Alabama's recruiting won't change, because Alabama's recruiting infrastructure pays the players, not Tosh.

Best of luck to him, but he will probably fail in a scene steeped in parity.

I don't have the time or inclination to Fisk this letter, but it is one of the more fiskable documents I've seen, and I've seen a loooooot of documents.

Michigan AD: A-

This coaches are essentially great, only thing left is for the old ball team to crest the mountain.

Ohio State AD: B-

Replaced Urban Meyer with anyone else, then pinned D hopes on a washed up coordinator.  Still perceived as the cream of the big ten.

Michigan State AD: D

Teams are technically sound and yet still built on a foundation of evil.

It's not as easy to tank in the NFL as it is is basketball.  Lions might have accidentally only reached 5-11 and got the 6th pick.

The important tidbit to take from this is that Pep is staying at Michigan, and we should all be pised.

I hope one day that conflict gets resolved so you can listen to Zeppelin again, you poor bastard.

01/12/2019 - 4:36pm A glorious day indeed. …

A glorious day indeed.  Zeppelin were like a fast and agile freight train.  Essentially perfect in many ways and clearly inimitable.

01/12/2019 - 11:35am Here's the relevant part if…

Here's the relevant part if the article, since I'm sure very few of us are familiar with this particular individual:

Faehn was not specifically named in the lawsuits (by gymnasts against USA Gymnastics), but faced criticism from numerous Nassar survivors who called for her removal.  This included U.S. Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, who told the Indianapolis Star that she had reported Nassar's abuse to Faehn "in graphic detail," but Faehn and other officials waited a week before going to the FBI.  A week after that interview, USA Gymnastics decided to part with Faehn.

Based on this, I would rather UM hire someone else, and I agree that doing this hire essentially in secret is a very bad look for UM.  I hope they backtrack quickly.

01/09/2019 - 7:05pm Clemson's quick release…

Clemson's quick release passing game was a thing of beauty.  They had the ball out at exactly three seconds consistently.  Lawrence also stood in there, because the rush was coming, but not in less than three seconds.  It was clear their whole throw game was built around this concept.

Pretty alarming that the Zach Harrison recruitment went down the way it did and now this.  This all feels like one drawn out movement.

01/07/2019 - 2:54pm This petty nonsense will…

This petty nonsense will eventually come back to bite Ohio State.  I love Mattison, but he is not the right guy for the job there.  This is either a panic move by OSU or done purely out of spite.

Still wish him the best except when they play M.

01/07/2019 - 12:30pm Since Harbaugh's been here,…

Since Harbaugh's been here, we've seen two distinct "Harbaugh" offenses.  The Jedd version is significantly different than the Pep version.  So, even though you're probably technically correct, Harbaugh can be, and has been, different.  Thus, the Pep complaints are valid, because the passing game is clearly mismanaged right now.

01/06/2019 - 1:29pm Michigan unleashed it's WR's…

Michigan unleashed it's WR's in very short spurts in both of the last two games.  It was very effective when Shea got a throw out.  The several big problems with Michigan's passing game have nothing to do with WR's not reaching their potential.  They've reached their potential, we just have to cut the passing game loose to actually observe it.

01/06/2019 - 1:20pm I may not be a coach, but I…

I may not be a coach, but I do have eyes and a rational mind.  What we see in-game is lizard brain stuff that is not appropriately managed by the offensive staff as a whole.

01/06/2019 - 1:14pm I hope this is true, but…

I hope this is true, but this type of off-season talk happens annually and has usually been BS.

Throw for 300+ yards because you can do that too, and try to win a shootout.

01/05/2019 - 10:44pm Woodson, no doubt. …

Woodson, no doubt.  Otherworldly player and his time at UM coincided with mine.

My favorite player on the current team is DPJ

01/02/2019 - 6:33pm Considering where things…

Considering where things stand now, and the money flowing from the TV deals, you're right it will probably get worse before some sweeping event forces a fundamental change in the administration of college football.

I do tend to think the bowl structure is unstable and a quarter or so of the bowls will find themselves taking a loss and be cancelled in the near future.  The corporate sponsorship gets more absurd and bizarre by the year, which to me is a sign that the already menial interest in watching two bad teams play on a weeknight in an empty arena is dropping.  When it drops past a financial topping point, bowls will finally start to be cancelled instead of added.

On the other hand, a bunch of bowls could band together and try to create something like a post-season football version of the Big Ten - ACC challenge.  That would make a bad matchup interesting and would maybe allow a failing bowl to perpetuate itself .

I hope Long has a great NFL career, best wishes to him

12/31/2018 - 12:42pm This makes perfect sense…

This makes perfect sense based on what we're seeing, and it is the single reason Harbaugh needs to replace Pep.  He desperately needs someone in-game that can balance his lizard brain.  Pep is decidedly not that person.  Jedd, just as an example, was.

12/31/2018 - 12:04pm Even with some hiccups in…

Even with some hiccups in the throw game, it still was the right choice against UF, as it was against OSU.  The run game was being overplayed by both, and Michigan chose to keep delivering body blows anyway.

If M went full USC 2006 Rose Bowl and just abandoned the run completely, I believe they could have won either game.  On the other hand, playing offense the way they did ruled out any hope of quick scoring, and thus ensured a loss once they were down double digits.

12/29/2018 - 3:41pm Keep: Harbaugh, Warinner,…

Keep: Harbaugh, Warinner, Brown, Mattison.

Fire the rest, especially Pep.  Please end this moronic affair with Harbaugh slurping up Pep's nonsense and get an offensive staff that knows how to deploy our copious weapons.

12/29/2018 - 3:38pm For the love of God, please…

For the love of God, please get rid of Pep Hamilton.  This offense has gone from just inventive enough to work in Harbaugh's style to completely unwatchable in two years.  Fire him pleeeeease!

Escape room with my wife and two others.  It'll be the perfect palate cleanse after this nasty snack.

12/29/2018 - 3:23pm There are dozens of options…

There are dozens of options that would work just fine.  Anybody that can balance Harbaugh's lizard brain, like Jedd did, would work.

12/29/2018 - 3:20pm This coaching staff gives…

This coaching staff gives the feeling that is wants to be put out of it's misery.  What happened to Michigan and Harbaugh?

12/29/2018 - 2:49pm It's stupefying that this…

It's stupefying that this team literally has no ability to play with any pace.  They just burn clock and burn clock as if there's no other option.

Cut the throw game loose, Michigan!  Our WR's can't be stopped.  Go blue

12/29/2018 - 9:30am In case you don't have one…

In case you don't have one yet, try a throw up bowl.  Teaching our kid how to use her own throw up bowl at a young age saved a lot of clothes and furniture later.

Now let's win this weird bowl game, go blue!

12/29/2018 - 1:39am I'm no fan of Pep, but of…

I'm no fan of Pep, but of course I want the offense to thwack it's junk on UF's forehead.

If he stays, it'll be purely because Harbaugh wants him around.  I think Pep's bad for the team, but wth do I know?

12/28/2018 - 2:01pm An eight team national…

An eight team national championship playoff and a 16 to 32 team NIT-style also-ran tournament would be awesome.  Build it around the bowls if necessary, but it would be way better than the last 10 days of pure trash.

12/28/2018 - 1:31pm This would be awful. …

This would be awful.  However, intersquad scrimmages in August would be cool as a side show.

The problem with bowls is just that there are waaaay too many of them.  Nothing related to the playoff or even the concept of corporate sponsorship has ruined the bowls.  They diluted themselves by lining up pointless matchups between bad teams.  So, now the whole of "bowls" includes so much garbage that the legitimately good matchups like UW-OSU and UF-UM are overwhelmed until they actually occur.

To sum up,save the bowls by eliminating more than half of them.  Or better yet, redevelop the post-season altogether into a college basketball approach with multiple tournaments seeded in a hierarchy.

I would have a fundamental problem with being a sports fan if I could somehow not care about the outcome of my favorite team's game.

12/23/2018 - 12:39am Here's something discernable…

Here's something discernable, although possibly not specifically seen in stats.  When Jedd was here, Michigan ran a lot of pass plays in which the primary read caught a short pass while running into open space.  It was often, and it was clearly planned.

Since Pep's been here, many many pass plays consist of the QB staring at the coverage for 4-5 seconds and then getting sacked or scrambling for a throwaway.

So, a casual observer gets the impression that in Pep's coaching, the QB has to know everything about everything to make the right choice on any given play, and our QB's have just never reached that zenith of understanding.  Jedd's coaching didn't seem to rely on that as much, and this is the reason the actual throw game (not the stats, but the visible reality) looked so much different.  And this is the reason I prefer Jedd and would like him to come back now that there is a legit O line and quality talent across the entire offense.

The whole sec should just be carved out of college football, or we should agree on a level to compensate the athletes in the same way.  The extension of the saban tree is becoming absurd.

This on a day that is going to result in the first batch of first place votes for M in the AP poll and a solid spot on the 1-line for the foreseeable future.

Undefeated with dominant wins over all the good teams they faced is literally as good as it gets.  Your fandom will never, ever, be more lovingly carressed than it is right now.  So enjoy it granddaddy!

12/13/2018 - 10:19pm These programs are looking…

These programs are looking for nothing more than a discount.  Alabama and OSU find a morally bankrupt human, they see an elite technician and hire him.  They could not care less what may result; it's for their handlers to deal with.  The truth that saban and Meyer work under ends at " good technician or good tactician"

12/13/2018 - 12:01pm Until Michigan starts…

Until Michigan starts winning against OSU, and really knows how to beat them, I think it makes sense to spend a little time on them every single day.  It's that important to the success of the team.  Beating Rutgers by 30 instead 50 is irrelevant.

12/10/2018 - 12:32am I expect our QB to stand in…

I expect our QB to stand in the pocket staring down field trying to figure out what hes looking at, until hes sacked a few times.  Other than that, the team will play really hard and keep banging on that wall.
