I guess the question is…

I guess the question is whether one can be an ethical person if one has a history of unjustifiable actions carried out while emotionally compromised.  I suppose if he can admit after the fact that those actions were not okay then he can still be ethical?  Do we have any MGoPhilosophers on the board?

Sorry about your dad, hope…

Sorry about your dad, hope everything works out well.

With that said it was a poorly constructed title and post. It's weird that you're describing some challenging personal circumstances but then doubling down and and calling everybody crybabies.  How about trying to learn from it and doing better next time instead?

I am impressed that the…

I am impressed that the Buckeye "This rivalry is boring if we just win all the time" narrative survived getting hammered three years in a row, ruining their post-season 2 out of 3 times, shutting them out of the B1G championship three times.  Very resilient.

I 100% interpreted the…

I 100% interpreted the headline as someone coming to take shots at Moore's recruiting.

Current temp in Hell,…

Current temp in Hell, Michigan is 34 degrees, dropping to 32 degrees over the next couple of hours.  Just saying.

Can't come in today.  Yeah,…

Can't come in today.  Yeah, no, the roads are real bad, so I'm gonna get some work done from here.  I'll check in in 49 minutes or so, see how things are going on your end.

I don't know a ton about…

I don't know a ton about sports gambling.  Is this because a lot of emotional bettors are super excited about the Lions, or because a few big money analytical bettors think Detroit is better than the spread says they are?

This works out in our favor,…

This works out in our favor, we can beat all these guys again next year at once instead of taking a whole season to do it.

Interesting thing about "for…

Interesting thing about "for the win", whenever that occured: ESPN's win tracker gave us a 75% chance before kickoff, and we never went below that at any point in the game.  Did you feel like we had a 75% chance to win in the third quarter when we only managed a 12-yard field goal drive off of Will Johnson's interception and then punted 3 straight times?  I know I didn't.

We had a 89.5% chance to win the game at the start of the drive that would see us go up 27-13 and a 98.6% chance by the end of it.  That's when I started to relax... I figured by that point we needed about 6 really bad things to happen in a row to lose the game.  Penix hitting Odunze for 44 yards was 1 out of 6... they did not get another.

How many consecutive season…

How many consecutive season ending injuries would you endure before you said "you know, maybe this football thing isn't for me"?

So that's 2/5ths of Alabama…

So that's 2/5ths of Alabama's starting offensive line transferring now?  Do I have that right?

Apparently Saban was…

Apparently Saban was thinking "I'm going to retire before we need a 5th year out of this guy."

Buckeyes loved to blame CJ…

Buckeyes loved to blame CJ Stroud for the last two losses.  I don't know, I remember a series of insane throws and catches between Stroud and his future NFL receivers as they tried to keep up with our offense that was scoring touchdowns on nearly every drive.  And then Stroud goes to the NFL and puts up Rookie of the Year numbers.  Hmm... maybe the problem wasn't him.

Getting Edwards back is a…

Getting Edwards back is a MUST.

Not sure I'd agree with that.  Having Edwards back would be fantastic, especially if they could spend the offseason figuring out how to make his 2024 season look more like '22 than '23.  However, I'd be excited to see what Mullings looks like getting a feature back's worth of carries - he's looked dangerous in limited opportunities - and the other guys look capable of spelling the feature back as well.

Harbaugh to be suspended…

Harbaugh to be suspended first 3 games in 2024 for violation of open container laws

Wonder what that interview…

Wonder what that interview was like.

"So... how did it feel to lose to Michigan?"

"It sucked."

"Yeah it did.  Anyhow, you're hired!"

I thought maybe he meant…

I thought maybe he meant mistake #1 was choosing to field the punt given where it was coming down and mistake #2 was failing to catch it cleanly once he decided to.

Overall our punt coverages haven't been necessarily great this year but come on guys... you're the National Champions.  Everything you did was enough, we could not have asked for a single bit more.

From what he's posted on…

From what he's posted on twitter when he announced his transfer, Jake Thaw seems extremely down about the whole play.  I've seen nothing but praise from fans, teammates, former players, etc telling him that even if he made a mistake, it's the fact that he instantly did what he needed to do to recover that's important... but as far has his own self-evaluation, he seems like he's hurting.

We need some kind of…

We need some kind of continuously updating chart on the front page.  Who's staying, who's going, and of the people going, how unexpected was their departure?

Henderson played 4 years at Arizona State and 1 for us, so unless there was some kind of Covid magic, he was done.  So long, and thanks for all the Championships.

Donovan Edwards is another …

Donovan Edwards is another "could stay, could go" guy.  I'd love to see him spending an offseason figuring out why 2023 was much more of a struggle than 2022, and being the Lightning to Mullings' Thunder... but if he wants to go to the League he'll leave behind a pile of highlights we can watch forever.

I don't know who let the…

I don't know who let the dogs out but Will Johnson and Mike Sainristil rounded them all back up, returned them to the safety of their dog enclosures, and gave them all a pat on the head.

I feel like JJ and Jim (and…

I feel like JJ and Jim (and maybe a few other big names) will either say they're staying at the celebration on Saturday, or if they're leaving, they'll wait until afterwards to say.  Timing would be awkward any other way.

There are so many breaking…

There are so many breaking news stories in the last 48 hours that they're continuously cycling each other off the front page.  Expect the next post to be about Saban retiring or Jake Thaw transferring.

How many Wolverines are…

How many Wolverines are going to get drafted, and what is our record?  Feel like we may take a run at it...

They've moved straight into …

They've moved straight into "The NCAA loves Michigan so much which is why they didn't get called for (penalty) when they (extremely marginal potential penalty situation)".

if enough news breaks in one…

if enough news breaks in one day, the posts can continuously bump each other off the front page. Perpetual motion, internet style!

Gonna be cold and windy,…

Gonna be cold and windy, bring your warm stuff.

ACC officials.  Seemed to do…

ACC officials.  Seemed to do a pretty good job.  My one gripe was that the ends of Washington's line were frequently taking the first backward step into pass protection before the ball was snapped.  I learned to start watching for that after listening to people bitching about NFL tackles doing it against Aiden Hutchinson, and I saw several examples of it last night.

Thanks for the heads-up on…

Thanks for the heads-up on the ESPN highlight package.  Saw it on youtube and figured I'd check it out later but sounds like it's not worth the 22 minutes.

Fat cap up has always worked…

Fat cap up has always worked for me.

Meijer had 8-9 lb brisket flats this weekend, so that's what I'm working with.  I usually work with a whole brisket which is an overnight job but if I've done things right this one should be done in about 10 hours.

The recipe I use starts with a dry rub of all the usual spices, and then while cooking you periodically baste it with a "mop" which is water, oil, vinegar, beer, garlic, onions, and spices.  That seems to do a good job of keeping things moist.

Your first paragraph…

Your first paragraph surprises me a bit because I've gone through our game threads after the fact and they strike me as super, super toxic.

I'm right there with you on the second paragraph though.

I realized a couple weeks…

I realized a couple weeks ago that every game (tailgate or home viewing) that I have provided barbeque for, we have won that game. My smoker is undefeated.

pork shoulder got us through the Rose Bowl.

brisket is cooking now.

boss makes a dollar, I make…

boss makes a dollar, I make a dime, that's why I spend all day watching youtube highlights, hype videos, and marching band playlists on company time.  Also boss is a U of M grad so I suspect he's doing the same anyhow.

Thanks for the background…

Thanks for the background info.  I can see how he didn't have a lot of options given that.  Hope he's there tomorrow and gets to celebrate a victory with the rest of the team.

I support player's right to…

I support player's right to transfer, especially players who don't see a path to playing time at their current school.

But man... you're announcing your transfer just over 24 hours before your old team takes the field in the national championship game?  You really didn't want to support all the guys you spent the last year training and playing with one more time?  I don't get that.

How big are bowl rosters?  Would he have travelled with the team?

Have you ever died halfway…

Have you ever died halfway through a sentence and then come back to life at the end of it?  That's a thing that can happen, apparently, because I experienced it just now.

By that metric MSU should…

By that metric MSU should have won both games, because Mel Tucker pulled penix before the season even started.

There is exactly one…

There is exactly one coaching staff who has actual head to head experience against both programs.  They're really the only ones qualified to have an informed opinion on this.

Let's hear from that bastion of reasonability and critical thinking... Your Michigan State Spartans!

Michigan remains undefeated…

Michigan remains undefeated against Anonymous Coaches.  Let's see if we can do it one more time...

No face mask on the Corum TD…

No face mask on the Corum TD.  I thought so live but the defender got him by the collar, not the mask.

And if you're going to list questionable non-calls you have to include our running-into-the-punter that wasn't.

Already saw the new SEC…

Already saw the new SEC talking points:

Georgia is the best team in college football. They just had one bad day in the SEC championship game and lost to Bama, but they're still number 1.  Georgia boatracing the FSU JV squad proves that the SEC is still dominant, Michigan taking down Saban and company is irrelevant. SEC SEC SEC!

There, I just saved you the trouble of trying to listen to these people directly.

If I had a gun with two…

If I had a gun with two bullets, and I was in a room with Hitler, bin-Laden, and Toby, I would shoot Toby twice.

Time to kill the non-playoff…

Time to kill the non-playoff bowl games.  They've become bloated and absurd.  Georgia vs. FSU's 2nd/3rd string was a farce... the kind of farce nobody is going to be very interested in paying to watch or attend.

And Jake Moody is 3/3 on…

And Jake Moody is 3/3 on kicks (2 extra points, one fg) to add to his streak.  ...about the only good news for the niners tonight.

I'm less interested in OSU…

I'm less interested in OSU football's twitter account's knowledge of north central Texas geography, and more interested in whether they ever found out what happened in the last 8 minutes of their game on November 24th.  They were tweeting every first down and touchdown, Marvin Harrison had a highlight, and then... nothing.  Weird.

I can understand where they…

I can understand where they're coming from - college football is well known for its parity.  Harbaugh's shenanigans are threatening to upset all that, though.  Can you imagine a world where college football didn't have such competitive balance?  A world where the vast majority of the money and power is in the hands of just a few teams?  Where the top 2-3 schools are recruiting factories where 90% of the top players go so they can all play together?  Where players and coaches are constantly looking for opportunities to leave their schools and move up to better ones?  Well, that wouldn't be any fun at all.  Harbaugh has to be stopped.

My mother-in-law used to get…

My mother-in-law used to get me some gift certificates so I've placed a few orders in the last couple years.

The steaks are good, worth the price - especially with an MGOBLOG coupon.  Watch out for the packages that give you a few steaks and then round out the rest of the order with chicken breasts and burger patties - I didn't find any of that stuff to be better than regular grocery store stuff.

Not sure what you're…

Not sure what you're remembering but he's 53/53 on extra points and his 3 field goal misses (out of 21) on the year were from 40, 41, and 54 yards.

I'm pretty sure that if you…

I'm pretty sure that if you've got a bone to pick with any given team, you can go through that school's game film and fill a highlight reel full of clips of what appears to be textbook examples of holding not drawing any flags.  I see opponents bitching about this with Michigan all the time.

So... is Alabama really doing more of this than Ohio State, or Penn State, or us?  I'd need to see more than a few screenshots to be convinced of that.

So I guess the fact that…

So I guess the fact that Coach Prime Year One worked out at Colorado more or less as well as predicted (4-8, with a "statement" win over TCU except then TCU turned out to be butt) isn't harming his ability to keep pulling in the big name recruits.
