Might also have something to do with the passing coordinator Jedd Fisch.  Definately a step down when Drevno took the reigns.

11/24/2018 - 7:25pm I think we can safely say…

I think we can safely say that Ryan Day owns Don Brown.

There was an article linked in a thread this week that explained how the two have a long history together, from both coaching at UMASS on opposite sides of the ball, to facing each other on other teams in the east.

Day did his homework and exploited the weaknesses, while Don Brown just tried his usual blitzing schemes.

Day is probably Urban's future sucessor.

O'Neill's crew was in charge in THE GAME 2016.  He had the famous pat on Mike Weber's butt and several other questionable calls.

Other than the bad spot at the end, there was a clear take down of a UM receiver running a route in the first half, without a PI flag.  I believe that forced a punt.

Also, O'Neill lives in the Columbus area, if that is what you're referring to.

Watching the Nebraska - Iowa game, a well known name in Michigan recent history came up.

John O'Neill, famous for his pat on the butt of Mike Weber and other more important officiating "decisions" in THE GAME two years ago, is working this game today.

Hopefully this means that he won't be available tomorrow and maybe the stars will align without, help from the officiating crew  ;o)

Targeting may have cost UM their perfect season.

In the ND game, their starting safety was ejected and the replacement got burned for 2 jump balls in the end zone.

10/28/2018 - 4:16pm Or ND other than the 1st…

Or ND other than the 1st week of the season, and that might account for the difference in the rankings.  Always need one week to adjust to the change in rosters, or in this case the change in OC/OL coordinators.

I think that the change from Drevno to Warinner is the main difference this season.

I had the same feeling when they first scheduled the game.  You always need one game at the beginning of the season to get the new players all on the same page.  Especially with the change from Drevno to Warinner.

Just think where we would be ranked, if we had kept Arkansas on the schedule !

This was mentioned in one of the original threads - that Zach had dirt on Urban from his Florida days and threatened to use it, if ever he was fired.

05/26/2018 - 5:29pm From what I've read, Vegas betting lines only reflect

what people are putting their money on.  Nothing to do with the actual play of the teams.

FWIW - ND offense is returning 7 starters on offense & 10 on defense.

WR & S seem to be the biggest question marks.  1 OL to replace, although 2 were drafted.

04/25/2018 - 2:46pm Since this has turned into a pay the players thread,

you have to think about all the side effects.

Equal pay for all college atheletes in all sports, men's and women's, or you will have an unending battle in the courts, where the lawyers are the only winners.

As it stands, the money goes to upgrading facilities in the universities for all sports, so the players/students benefit indirectly.  Cut that revenue stream and universities will be forced to choose which sports to finance and which to cut.  That would mean some universities that can't compete in the major sports, would then specialze in a few lesser sports, drawing/paying the best athletes and further creating an unbalance in the college sports world.

Finally, this would legalize bagmen.   Organize an autograph session every month - 100 autographs at $100 would add up to a nice amount at the end of the year.  Is the NCAA going to put a watchdog behind every organiser to make sure it's legal?

It's a gigantic can of worms, that will be hard to put the lid back on, once it's opened.

You can add Elvis Grbac to the list.

04/11/2018 - 6:15pm Spring game format

I wasn't a real fan of the preceeding Harbaugh spring games format, with team captains picking the rosters.

Dividing the position players into 2 groups, doesn't give a good feel for the state the team. It seemed more like sandlot pickup.

Most other teams pit the n°1 offense vs the n°1 defense, then the n°2s have a go. That gives a better feel to state of each group.

04/03/2018 - 3:03pm and 3 minutes / game (Wilson)

In several mock drafts I looked at a couple days ago, Mo was projected in the lower 20's.

That's also DJ Wilson territory.

Mo is surely a much better player, but still has talents to develope and probably would have  more fun in the college game, than 3rd string NBA.

04/01/2018 - 11:52am Yeah, Poole always seems a step or 2 behind his man on D.

Against Villanova's offense, that can be fatal.

It will be a tradeoff of Off vs Def, to see how much playing time he will get on Monday.

Hopefully, Mo, Charles & Jordan can help calm down the nerves of the other starters, to let them just play their game.

03/31/2018 - 8:45pm Hopefully Beate Wagner will be the good luck charm

we need on Monday.

Mo plays his best when she is in the stands.

03/31/2018 - 11:17am Mo will also be a key, as he has been very inconsistent to date

You never know which Mo will show up.

Or maybe with the other players playing well, Mo will be more the difference between a close game and a blowout.

We will need all the players to bring their "A" game on Monday, so hopefully this is a good tuneup and helps get their confidence up.

03/31/2018 - 11:07am On the other hand, think of the impact on the title game, Monday

What would a n°1 vs n°11 do to ratings?

Cinderella getting blown out or a n°3 with a chance to make it interesting.

As all here, let's hope that the refs let the game be decided on the court.

03/28/2018 - 4:29pm Mo improved immensely in rebounding and defense.

I think there is still room for improvement and consistency, next year.

03/27/2018 - 7:53pm Hopefully Yaklich spends some time preparing for Kansas &

A day and a half, doesn't give much time to change gears.

At least they are in the first game, so they can sit back and watch their future opponent.

03/25/2018 - 4:25pm You can compare a 2nd year Matthews' performance in the tourney

, to Kentucky's 1st year All Americans, to get an idea of how things could play out next year.  Not to mention team basketball vs individual stars.

As for preseason rankings, who cares.  Better to start out the season without a target on the back.  Also, gives the freshman class time to get Beilein's playbook down.

03/25/2018 - 4:14pm Matthews doesn't have the outside game yet,

to be a NBA guard.  If he can get that part down, he could be a 1st rounder in next year's draft.

As for Mo, he needs much more consistancy to even think about the 1st round.  You never know which Mo will show up.

I'm beginning to wonder if Mo's highly emotional nature gives him problems for getting a restful sleep before big games.  Just a theory, but it might explan part of his inconsistancy.

03/25/2018 - 3:54pm Look at Villanova

Starting lineup :  6'9" & 6'8" forwards and 3 guards.

A 7' center is nice, but not essential.

03/22/2018 - 7:15pm Is anyone else having a streaming problem?

I get the message disconnected, then a screen saying the "Content is no longer available".

Tried renewing the screen several times to no avail.  Set it up on a 2nd computer so that I could watch and comment at the same time, but they both lost the stream at the same time.

I'm in Europe, so I don't know if it has something to do with connecting from outside the US.

03/18/2018 - 11:55pm A bit confusing, depends which bracket you look at

According the Yahoo ( we are the in the bottom half the bracket,

Meaning that we meet the winner the Duke/Kansas matchup for the right to the final four matchup against the top half of the bracket = Villanova favorite.
