When a backup comes in they have a nothing to lose attitude.  I think Sp8 has gotten too conservative which is an issue and might be the only difference betwen them.

If O'Korn is better (now) than Sp8 because he is struggling (and assuming Harbaugh has seen this too), then it might also suggest that Sp8's upside is much better and Harbaugh is hoping for that to return.  Sp8 had better games last year against much better teams than Purdue.

That said, I agree that O'Korn has deserved a chance.  I just think, as a community, we over-react to the latest datapoint.

This is such a BS. JOK had pressure in his face and delivered a perfect pass in this game. Go back and check. May be he is not perfect but to say that based on what you saw today is utter BS. May be he won't do well in the future but you are not talking about today's game.

Baring a freak JOK practice injury, the ONLY way I see him not starting is if Harbaugh wants someone with more experience in a rivalry game. However, it would be a weak reason. Based on today's performance and how good the passing offense looked with JOK, there shouldn't even be a debate.

The OLine is still turrible. O'Korn will probably gunsling his way into some bad turnovers. We don't know if his long ball is any good.

If opposing defenses adjust to the new TE heavy passing game, will he be able to go through progressions?

(Anyway I think at this point he earned the right to start till he sucks. But you asked for reasons why he shouldn't. Really, given the weakness of the OLine, maybe we need a scrambler like O'Korn even if Speight is the better drop back pro-style guy)

JOK 3rd down sack avoidance magic + completion to Perry while backed deep in our own zone.   This was potentially a season saving play.    Play. Of. The. Year.  (so far).

Also, HELLO TIGHT ENDS!

Ulizio is not good. Speight got Alex Smith'd. Idk what is up with our RBs or Oline. TEs!!!!

I'm picturing Pep Hamilton ripping away the playbook from Drevno in halftime, which is why the play calls got better in the 2nd half lol.

Also the WRs are kinda questionable too even if they're young.

Whoa. Wait a sec..is it Pep or Drevno???? I hear people going ape over Drevno but Pep is the new guy and not a peep about him. I never liked his Colts O but charted that up to personnel. Rip Drevno if merited but I think it's Pep

Playcalling was night and day more aggressive in the second half and forced Purdue to respect the pass and open up some running lanes.  No matter how bad a D is they can look good with 9 in the box and running into the middle multple series in a row on first and second down.

Was very happy with the change to pass first in the second half and get the ball to the TEs more than the rest of the year.  Gentry, McKeon, Eubanks can play and need to be targeted a lot more.

I think this team inadvertently revealed itself as being much more effective as a pass first team. Okorn made quick decisions, TEs were very reliable and the RB’s were effective when the D loosened up. The Oline wasn’t asked to block for too long and okorn made plays with his feet. I think there’s much more potential for Evans out of the backfield with this attack. That is, if the coaching staff isn’t too stubborn to air it out a bit.

I said he was the main problem .... hopefully Harbaugh announces JOK is the new starter and he gets this bye week to be ready for MSU

1. O'korn looked sharp and seems to give the team the best chance to win in the future

2. stop the fucking HB pitches and sweeps, they are suicide with this o-line

3. Our o-line is disappointing and hopefully Runyan gets a shot.

10 carries for 31 yards, 1 rec 11 yards and a lost fumble, and a general inability to assist with the pass rush that led directly to a sack. We hear all about his speed and burst, if he had shown it on the reception it would have been a chunk play, instead he had the ball knocked out from behind.

I would not categorize that a good game.

Was atrocious in first have sans one drive. Second half they finally ran more crossing routes and routes that didn't take 5 minutes to develop. Amazing the difference.

Seemed like it was a combination of being more willing to throw on earlier downs as well as throwing shorter passes and those tight end crossing routes.  I think that if Speight did not get injured, the playcalling would have moved in that direction anyway, since we weren't getting a lot in the ground game anyway.weren't moving the ball well enough on the ground.  I don't think that playcalling is unique to O'Korn.  Now, spinning out of a sack on third down to hit Perry on the TD drive is more unique to him, but the coaches can't be planning around that happening.

Also need to compliment JOK's pocket presence.  Much improved over previous games.   I saw only one instance of pure happy feet that led to flabbergasted scramble to nowhere.

He stepped up in the pocket nicely on numerous occasions to make plays.

let's all remember that purdue's defense is terrible. let's wait til the MSU game to annoint KornDaddy.

that being said, PRACTICE is PRACTICE. the GAME is the GAME. i don't care how much film coaches have of PRACTICE, some players make plays in the GAME.

unfortunately, i can't say i told you so b/c i thought Peters had more upside than O'Korn. BOY WAS I WRONG. CHOOO CHOOO O'KORN HYPE TRAIN.
