It was really weird cause (I think it was) Khaleke Hudson was the first guy they encountered and they just unlinked arms and walked by him no issue.
The whole thing was just really odd.
edit: this is the walk before last years Notre Dame game. No helmets.

That is not what Oklahoma State was trying to do.
They took the snap with 4 seconds left and ran the 4 seconds off the clock to end the game. They didn't care about the run-off cause they didn't needed.
Also with a deadball foul you don't get the run-off.
All Oklahoma State was trying to do was get the last 4 seconds off the clock.

I'm curious as to where you draw the line?
Football/hockey? Boxing? Pro-wrestling? Amateur wrestling? Martial arts tournaments?

For Wisconsin they didn't watch the game so they don't know how lop-sided it was.
They look back at the score and see a TD loss on the road early in the season.
Had we hit the field goals to make it 23-7 like it should have been we would be getting the benefit of the doubt.

|11/06/2016 - 10:24am||Who were the other former||
Who were the other former players?
Its surprising to me that they wouldn't just to college as well. Most (all?) colleges have some major rival (granted not like UM-OSU) that you think they would instantly jump to ahead of any pro rivalry.
A pro rivalry falls short to me because there isn't that sense of forever with a pro team. CWood is forever a Wolverine but is he forever a Raider and a Packer, and a Raider again? And lots of guys move around a lot more than that.
|11/01/2016 - 11:38am||If you look at the teams||
If you look at the teams they've beaten right now I agree that they are close.
The issue UM is going to have to fight is at the end of the season people are gonna remember where those teams were when the games were played.
Bama has 5 wins over top 20 teams (when the games were played). That will be bandied about by people making the pro-Bama (or just pro-SEC arguement). They also have 2 more left on the schedule (LSU this week and Auburn). So if they win out it will be at least 6.
Michigan has 1 against Wisconsin.
Now as the season unfolded maybe PSU and Colorado turned out to be solid teams and Tenn Ole Miss and Ark aren't that great but then you'll just get the "SEC BEATS EACH OTHER UP! THEY ARE ALL SO GOOD!" argument.
Basically the SEC bias is a strong machine to beat.

They were down 7 before the point after try.
There are 3 possible outcomes.
1) Kick the PAT and are down 6.
2) Fail to get points (missed kick or failed 2 point try) and are down 7.
3) 2 point try is returned and they are down 9.
If they were to somehow get another TD they would the PAT as an untimed down. Making it a 6 point gave gives you the best (albeit still extremely small) chance to win.

The general public doesn't have a real strong grasp of how the caps work and each teams relative situation.
Because of that they don't really get that for phoenix $7.5M pretend money on the cap means nothing and $1.1M real money out of their pockets means a lot.
Best way to explain is to point out phoenix's point of view.
Get: 16th pick and cash
Give: 20th pick 54th pick
If your like me you'll be explaining this trade a lot over the next week or two.

Care to share the stats you are referencing for your arguement? Didn't think so.
Care to address the other parts of my posts which ask how Toronto is going to go from one of the worst teams in the league to at least average in most major categories? Didn't think so.
I also appreciate the tap dance from "Andersen is a significant upgrade" to "Andersen is average but Reimer was injury prone".
If you want to have a hockey debate/discussion I'm all for it. If you just want to try to get in a jab (I must be salty because the leafs have had so much more success than the wings in the last 25 years) and provide no actual back-up to your claims then we can just end the conversation here. No need to reply.
|06/25/2016 - 1:46pm||Are you arguing that Reimer||
Are you arguing that Reimer wasn't your best goalie when you traded him?
What is your logic that Anderson is an upgrade? I present equivilent rate statistics despite Andersson playing and a significantly stronger team.
Anderson might be a solid NHL goalie but you will be paying him one of the top contracts in the league. But let's face the facts here this is a goalie who has 1 NHL season as a clear cut starter. And that was statistically his worst season.
I'm not saying Reimer is an elite goaltender but He has played his career for one of the worst performing teams in the league and is stopping the same % of pucks (which is what matters) as Anderson playing on one of the better teams in the league.
Bernier is a perfect example of this. LA has been a very good defensive team when Bernier was there and he put up good numbers (specifically 2010-2013 - 5th, 2nd, 8th). Bernier moves to Toranto who has been bad defensively (26th, 27th, 27th) and Bernier's numbers drop. Why wouldn't you expect the same thing to happen with Anderson?
"You speak of the Leafs evidently Vezina quality netminders of last year...(throws up hands)"
No I speak of Reimer and Bernier. If you don't have any arguement other than "do U even watch hockeyz lol!" and other hyperbole then why are you even on here talking about hockey?

|06/25/2016 - 11:46am||How many "potential||
How many "potential generational players" have the Oilers drafted in the last 7 or 8 years?
The Leafs may (finally) be back to rebuilding the team with good ownership/management/coaching but if you think it is going to turn around overnight (or in one offseason) you aren't giving enough credit to talent on the ice.
Last season the leafs were/had
28th in goals per game
24th in goals against per game
29th on the PP
13th while shorthanded (which is not bad, I'll give you that one)
1 player break 20 goals (Parentaeu - 20)
2 players break 40 points (Kadri - 45, Parentaeu - 41)
And you traded your best goalie in the middle of the season. You also overpaid a goalie that put up the same rate stats as the goalie you traded last year who was in a platoon situation on the best defensive/PK team in the league.

|06/25/2016 - 11:28am||Understanding zona's||
Understanding zona's situation this is a good trade for both.
The wings pick up a $1.1M contract in actual money. Won't hit against the cap cause he will likely be in the minors all season but it still has to be paid.
Zona won't be anywhere near the cap at any point this season so the dats contract is free to them.
To zona this deal looks like
$1.1M in free money
That's not bad for them.
|06/25/2016 - 11:25am||smaller market teams||
smaller market teams sometimes have a problem making a profit even at the cap floor.
if they feel they can field (ice?) a competitive team at $7.5M under the floor (due to having a lot of young players on entry level contracts for example) they will absorb a "free" cap hit in exchange for picks or giving away actual money they have to pay.
getting a big free agent is money they have to spend in the future. spending that money could bankrupt the team.
|06/18/2016 - 7:15pm||Sorry, they are only on the||
Sorry, they are only on the hook against the cap. They don't have to pay Dats the money but they are effectively down $7.5M against the cap. This is because the contract was signed after Dats turned 35.
|06/18/2016 - 5:12pm||I'm real hesitant with picks||
I'm real hesitant with picks but at some point you have evaluate the lower half of your existing roster and ask if those guys have a chance to move up. If they don't you should consider moving them.
Jurco and Pulkkinen have been had chances to make the roster and haven't made it. Does that mean they will never be strong NHLers? No of course not but eventually contracts are going to come up and a decision is going to have to be made one way or another.
With the Dats contract and no Dats we almost can't do anything in free agency. If we can give up those two guys and get rid of Dats and Howards contracts we're going to free up $12.5M in cap space. With that much money we should be a lead contender for any free agent out there.

So the move is to deal the contract and either Jurco/Pulkkinen to get him off the books. Try to unload Howard then go after Stamkos or Lucic (maybe Okposo?) and a defenseman?
The free agent defenseman crop is not great this year. Keith Yandle is the highest rated available from most outlets (didn't see the Rangers enough to know how good he was).
Maybe Calgary will trade Dougie Hamilton for Howard straight up? Plz?
