OSU backup QB Jack Miller has entered the portal

Hope he didn’t get another DUI on his trip to the portal
November 28th, 2021 at 7:02 PM ^
I feel like this topic as rivalry shit talk is one that should perhaps be avoided by our fan base when our football and basketball coaches both have one. Or just in general, if I'm being honest.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:17 PM ^
Or you could be in the camp I’m in and universally condemn DUIs regardless of who has them. They’re unbelievably irresponsible and Harbaugh and Howard don’t get a free pass from me either
November 28th, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
I never said I don't? That's kind of my point. I think it's beyond rivalry internet pettiness. It's a massive societal issue that permeates our own program, so I'm not going to throw stones about it. Just my opinion.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:17 PM ^
I'm more interested in why any QB who has a name with an M in it, especially at the start of a name, when they X out those M's.
You know, because they're just fucking weird people.
Also, the thing with not wearing blue, I guess none of them have that thing called "blue jeans ".
November 28th, 2021 at 7:32 PM ^
They don’t. OSU fans only wear sweatpants.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:43 PM ^
Urban Xeyer says hi!
November 28th, 2021 at 6:21 PM ^
He was kind of their third or maybe fourth string QB, I guess? As much as I look forward to the day that OSU's QB group is so depleted that they have to go into the game with their version of John O'Korn, I don't think this is going to slow them down much.
November 28th, 2021 at 10:00 PM ^
One of the mountains of bullshit from the last 15 years was OSU's QB room finally looking like a crap hole and they get Fields and under sketchy circumstances.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:23 PM ^
Ya Miller is at least 3rd on the depth chart. Not really a big loss unless one of their other 5* qbs decide to leave.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:35 PM ^
*two of their other five star qbs
November 28th, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
Only hurts if Ewers bolts and Stroud gets hurt next season. Not a loss esp after the DUI he was probably given a couple options, one a tough way to go to stay after this season and the other you should probably transfer cause it will make life easier. Couple that with the QB room and that got a lot easier.
I’m with everyone else, I cant wait for the day that Nick Sheridan or Steve Bellisari is the starting QB talent there….
November 28th, 2021 at 6:29 PM ^
Should be interesting to see how OSU QB situation unfolds. If I'm not mistaken, Ewers leaving high school a year early to start at OSU during what would have been his high school senior season means he can leave for the NFL year after next. Would be an awesome turn of fate to see them lose a guy like that just as he's blowing up.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:32 PM ^
He would actually have to play before that was a legitimate option, I'm thinking. I would expect more movement from that room considering the starter is a redshirt freshman, and a Heisman candidate
November 28th, 2021 at 6:34 PM ^
Yeah Ewers is the big question mark. He doesn't seem like the type of kid who will want to ride the bench another full year.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:36 PM ^
Rico’s time is nowwwww!!
November 28th, 2021 at 6:39 PM ^
Rico’s gonna Rico…Rico Time is upon us!
November 28th, 2021 at 6:43 PM ^
He was never going to see the field there. Stroud is there for another year and is putting up video game numbers, and then Ewers is very clearly going to be the heir apparent.
November 28th, 2021 at 8:06 PM ^
So looking through the stats on ESPN, McCord had 38 passes, Miller had 14 and Ewers had none. If he really is the heir apparent, wouldn't Ewe have actually gotten an opportunity to throw a pass?
I'm a bit skeptical; as I recall, Ewers skipped his senior year in high school. I'm not 100% sure this was a good idea for a variety of reasons; it's certainly possible that another year starting in high school may have been more beneficial than sitting on the bench in Columbus, and I see any number of ways in which enrolling early could cause problems for him socially. Not every kid can handle early admission to college.
I have to admit I personally wouldn't be surprised to see Ewers finish his career elsewhere. We'll see, though.
On the other hand, Miller is in the portal and frankly neither he nor McCord seemed to have been all that impressive in the limited action they saw. Stroud threw 5 interceptions in 395 passes; McCord threw 2 in 38 (against Akron and Michigan State, no less).

He saw this video from THE GOAT and ran! (0:12 second mark)
November 28th, 2021 at 7:06 PM ^
Well yea, he's not wrong OSU QBs look good because
1. Superior WR/talent making them look good
2. Scheme - when you bubble pass enough and your receivers can house it , well then other team overplays that ans you can bomb them.
No. These OSU QBs will keep sucking.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:32 PM ^
Highest NFL career approximate values for OSU quarterbacks, all time, per pro football reference:
- Tom Matte
- Mike Tomczak
- Tom Tupa
- Kent Graham
- Terrelle Pryor
So that's a running back, an undrafted longtime journeyman who Harbaugh replaced, a punter, an 8th round pick who served eight years as a backup, and an unsuccessful wide receiver.
It's an impressive list.
November 28th, 2021 at 8:44 PM ^
45 quarterbacks from Ohio State have played in the NFL since it’s inception and have thrown a total of 264 touchdowns combined.
Tom Brady has thrown 610 by himself. All 40 Michigan QBs have thrown 1,170 in the NFL.
Matthew Stafford has thrown for more passing yards than all OSU quarterbacks combined.

Everybody murders
November 28th, 2021 at 6:50 PM ^
A sensible man.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:51 PM ^
I think McCord will transfer too. Why play another year behind Stroud and then maybe not even beat out Ewers. Lots of new coaches in places that will want instant talent.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:08 PM ^
I was looking at 247 and was wondering how OSU got two 5* QBs in the same class. Was that because Evers switched classes late or something?
November 28th, 2021 at 7:19 PM ^
Yes, Ewers skipped his senior year of high school, allegedly because he expected to make $1 million in c-bus. One more year of Stroud then this guy takes over. Still dream about a world where Fields stays at Ga and osu heads into season with Tate Martell
November 28th, 2021 at 7:00 PM ^
I picture the transfer portal exactly as it’s portrayed in that Dr. Pepper commercial. They nailed it.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:07 PM ^
My son recently entered the transfer portal -- he's a senior looking for a grad transfer in his sport because he lost a year to Covid -- and I got a big chuckle out of telling people he's "in the portal."
November 28th, 2021 at 7:05 PM ^
Bye Felicia
November 28th, 2021 at 7:08 PM ^
Tate Martell?
November 28th, 2021 at 7:11 PM ^
A 247 writer thinks maybe both 5 Star QBs are leaving too. I believe McCord will. But I think Ryan Day will do whatever he has to to keep Ewers. I would leave if I was Ewers though.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
He does not say both will transfer. He speculates on whether one will. There’s a big difference there.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:19 PM ^
He just doesn't want to lose to Michigan two years in a row.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:40 PM ^
Bet he winds up at USC
November 28th, 2021 at 7:44 PM ^
I am so happy with how we handled JJ this year. He made key plays in OSU game also. It will be interesting to see what happens next year.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:52 PM ^
Maybe he saw stroud and his weak flexing are likely to be around for another 3 years and said f it
November 28th, 2021 at 8:25 PM ^
Hope he doesn't end up at PSU or MSU (unless he sucks).
November 29th, 2021 at 12:29 AM ^
Day leaving, maybe OU or the NFL.
