OT: Multiple Choice Poll: Your Hopes For The 2024 Chargers.

Submitted by KansasBlue on February 13th, 2024 at 12:08 PM

What kind of season are you hoping for when it comes to the 2024 Chargers and why?  Do you even care at all?  Just curious how others in this community feel about this....I'm not sure where I am yet and may not know until the season actually starts.  Yes, Harbaugh will ultimately be judged on the totality of his time coaching the team, but for this specific post I'm only focused on what you want to happen this next season.

1. The team actually gets worse.

2. Same underachieving group, same results.

3. Marked improvement, make the playoffs.

4.  Unbelievable turnaround, deep playoff run.

5.  Miracle season, Super Bowl champs.

6. Don't care.  Yes, I actually mean I will not follow how the Chargers perform and even if someone told me it wouldn't matter to me.

Chargers left my city so fuck them forever and ever.  Harbs changes that feeling not one bit.

The only thing that would change it is if they picked Blake or JJ or Zak or Trevor or Mikey or name your champ.

Somewhere between 5 and 6, so 5.5.

I'm actively rooting for LAC, but don't really care. And I wouldn't root for LAC at the expense of Detroit, so I'm not really hoping for a SB win because that hope is reserved for Detroit.

This is exactly the type of fandom I had with Brady in the NFL, although I cared more about Brady in the NFL than I will care about Harbaugh coaching. I think.

My hope? Do not care.

My expectation? Probably #3. They have a divisional problem. I think Denver and Vegas are improving (I'm a broncos fan), and KC is going to be just as good, if not better.

I was going to ask that we try to get more Michigan content, but then realized it would likely center around basketball and... well.. yikes.

Somewhere in between 2-3 for a honest prediction of how I think the Chargers season will actually go, but really for me it is really 6 as far as my care level. Nothing personal against Jim but I just don't care about the NFL and by extension once a player or coach leaves UM don't have much rooting interest. I mean if I based caring about the NFL teams on former UM players or coaches I would have to be a fan of almost every team, lol.

6. I root for all alumni to do well in the pros, including the coaches. But honestly, when it comes to the pros, my focus is primarily on the Lions, and only when they're good. I can't sit and watch NFL football unless I have money on the game.

6.

No offense to Harbaugh, but I just can't care about a team with whom I have zero prior affinity whatsoever. Add in the fact that they aren't even in my team's conference and I simply can't bring myself to care further than occasionally looking at them in the standings.

Will I root for his success? Sure, I guess. Thank you Jim for bringing us a 'Ship, talk us up in the NFL and draft plenty of Wolverines.

I feel childish for feeling like this.  But its exactly how i feel, and i cannot rationally change my mind.

If Harbaugh would have left and took maybe 1, at most 2 coaches with him, i would have rooted for him hard.

But i Love the Michigan Wolverines football program.  Not Jim Harbaugh or the San Diego Chargers.  He has taken basically every coach and set Moore up to fail by taking all the structure he had built.

6.  I'm a Steelers first Lions second fan.  I really do not care about the Chargers.  JH doesn't change that.  I didn't care how he was with the 49ers.  I cared about his team when he was coaching UM.

The only other teams that I really care about how they perform is me hoping that every team from the state of Ohio and the city of Chicago have crappy teams in every sport at every level.

6 because Lions. I wouldn't mind if they got better, because I'd be very surprised if they don't draft a UM player at some point in the draft. Could also depend on who is on my Fantasy team next season.

It's changed for me thanks to Jordan Acker's post about Harbaugh. At first I was salty and hoped the Chargers would pee on an electric fence, now I wish him success. I also wish he comes back to Michigan as AD in 5 years. In times like these, college athletics need principled people like Harbaugh.

5.  For the past 25 or so years I've been mostly indifferent to the NFL and rarely watch, as all my passion goes to Michigan.  But now with Harbaugh and crew with the Chargers, and the fact that I live near LA, and the Chargers having cool colors and gear I'm now a Chargers fan.

4 or 5.. I have no problem rooting for Harbaugh. What he did here will always be fondly remembered by me. He took a program that was floundering, re-established it and then built upon that foundation and brought us the most magical season (and three year runs) I have ever witnessed as a Michigan fan.

I hope he gets his Super Bowl, hell I hope he gets more than John.

The default for the Chargers has been 6. They were never a team I rooted for or against before.

The better Michigan plays in 2024 under the new coaching staff, the better I hope the Chargers play. If we struggle, then I hope they do too.

Somewhere between 3-5

I don’t actually care about the results. I want to watch the PROCESS: are we going to see a dynamic team that isn’t afraid to innovate, open it up, and exploit other teams’ weaknesses…or are we going to see over-reliance on a running game, lots of field goals, try to win with defense?

It’s been 10 years since Harbaugh was in the pros. The game has changed. I need - for the sake of my sanity - to see an NFL Harbaughffense to compare to the Michigan Harbaughffense. The shine has worn off Harbaugh as a “QB guru”, but if you can’t get a good offense out of the Chargers’ roster, you probably can’t get a good offense at all.

I'm going to say 2.5-ish.

Not making the playoffs but marked improvement.  Maybe 8-8 +/-1, but I doubt that even 9-7 makes the playoffs in that division, or even a AFC wild card.

3, maybe 4. Harbaugh has a long record of turning things around and making an impact from the start. Looking forward to seeing what coach can do in the NFL. Hope he scratches that itch and comes back for good when he's ready.

Sort of a mix between 1 and 6. I hope they lose every game but if they turn out to be good it doesn’t really bother me unless it’s at the expense of the Lions in the Super Bowl in which case it would bother me a lot.
