When is Warde going to make a decision on Juwan?
It's been two days since Warde said that a decision would be made soon. Every moment that Manuel waits is hurting Michigan Basketball. Other schools have started their coaching searches and we will be left with the scraps. If Juwan isn't fired today, then what are we even doing here as Brian Cook would say.
His mind was made up 6 months ago. He's coming back.
I mean 6 months ago Michigan had lost 0 basketball games. If Warde isn't adapting to changing data, then -- what are we doing here?
Nailed it
This comment aged like milk in the sun.
HAHAHAHA You are so wrong!!!!!
So are all the people who pre-emptively hated on Warde going to admit they’re wrong or just move on to the next imagined complaint?
We all know the answer to this...the goal post is on wheels.
Yeah, that's a big negatory. They will all pivot to the next thing to screech about.
They will move on to the next imagined complaint. I imagine it will be that we have not announced a new head coach within the first 24 hours of the search.
Nice to know Warde is capable of making this monumental decision. I'm sure this was a tough one. Let's celebrate the fact that our AD was able to fire a coach with the worst season in program history. Bravo!
Now, where should I send flowers? Same address as Warde?
I'm here for the Friday Pos-Bang!
I would like Santa to make a decision before Warde gets to make another one.
✅Naughty or ✅Nice?
I think he is looking for an action plan so he has reason to let him keep Juwan for another year.
You think Sherrone Moore could fix the basketball culture as well? I bet he knows a few thinks about the hardwood court.
Jokes aside, I would assume many of the athletes between football and basketball talk to each other and are probably good friends. Do you think the differences in their respective teams comes up much? This sounds like a better discussion than speculation about the AD's decision timeline.
MBB is a dog's breakfast.
We all know, we were just told not to tell you.
Serious answer 1: Warde has demonstrated that he will make decisions when he has no other option left, when the situation cannot be dragged out any further.
Serious answer 2: Firing someone takes more than 48 hours. And it takes even longer if you’re trying to negotiate a face-saving “please resign” deal. There’s buyouts. Mediation. Calling in favors. Legal reviews. PR. And the all-important aspect of “who’s on our short list for replacement, and how do we keep our players here while we lock someone down?”
Ok. They should have done all of that stuff before the end of the season. OSU fired their coach a month ago. If we are just now creating a short list of candidates, we are doomed.

Warde gonna Warde.
I'm hoping for a Friday afternoon news dump but at this point who would be surprised if he gets let go in April while they "review the investigation" that The Athletic published about today.
Calm down. I am all for an early decision, but any coach we would want to hire still will be gainfully employed thru at least Thursday next week if not for up to two or three weeks beyond. This is not college football. Sky is not falling on the coaching search… yet. Stop with the hysterics.
Came here to say exactly this. Unless they're eyeing some very coveted assistant or an NBA person (unlikely on both fronts), no one is going anywhere for at least a couple of weeks.
It's reasonable to be worried given Warde's long history of indecision. But yes, we are not *yet* in a bad place timing-wise. It's just tough to be optimistic. I hope I'm wrong and Warde breaks a tendency here.
As soon as he finishes his Uber Eats Old Country Buffet order.
I bet half the people who are screaming that Warde isn't firing Juwan fast enough were also the same ones saying Warde did a great job this year because he didn't fire Harbaugh in 2000.
It's clear Warde defaults to non-action, so stop holding your breathe that this will be any different.
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
Too busy getting all the Autobidz for Penn State and Oregon and too many SEC teams
Discovery of violent culture is giving Warde pause as Juwan may slap the shit out of him. Still weighing his options.
He's hiring another firm to weight his options for him.
Is there where the money for JJ's NIL package went?
It's pretty obvious that someone like Warde Manuel would never rise to the top in a private sector organization. He fundamentally lacks leadership and communication skills.
That's kind of the contradiction in college sports today, on the one hand these athletic departments are major commercial entities, on the other hand they're still structurally part of a massive, slothful bureaucracy. Time to wake up and smell the coffee or Michigan's 2024 national football championship will remain a generational exception.
SSDD (this thread, its author).
Well, unless Warde has a flux capacitor, the answer to the question of when Juwan will be fired is going to be "too late."
See the new Unverified Voracity. Warde has commissioned a “culture” investigation to ensure that his ass is 100% covered before making the decision everyone else already knows has to be inevitable. The report will be as bad as everyone expects, but Warde will inexplicably sit on the results for a few months until some frustrated staffer leaks it.
And then Warde will finally pull the trigger, too late to have a serious candidate list longer than one or two names, so he doesn’t have to risk getting second guessed on that choice either.
A decision will be made next year after a 5-27 season. Whether it’s made by Warde or someone else is another matter entirely.
Well, that one didn’t age well at all.
No one here has any idea. Just like we haven't had any idea the last 50 times a similar thread to this has been posted.
Even more amazing, 49 out of those 50 threads were posted by...yep, you guessed it.
Now the only remaining question is, what will our beloved OP incessantly bitch about next?
He's made the decision, he's just waiting to announce the decision until the best possible time. That time is when Ann Arbor Torch & Pitchfork is out of stock on most flammables.
If history is an indicator, July-ish.
I just want to record my admiration for the post calling Brian's "what are we even doing here" five minutes before Brian posted a "what are we even doing here?"
Officially announced he's gone. I know we all hate on Warde, but credit where credit's due for making this decision quickly.
This was, relatively speaking, a lay-up but to Warde Manuel's credit he made it.
Seriously though. I would like a different athletic director as well, but can we cool it with the hyperbole especially now that Warde did the right thing this time? There are plenty of valid things you can and should criticize him for (which - yes - does include his pattern of reactivity) so it just looks like teeth-gnashing rabble when you have to make up reasons to be mad.
I take it all back. Hopefully we find a great ne coach and rise again.
Or not.
Maybe they do what most programs do and started putting out feelers through back channels. Maybe the consensus from those coaches were that our NIL and admissions situations are not ideal.
I can’t think of too many coaches that would want to take over this roster without the luxury of even being able to bring their players with them.
It seems like Warde has taken steps to address the NIL. He made hires and signed the partnerships last month that opened things up and ended the Champions Circle monopoly. I posted a comment before showing that cc just wasn’t at the level of competing collectives. They’ve neglected basketball and I think Warde opening it up and getting actual experts involved with make a big difference.
Admissions is another beast, but I think now Warde can show potential candidates that he will arm them to put together a competitive roster.
