12/11/2018 - 11:05am But he could take a semester…

But he could take a semester's worth of credits at a community college and transfer those credits into Michigan (obviously working with Michigan to make sure they all transfer in accordingly) so he wouldn't be "behind" and could also get a 5th year grad degree.

I mean, my local community college is $150/ credit (16 credits @ $150) = $2,400.

If I had the choice (and skills and height and motivation...) I'd rather go to a big time program like Michigan as a greyshirt than maybe be a starter for 1 year at a random MAC School.

12/08/2018 - 10:11pm Who cares? Are you a Rutgers…

Who cares? Are you a Rutgers fan? If my uncle was not a man, hot, my age range, and not my uncle, and liked me, and ...

12/08/2018 - 9:53pm It's not flukey. Flukey is…

It's not flukey. Flukey is why the Citadel was tied (or maybe losing very slightly) with Bama at halftime. 5* guys are the ones that decide games at crunchtime. We don't have many of those.

12/08/2018 - 9:33pm If your goal as a 5*…

If your goal as a 5* football player was to "win games", why do so many sit out Bowl Games?

Why have many decide to to come back after injury, during their draft year?

Why have so many choose a school other than Bama, OSU, or Georgia?

12/08/2018 - 9:30pm Saban manipulates these kids…

Saban manipulates these kids every year into making Harbaugh think he has a highly rated/ wanted kid and then... "surprise" kid chooses Bama. That means Harbaugh can't recruit other (maybe slightly lower ranked) kids and scares off others.

Then, boom... 2 weeks before signing day and... kid flips to Bama, as a complete surprise. scramble for Harbaugh.

Dax could have told M sooner, he could have not poisoned other recruits.

I don't. My Michigan fandom on a scale of 1-10

Football: 10, MBB: 6, Hockey: 2

It's only because I didn't play or watch hockey as a kid.

12/06/2018 - 2:00pm Wow. They need to take 25…

Wow. They need to take 25 and are only at 15 as of now? Seems like a lot of ground to make up.

12/06/2018 - 1:32pm It's because UM's class has…

It's because UM's class has so many players? On 247, UM's average rating is 90.1 while OSU's is 92.3 (pretty close)

12/06/2018 - 10:47am I like it or even have 10…

I like it or even have 10 conference games, 2 random games and have a neutral party vote for the champion or have a vote for the 2 best teams and have them play for the championship.

The only problem is ND, since they don't have a conference.

He actually lost a lot by coming back to MSU this season.

12/05/2018 - 8:29pm Diagonal Blue, I disagree…

Diagonal Blue, I disagree with your opinions on the M staff, but am sorry I called you an asshole before.

Good post.

True Fr. starting RB, like our man Mike Hart?

12/04/2018 - 4:48pm It's the difference between…

It's the difference between a CEO and COO in a company. The COO typically knows how the sausage is made, while the CEO says what types of sausage they want made.

In football, I'd say a CEO coach

  • Focuses on recruiting, fundraising, positive media coverage
  • Has coordinators that do the daily stuff (call plays, teach the technicals, draw up plays...) while the CEO Coach gives the philosophy of the O & D (e.g. I want an ultra aggressive, blitzing D knowing that we will give up more big plays)
  • Networks like a monster, so always has a next coordinator to hire, since his get poached.

I think the most successful ones were Mack Brown and Les Miles (which is why it's not crazy that they are HCs, even though they are old). While the most successful hands-on coaches are masters at one side of the ball Saban (D) and Urban (O).

The main issue is making sure you can constantly replace coordinators and don't become too dependent on one.

12/04/2018 - 1:13pm a QB coach that was fired…

a QB coach that was fired from the Eagles and 49ers. Day was co-OC at OSU with Kevin Wilson, under an offensive oriented head coach.

This is a home run hire for Michigan!

Brian, I’d pay to have the option to block posters like this guy. Complete asshole.

The gain, is:

1) We beat a top 10 SEC team on the road (or at least in the South)

2) Get 11 wins

3) Gain momentum with key recruits that reinforces that Michigan can win on the big stage

4) Sort of make up for the prior game (or at least show that the O and D are actually good)

5) Don't have to keep listening to Michigan's "lack of speed"

12/03/2018 - 10:54am Yup and a win will likely…

Yup and a win will likely land us a final ranking in the top 5 (not too shabby!)

12/03/2018 - 10:53am The money argument makes no…

The money argument makes no sense. Florida and Michigan fans will sell out basically any bowl matchup and will all watch the game on TV. The same is true for ~10-15 other teams.

I don't see how there is more or less money involved in these scenarios for anybody:

1) Michigan v Florida & LSU v UCF

2) Michigan v LSU & Florida v UCF

In fact, #2 would be more interesting to a casual fan and certainly everybody in the state of Florida (even the FSU & Miami fans).

12/02/2018 - 5:39pm This is the problem with the…

This is the problem with the CFB Playoffs (not that Michigan would have had any shot at a Natty in the prior systems), but every other bowl game has lost it's luster.

12/02/2018 - 12:34pm I still don’t understand how…

I still don’t understand how Michigan gives up 62 points and half of the fan base is mad because we play “dinosaur” ball and Pep needs to go.

It makes no sense.

11/30/2018 - 12:21pm Lol, now we know why…

Lol, now we know why Harrison committed. (I would have too, so no judgement)

11/30/2018 - 11:50am Go to hell.

Go to hell.

11/30/2018 - 6:52am As an aside, JD was probably…

As an aside, JD was probably the best M CB that Don brown has had. 2 INTs in year 2 and 3rd rounder.

11/30/2018 - 6:50am Barstool is like buzzfeed,…

Barstool is like buzzfeed, only without the occasional actual piece of journalism. It’s a fun site, but they just want ad revenue.

11/29/2018 - 9:42pm OP, are you a marketing…

OP, are you a marketing shrill?

Mods should delete this.

11/29/2018 - 4:20pm It's off that he's…

It's off that he's committing to a team without an OC, to a HC with a defensive background.

11/29/2018 - 10:00am Either go with FCS style…

Either go with FCS style playoffs or go back to the old bowl system. This half-implemented 4 team playoff doesn't solve anything, especially if a 1 B1G or B12 champ is left out and ND doesn't even play a Championship game.

11/28/2018 - 9:32pm I met him once. Very good,…

I met him once. Very good, nice kid. Blue Runyan blood!

11/28/2018 - 9:03pm I think it's that. He's a…

I think it's that. He's a great coach, but isn't winning a Natty at either school. If he wants a premier job or wants an NFL job, his path is much quicker at Purdue (which is a win for Purdue too).

11/28/2018 - 8:59pm So, your answer is to do…

So, your answer is to do what everybody else is doing. This is like Blockbuster offering mail order DVDs in 2007 (or whenever they did it). It doesn't work. It's not who Harbaugh is.

OSU scored at will. They dropped another 2-3 TDs. This is not on the offense. I mean how the hell does a team score 62 points on you and the fans blame the offense? Oh...duh...should ev scored 63..., I guess.

11/28/2018 - 8:44am The difference is that…

The difference is that Michigan PAID Harbaugh and gave him CASH for his staff. Lousiville is lowballing Brohm (even going so far as to wait a week, costing staff hiring and recruiting to suffer to save $1M).

The other difference is that Louisville is a nobody in the football world, while Michigan is (and was even though we had a poor ~7 year stretch when Harbaugh was hired) a blue blood.

Michigan gave Harbaugh the AD he wanted, upgraded already world class facilities, switched to Nike, all partially for Harbaugh (a dude like Hoke wouldn't have gotten nearly as much money).

Finally, Harbaugh is just as famous/ more known as the Michigan coach than the 49ers coach (or the Colt's coach, if he went to Indy instead). Brohm won't get that fame bounce from Purdue to Louisville.

11/27/2018 - 4:38pm USC to get Kliff Kingsberry…

USC to get Kliff Kingsberry. Homerun hire by them.

This strategy seems much better than firing the coach. Give him boss coordinators first.

11/27/2018 - 4:35pm I read that he promised…

I read that he promised Karlaftis’ family that he was staying at Purdue, so who knows.

11/21/2018 - 1:14pm This is why Ohio is a…

This is why Ohio is a terrible place to live. Mike Webber went to OSU and (OSU & MSU have recruited quite a few others from Michigan without the kid's city hating them. Get a life!

LOL, I read it as future, like he'd be a commentator or something.

11/20/2018 - 2:14pm Would be a great hire for…

Would be a great hire for USC. Franklin is as Hollywood as it gets!

11/19/2018 - 3:49pm LOL.

LOL.

11/19/2018 - 3:49pm This game has rarely been a…

This game has rarely been a cakewalk for OSU, even when we when Michigan was in our dark period.

11/19/2018 - 1:57pm I got 20-16, M>OSU

I got 20-16, M>OSU

11/19/2018 - 1:53pm This attitude has been…

This attitude has been absent from Michigan football for way too long.

11/18/2018 - 12:32pm So, is Red Zone Offense…

So, is Red Zone Offense still not real?

11/17/2018 - 6:00pm Exactly, this is basically…

Exactly, this is basically how every Michigan game goes. Close at the half, then Don Brown  makes adjustments, D plays better and the unlucky breaks for the O in the 1st half go our way in the 2nd.

11/16/2018 - 9:12pm I didn't notice it since the…

I didn't notice it since the examples (from the author's viewpoint) were not that good.

11/13/2018 - 9:00pm Blackwell has no case and is…

Blackwell has no case and is an idiot.

He’s suing MSU because he did NOT cooperate in the schools investigation into sexual assault. That’s his arguement. Forget the immorality of it all, he’s an enployee of a University and is subject to mandatory reporting and not only did he not report the incidents, he didn’t even cooperate with investigators after the fact.

11/13/2018 - 11:38am LOL. Did you read the story …

LOL. Did you read the story (or just the headline)? He presents both viewpoints and says that the OSU players deny the allegation.

Also, Iowa State Recruiting Girl, so he didn’t pay for all of it.

11/11/2018 - 9:46am I agree with you, but…

I agree with you, but busting a RS just for handoffs and QB sneaks doesn’t make sense. Milton hasn’t even thrown a pass.

11/11/2018 - 8:16am Yeah, but MSU classes are…

Yeah, but MSU classes are difficult, so take more time.

11/10/2018 - 8:06pm The announcer said that…

The announcer said that normally Rutgers has 5-7 screens prepared for a game and this week they had 14.

11/09/2018 - 4:19pm Sorry sharkhumper. We all…

Sorry sharkhumper. We all owe a collective apology for that.

Michigan receivers look great and I'm not sure if it's McElwain or Roundtree or 1 more year in the system or a simplified system, but they look great and the praise goes to the Boss of the WRs!

Hopefully, he sticks around and doesn't jump at an OC/ HC job!
