Hopefully he stays another year or two, then Michigan can grab Jay Bateman, Army's recently departed defensive coordinator who just took the same job at North Carolina. Assuming Jay doesn't also snag a head coaching job somewhere.

Give the guy a raise, and find a Don-brown warrior type willing to train under him for several years. I don't doubt there' s a secondary coach somewhere in his 20's or even 30's who would love the opportunity to try to soak up everything Don Brown football related. I know it's not that easy, but organizations often fail at mentorship, and recruiting only gets you so far.

Patridge at some point is going to want to be Defensive Coordinator. Plus he is way better recruiter.  If he leaves to be one elsewhere, I doubt he comes back.

Gotta think in a year or two, you give Patridge the job.

If brown sat for a presser or spoke to media after practice does anyone have video? Interested to hear his comments on OSU but can't seem to find his interview in its entirety

Not a video but a few comments in an article Isaiah put together on his site.  Nothing earth shattering. Basically, sounds like he chalks it up to some busted coverages he calls “head scratchers” and a couple of their guys playing out of their minds.

Despite the 62 point OSU game, Don Brown’s stock is still the highest it will be, because the defense will likely take a step back next year with the losses of Gary, Winovich, and Bush

Not necessarily.  We said this when Wormley, Taco, Lewis, etc went to the league and they came back and were really good in 2017.

Gary played injured all year.  Uche + Paye is pretty damn good.  Bush will be hard to replace, but I expect some young guys to make some noise.

Most programs are going to consider him to be too old to build around.  So he has his right situation and the schools will have theirs.

A school like Temple, aside from not choosing him, really has to look closely at him.

Brown deserves to be paid a lot more than Pep Hamilton and in the market for elite DCs. Pay the man Warde Manuel

Anyone else with Don Brown's success in this role would have already left a year ago, so all the hand-wringing is pretty misplaced. The fact he's likely to be here for a year 4 is purely down to age and his long-time off-the-radar status and no-one can ever blame him for trying himself at HC on a FBS team.

Any future replacement who is younger and on the upward career trajectory *will* leave within a year or two of big success just like Durkin did. Any future replacement will almost certainly also have bad games, especially against the best opponents we face.

Kind of a "take my ball and go home" mentality. Don't get blown out and don't let the players think they're going to walk into the Shoe and easily win.

If I suck at my job I'm not getting a raise or promotion. Welcome to real life.

I hated the Don Brown quotes regarding all the simple mistakes the defense made against OSU.  OF COURSE Michigan played it’s worst defensive game of the year, and OF COURSE OSU played its best  offensive game of the year.

I don’t know what to think or feel about this still a month later.  Don browns defense got absolutely torched against Ohio state I still can’t figure out how they were not prepared for anything that was thrown at them that Day especially after the Indiana game the week before.  Ohio watched the same game we did, and did the exact same thing but there players are faster and more athletic. I’m still not over it and don’t think I will be at this point until we actually win a game against them.

Very hard, in CFB, to adapt in one week for an offense with OSU's speed and athletes. This is going to require an off-season adjustment. NFL teams can adjust, but 18-22 year old guys are not that adaptable.

It killed me to see the OSU kill us, but realized DB needs time to fix it off-season.

Some historical perspective would be helpful here:

1. 1978 Rose Bowl, an then unknown Warren Moon torches a Michigan D with his running and passing. Michigan finally answers offensively but not enough to overcome a 24-0 deficit.

2. 1978 MSU rolls up about 500 yards in a stunning win at UM 24-15. Thankfully, Sparty is on probation and Michigan goes on to lose the Rose Bowl (the infamous Charles White non-TD).

3. Michigan D gets nickeled and dimed to death in 3 season closing losses in 1979 to Purdue, OSU, UNC.

4. After a sloppy start in 1980, the D rallies to hold the last 6 opponents (in the final 5.5 games) to a total of ZERO TDs and 3 FGS.

5. The DC: a fellow named Bill McCartney. He devised the famous all-game dime defense (4-1-6) to shut down Mark Herrmann and Purdue (26-0, with ZERO 2nd half 1st downs). Then held Heisman trophy eternal Art "bet on everything and anything" Schlichter to one FG. Then delivered BOs 1st ever RB win (23-6).

So...DB is a lot older than Bill Mac, so I don't see a change in jobs. But I do see a guy who will adapt. Give him a chance!

I feel like Don Brown is Michigan’s Jim Leyland. Many fans will dismiss the success and dwell on the big losses with constant “We can do just as good or better no worries”

Then you are a tigers fan in 2018 and don’t ever bring up what you said about Leyland again.

Osu scores the most points ever ...& give him a raise? Hahaha...

Scott Frost come real close to beating them in the Shoe this year with that scrub team he fielded. The dude can coach...

Let's be honest.  This is a "what have you done for me lately" world.  Looking over 3 years, Brown has an outstanding record.  However, most of us remember the last game against Michigan's arch rival, in front of a huge national TV audience. Fortunately it didn't hurt recruiting too much.  But it is likely the determining factor in swaying Harrison.

After that game, Don Brown should have one mission in life. Redemption. Everyone of us have had stinkers.  Sports, academics or life moments, we all have had at least one time we wish we had a "do over".  Well guess what Don Brown, stay for 2019 and you will get a "do over".
