Agreed. I wouldn't mind if they just stopped counting the bowl game towards the overall record.

If it's two teams playing without several of their NFL bound players, then it's not indicative of how a meaningful game would have turned out.

Simple as that.

12/18/2018 - 1:39pm Exactly. People complaining…

Exactly. People complaining about players sitting out the bowl are trying to treat the symptom, not the cause.

Bowl games outside of MNC/BCS/Playoff bowls have always been exhibitions. It's true, gramps. All those Rose Bowls, wonderful, amazing memories. But ultimately, exhibitions.

This trend is going to continue, more players will sit out, and bowls will ultimately because ultra-early pre-season games where you can give freshman and redshirts some snaps.

Also, you can love your university and teammates and sit out the bowl. Remember, the reason we all went to college was to build a foundation for our future careers.

I love Ann Arbor, but as soon as I got my degree, I left because I had a job to start and extreme bills to pay. If you would have said to me, stay another semester since you love the university, but you may risk that job offer than you spent the last four years working for, I would have told you to shove it.

I previously drew comparisons between him and Urban.

When you hire either of these guys, you're selling your soul to hire a scumbag no one can stand in exchange for guaranteed championships.

Except, this time, Mourinho couldn't actually win. Once you stop winning, the "special one" schtick doesn't last long.

I assume it has to do with the Board now being buried at the bottom of the mobile version and the fact that you can't scroll to the next page of articles within the right rail, like you could on the old one.

I hate to keep being a jerk about it, but I just hate the cavalier mentality of "I found a link, everyone pay attention to me!" that seems to permeate the habitual duplicators.

I'd be nervous relying on USPS this time of year.

The end is coming. Even before the injuries and concerns in the last few years, I remember the kick off being the most unexplainable parts of any game.

It's just such a random outlier and is so different from the rest of the sport

They sold their souls in Columbus when they decided not to fire him. At this point, everything else is just background noise.

Seriously.

I remember early in the season, people said we would never survive this three game stretch. Now they're already buying hotels for the national championship game.

I'm as excited about this team's progress as anyone, but let's get past PSU and OSU before we even start entertaining dreams of beating Bama.

Agreed, I think attributing it to one loss is overreacting.

It seems more to be from the rumors early in the season that he feels that OSU betrayed him by making take the tiniest bit of responsibility for the Zac Smith fallout, and that he's essentially been burning every bridge since then.

I think he still keeps his job, even if he loses to us, and in a bowl game. I think OSU has made him bigger than the program by not firing him this off-season, so they can grumble all they want, but they would never actually pull the trigger.

10/23/2018 - 10:10am I think the comparison wasn…

I think the comparison is deserved just yet, since all of Urban's abrupt departures have been building up to the OSU job.

But if he bolts (or gets fired) from his dream job, then I think this is what he becomes.

10/23/2018 - 9:51am Wondering if Urban is going…

Wondering if Urban is going to end up being college football's version of Jose Mourinho.

For the non-soccer fans, Mourinho is an ornery coach who basically comes into a team, near-immediately wins a championship, and then within 4 years, bolts because he begins losing, or the players stage a mutiny, or both.

I wonder if Urban is going to become a HC mercenary.

I think they brought Milton as an unknown entity more than as a legitimate progression down the depth chart.

I wouldn't look at his inclusion as a true indicator that Peters is no being considered, or is hurt.

10/10/2018 - 9:46am As has been mentioned on…

As has been mentioned on this site before, the advertising on this site (or nearly any other site) is not controlled by the site itself, but instead, by a large network for of advertising partners that auction off the ad slot to the highest bidder in an autonomous system that takes into account things like your browsing history, keywords, locations, previous ad clicks, etc.

So if you're seeing an ad, there's probably a reason you were targeted for it.

That said, this website does have some control over the ad content, primarily a keyword block where they can put in a list of offensive words they do not want to appear in ads, like "Ohio", or various other four letter words.

10/08/2018 - 2:54pm Agreed.

With the current…

Agreed.

With the current rule, any time you hit a QB and are not moving your head away and to the side, you're leaving your fate up to the refs, for better or (usually) worse.

10/06/2018 - 6:25pm I would look at the survey…

I would look at the survey results if I were you.

10/06/2018 - 5:08pm I agree.  A couple people…

I agree.  A couple people have posted similar suggestions.

I wouldn't mind it if next season they said that if your ticket wasn't scanned for 4+ games, you're not getting tix again.

It would at least force people who don't want to go to a game to re-sell them to someone who will actually go.

10/06/2018 - 4:51pm Not saying it was completely…

Not saying it was completely full. But WAAAY more full than the student section at the end of the 1st quarter:

10/06/2018 - 4:21pm You just confirmed my point…

You just confirmed my point.

If we only expect to get students to the stadium for ND/MSU/OSU, then we probably have too many student seats.

10/06/2018 - 3:54pm I agree, that would suck to…

I agree, that would suck to have to sit outside the student section if you're paying tuition. I would have been angry if that happened to me.

That being said, 2007 is a far way from 2018. People clearly prefer staying at home (or in the dorm or frat) to going to the game. in 2003, when I was in school, missing the game was the worst thing in the world. Now it seems like it's actually preferable for a certain % of the students.

Attendance and viewing habits have changed over the last decade, so I think ticketing policies should adapt as well.

10/06/2018 - 3:23pm Went to Western game, and it…

Went to Western game, and it was a half filled section. SMU looked the same on TV, and Nebraska didn't look very full either.

10/04/2018 - 12:21pm Me: Saban is being a whiny…

Me: Saban is being a whiny asshole.

Also Me (during our games): What the hell is wrong with the students? Why can't they just show up? This looks terrible on TV.

I could never imagine sending your child to college and having this happen.

Condolences to his family

10/03/2018 - 10:51am The ticket game is rigged.

The ticket game is rigged.

Just to give you an idea, I have a Yankees partial season plan, so I got access to buy playoff tix about a month ago, as part of the pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-sale group.

The pre-sales go, in order:  full season ticketholders, then partial season, then promotional plan, then corporate sponsors, then partner credit card holders, then fanclub, then general public.

Quite literally by the time I get access to buy my tickets at face, 90% of the tickets are already gone, and usually 100% gone by the time the next pre-sale starts. The vast majority of these tickets go right into the secondary market at quite the markup.

Sorry, didn't mean to rant.  Hope you are able to get cheap tix, but the system is stacked against actual fans getting decently priced tix, by design.

10/02/2018 - 9:56am This sheds a lot of light on…

This sheds a lot of light on the topic. I didn't definitively say it works better against us. I was echoing what a lot of people on the board were complaining about after ND/NW.

So it seems like the first couple drives of most football games is throwing the kitchen sink at the opponent, and seeing how they respond.

09/21/2018 - 4:07pm I just realized I made that…

I just realized I made that mistake because I graduated in 2004, but my final football season was 2003.

09/17/2018 - 11:12am This is my new frontrunner…

This is my new frontrunner for worst fan comment of the year.

Last year was a complete tire fire at QB where they couldn't even hit wide open players. Now this dude is complaining that throws should be a couple inches higher.

09/13/2018 - 7:14pm Walked into a dinner spot…

Walked into a dinner spot and saw the game in the 3rd quarter and figured it had to be a replay.

Then thought, hmm, maybe there ARE some games that will be live tonight, so I checked the schedule and saw that BC was marked as live.

Weird timing indeed.

09/02/2018 - 2:31am Unfortunately as under…

Unfortunately as under appreciated as he was while he coached, he is as much to blame for the last decade of mediocrity as hoke, Brandon, or Rodriguez.

Was he replaced prematurely? Probably.

Did he turn his back on the program when it needed him most? Definitely

08/31/2018 - 5:45pm General rule of thumb is…

General rule of thumb is that you should renegotiate all your bills every 6-12 months. Especially cable and internet that offer these insane introductory rates.

Call up, say you're canceling, wait til you're connected to a customer retention specialist, and their only success metric is how many people they keep from canceling. They are the ones who can extend your current introductory rate for another contact length.
