They did the right thing and removed Shane Morris from the game for sustaining a leg injury (like three times!).

No mention of the apparent head trauma and his inability to stand clearly shown in video, nor whether he was evaluated for a concussion, much less if he passed or not, and then they put him back in!

Oh and I forgot that they didn't evaluate his leg when he initially sustained the injury.

Did anyone expect an honest and complete answer versus the short defensive blame deflecting bullshit we read here?

Yep this is Wall Street 101.  It is like Goldman Sachs saying "we did not lie, cheat, break rules, do anything wrong or admit to any wrongdoing but in return for no further investigation into this matter we are offering the SEC this $8M fine. "

The University is about the university first and foremost.  The rest is details.

This is a Mankind wide problem. Few people--government, business, or individual--accept responsibiltiy for what they do(unless it's a good deed). People equivocate, obfuscate, and otherwise attempt to mitigate or nullify their responsibiility when something goes wrong.

I see it every day when I am at work and in the news. Personal accountability is a rare trait among humans.

you have to read between the lines on these as they are probably written by a PR person, reviewed by a lawyer, and then cc'd to Hoke so he knows what's being released

Interesting that they don't mention anythin of the hit or evaluating him for a concussion. I imagine they don't want to address it publically for legal reasons or because they actually know they screwed up on this one

Guys I don't know what to think and what to say. It's starting to feel these 2 morons are intent on bringing down the program. I am so pissed off right now!

This is the complete opposite handling than what occurred a few years ago in the 67-65 Illinois game. RR needed to win that game. His career at michigan was on the line. And yet he pulled denard early for no reason that anyone (at least in the stands) could see. It later turned out that there was a possibility that denard had suffered a head injury ( he did not) and RR took him out when he needed him most and relied on his maligned back up. I really don't think this got the publicity it should have, especially when compared with Saturdays handling of Morris.

If Coach Rod pulled Denard, that's a great move. Hoke didn't pull Shane, that's a bad move. But we don't know who pulled Denard. It could have been Paul Schmidt, who didn't pull Shane. Guys, this letter is awful, and they should have just shut the fuck up and taken their lumps. But there is truth to the statement that the coach CANNOT overrule the trainer. This I know 100%. Its a half-ass cover up for sure, but that's the issue. Schmidt let him back in. And its shocking.

Its still on Hoke insofar as he didnt see it and je thought Shane was fit to go back in, for sure. But the policy is in place for exactly this reason: the idiot head coach wants to negligently put an injured player in the game the trainer is supposed to stop it!

"We practiced real hard at ass covering, really proud of that practice. But we just didn't execute and that's on us"

WAIT! It actually made sense that time!

All along Hoke's press conferences were practicing for sucking at press conferences about practice head trauma about sucking at practice!

Wait... I think I lost myself in that... Did anyone get that? No? Ok, I'm going back to drinking.

wow this is really bad, this isnt the michigan i loved. bo would had thrown hoke out of the school right after the game. this university really defining how low of a class institution they can be. this is the ultimate failure, they didnt even do concussion testing to make sure he didnt sustain concussion, what a failure by yhe medical staff.

I have never, never felt this level of rage about anything on the football field. Losing sucks, but I can handle it because it is a part of sports. But this, being sold that the Michgan way means something, integrity means something and then to have our athletic "leaders" act this way is simple infuriating.

I'm used to disappointment. I'm used to embarrassment. But utter disgust is a new one for me. This makes not even want to don a Michigan shirt. This is not the Michigan I support.

No, I think you have to assume that in the wake of the PSU scandal where administrators turned their heads, that the new President is going to look into this issue.  I would suggest he does not rely on the word of his subbordinates and gets a comprehensive report with as much feedback as possible from multiple parties.

Ignoring this would unnecessarily damage his credibility at an early stage as the University President.  Bold, swift action on his part is needed to protect his reputation as well.

It's bigger than towing the company line and covering your ass. This is one of those times. Never would think a prestigious institution as Michigan would keep committing epic failures one after the other. Credibility is being completely shot to hell.

If you are trying to stave off any future potential litigation this is exactly the boiler player, lawyer speak stuff you'd release.

I have no idea if Morris was or was not concussed.  But if I was Shane's parents I'd be livid after seeing what happened Saturday.

BlueinLansing

than shocking.  Has not one person in Michigan's phony PR department been shown a clip of Morris getting hit in the chin.  Are they really this stupid to believe that they can just gloss this over and refer only to his leg injury?

I am at a loss

They're circling the wagons and will defiantely avoid firing either Brandon or Hoke. Never thought I'd say it but would love to see an empty student section at PSU game. The only thing they understand is $$$ so if people don't show up for a game maybe they'll get the message.

That said, don't expect any firing at all this season. Makes me wanna quit watching football this season, and it's not even October yet.
