Either he wins the job or he might grad transfer is what I said. They all grad transfer if they don’t win the job. After his UM degree he might want to play somewhere. By then we will have other QBs.
December 9th, 2019 at 9:23 PM ^
I had heard he only has a greyshirt offer. Can anyone confirm?
December 9th, 2019 at 9:47 PM ^
That's what he said in an interview with 247 a month ago:
“Coach Harbaugh told me for now he wants me as a preferred walk-on for 1 year and then scholarship for 4 years”
December 9th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
Yes, it's a highlight tape, but I like the kids moxy and looks like he can definitely play. Remember though, unless he's a 4 star then he's not acceptable to M fans. /s

OSU is laughing
December 9th, 2019 at 9:57 PM ^
Because OSU QB recruits have always worked out?
December 9th, 2019 at 10:08 PM ^
Yeah, those OSU QBs are total shit, right?
December 9th, 2019 at 10:52 PM ^
Tate Martell backup WR at Miami says hi.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:38 PM ^
Every OSU QB that beat Michigan since 2000 says "WTF are you idiots talking about?"
December 9th, 2019 at 10:08 PM ^
hmm, seems like OSU QBs are breaking records every year
December 11th, 2019 at 4:00 AM ^
I'm laughing at you. OSU's QB after Fields is a 3 star. Alabama's current QB is is a 3 star. Even those teams get an assortment of QB's, not all of them 4-5 stars.
December 9th, 2019 at 9:44 PM ^
I always get negged for asking this - but given Cade McNamara is redshirt freshman next year, and JJ McCarthy is coming in 2021 - combined with all the reputable QB transfers that now take place in the portal - is it really necessary for us to have a QB in the 2020 class?
Know I am a "spreadsheet jockey", and understand jack squat about big time college football recruiting strategy and operations. But seems logical to me we can live without a QB recruit for one goddamn year.
And hell - I wouldn't want Albany or Fordham deprived of their "chosen savior"...
December 9th, 2019 at 10:09 PM ^
Considering the importance of the position, the "miss" rate of a typical recruit, and the transfer portal, it's essential to have at least 1 and preferably 2 QBs every single class.
Imagine all the things that could happen--McNamara doesn't pan out. Dylan gets injured. Milton transfers after losing the starting job. No QB's this class. We could have all our eggs on Dylan for the next season and pretty much the season after. And then all our eggs on McCarthy the season after that.
The programs we want to compete with rarely let that happen.
December 9th, 2019 at 10:16 PM ^
Is this guy starting really that different than a walk on though? Like russel Bellamy was a wasted scholarship. We’ve only got 85 scholarships, id much rather have a walk on starting what is likely a lost season in 3 years if we get to that point than have less depth at say dt or cb for all 4 years
December 9th, 2019 at 11:09 PM ^
The lesson you should take from the Russell Bellomy disaster was that we only had 3 scholarship QBs when he played.
If we had had an extra QB ranked around the same as Bellomy, he might have at least lived up to his recruiting ranking. You can't afford to miss when you are leaving yourself short handed.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:09 PM ^
nvm - double post
December 9th, 2019 at 10:09 PM ^
I'd think hitting the transfer portal might make more sense than getting a super under the radar kid - assuming he's even coming here to play QB.
December 9th, 2019 at 10:10 PM ^
December 9th, 2019 at 10:48 PM ^
But one of Milton or McCaffrey are a high risk for transferring. If that happens and we don’t take a 2020 QB, we risk going into 2021 w/ only three scholarship QBs, one being a true freshman. And what if the winner of the job for next year blows up and leaves early or ends up a bust....
Gotta take one every year. The upside - leaving the spot for another recruit - isn’t worth the risk
December 9th, 2019 at 10:56 PM ^
Apparently some of us didn't learn a damn thing from Russell Bellomy, did we?
QB every year.
Oh, and more CBs, please.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:13 PM ^
I worked at UAlbany for a while. I wouldn't mind them being better.
But yeah, we should take a QB. I would assume the non-starter of DCaff and Milton starts to think transfer.

And that goes double for this one!!
December 9th, 2019 at 9:57 PM ^
I know this is a highlight reel, but how is this kid unranked? His athleticism jumps off the screen and his highlight reel goes on and on and on. He is a playmaker with his legs and seems to have good arm strength. DO WANT...to heck with the star gazers.
December 9th, 2019 at 10:05 PM ^
Another NE'ish under the radar guy. I hope he has a great visit.
December 9th, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
Can't we find the next Rocky Lombardi?
December 9th, 2019 at 10:16 PM ^
Meanwhile OSU'S QB is going to the Heisman ceremony. Oh, and so is their 2nd string QB from last year.
Fantastic.
December 9th, 2019 at 10:24 PM ^
Sounds like a Michigan commit. Somebody that no one else wants.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:14 PM ^
Sounds like a typical Thad comment!
Do you remember what “Thad” means in Thai? You’re such a miserable piece of shit!
December 15th, 2019 at 4:43 PM ^
Does that make you a Michigan commit too then?
December 9th, 2019 at 10:27 PM ^
Rivals has him committed to Fordham. Tape looks nice. They usually do.
Edit: nm decommitted Nov 26
NYHSFB called him "the most underrated QB prospect in the NE"
December 9th, 2019 at 11:11 PM ^
We have a Great qb committed in 2021. The sky isn’t falling. This is extremely late to be finding a QB.
December 15th, 2019 at 4:45 PM ^
It extremely late to be finding a QB bc they found a QB a long time ago but recently found out he can never play football again.
QB every class is a good idea. If Dylan or Joe transfers your left with a starter and McNamara and then walk ons.
December 10th, 2019 at 1:46 AM ^
Great tape. Big athlete who will fill out in his frame more. He sets his feet well, has a gun for an arm and is deceptively quick. Dan is a more athletic version of Philip Rivers.
This says that Wisconsin is in play also...

We'd better hope the loser of the McCaffrey v Milton QB battle doesn't transfer. If they do, things are looking pretty thin next year.
December 10th, 2019 at 6:37 AM ^
He had more rushing yards than passing. That’s a little discouraging but maybe it’s the offensive style? Kid looks like he can zip it.
December 10th, 2019 at 7:05 AM ^
Holy hell! I mean, I read the comments before watching the video, but daymmm!!! Kid has an arm that puts the ball on target 45 yards downfield without having to over work his arm. I know its a highlight reel, but no WR had to wait for the ball even half a step. This kid looks like a version of Ronnie Bell...

Did a little research and the kid plays for a team that is much more run dominant - something like 300-500 yds rushing and 100 yds passing. Also said that he often plays only the 1st half, as they are blowing out the competition. The team went 11-0. The closest game was an 18 pt win 25-7.
The coach was even suspended 1 game for running up the score in a 61 -13 win. Instead of a mercy rule, the NY league has adopted a policy to limit blowouts.

He rushes for 100 - 200 yds/game
He seems to have a 60 - 65% completion rate.

I’ll take leadership moxy and intangibles over raw measurables. Anyone remember a kid named Tom Brady?
December 15th, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
I also remember Alex Malzone
December 10th, 2019 at 10:58 PM ^
Dual threat QB's only. Pass.

You didn't watch the highlights.
December 15th, 2019 at 6:12 PM ^
While ohio gets top 100 recruits we get unranked recruits.
The gap is growing larger. We're not going to catch up anytime soon.
