TIL: Drew Henson reads MgoBlog, Hey Drew!

Also, as a UofD alum, glad we can at least take a half credit for Gardner.

07/09/2018 - 3:04pm France-Belgium is pretty…

France-Belgium is pretty even except Mbappe has made defenders look foolish, and I think he will do the same or worse against Kompany and company(sorry for that) ... also can't help but think Belgium gets caught pressing too hard and gives France numbers on the attack

07/09/2018 - 2:56pm I think Croatia have the…

I think Croatia have the clear advantage in midfield, and depending on how severe their GK's injury is, possibly in goal. England has the advantage everywhere else.  Combine that with the physical and emotional toll of Croatia's shootouts (remember England rested a lot of players in their last group game), I think England takes it.

07/09/2018 - 1:58pm I think Duncan and Moe are…

I think Duncan and Moe are both going to have problems with D in the league.   Moe will still be a valuable role player that fans will love, while Duncan will toe the line between NBA, G League and Europe.

Following bball recruiting is even worse than following football,  so many less names to follow means agonizing over each recruit that much more.

24/7 says Johns is #23, I can't really tell from the picture though: https://247sports.com/player/brandon-johns-85778

Can't help but think England's talent and 2 straight shootouts will be too much for Croatia, so going with England.

My head says France, but my heart wants Belgium, and I'm going with my heart.

Final is Belgium over England 3-2.  Lukaku and Hazard combine for a late goal as 3 Lions fans the world over cause a sonic boom with their combined screams of "Noooooo"

David DeJulius (0, 4-star PG, Detroit),  Brandon Johns (23?, East Lansing 4-star PF) , Ignas Brazdeikis (13, Ontario 4-star SF), Adrian Nunez (5, CT 3-Star SG), Colin Castleton (11, Florida 4-star C)

...since I had to look some of the names up, figured I would share

Before they changed the rules, including giving it a set end date, it looked like this would never end, with the same territories being taken, lost and then re-taken.  I think having a set end date kept excitement (and probably participation) up and made the players a little more aggressive.

(Caveat: I haven't actually been playing, just guessing based on the results as reported here).

My freshman year wardrobe was all Steve and Barry's ...also my whole 2nd semester wardrobe when I had to replace all those ripped S&B shirts

So crazy, the look on his face is just sheer disbelief he did it.  Congratulations, and Go Blue!!

Not usually one to get in a way of a good joke, but didn't Cardale Jones get his degree? Regardless from where, that's Good on him.

06/04/2018 - 8:29am Salah Injury

ummmm, sorry....  http://kwese.espn.com/football/egypt/story/3517448/egypt-name-liverpool…

Blame Sergio Ramos, who went all Kelly Olynk on Mo in the Champions League final

06/01/2018 - 4:30pm Good list.  The only surprise

Good list.  The only surprise for me is that Braylon Edwards wasn't a 5 star recruit.  He's around the same age as me, so maybe I just heard about him so much in high school, that I figured he must have been highly rated.

05/30/2018 - 11:01pm Higher Ranked Caris Levert?

He reminds me of Caris Levert with a better build.

I am both jealous but glad that I don't have that temptation

Outside of Bush, I have no clue who will be playing linebacker next fall, but I have no doubt whoever it is will wreak havoc <<insert maniacal laugh here>>

Sometimes its nice to know that everyone is as petty as you

05/28/2018 - 9:12pm Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea, etc

Yeah, always loved Dempsey, so will be sad to see him phased out.  The new generation are already starting to work their way into top teams plans has me feeling good about the future.

05/28/2018 - 8:31pm 1. I love that they finally

1. I love that they finally gave the young guys a chance.  Even thouguht they didn't really hav a choice since many of the old guard will be too old by the next World Cup

2. No need to put down the older players, Clint Dempsey, Bradley, Howard and even Jozy have their faults, but they did put in work for the USMNT.  I put the failures of the USMNT more on bad coaching and not giving some of this younger talent, like McKennie, more opportunity, it would have injected way more energy to this team

05/21/2018 - 8:25pm As a relative soccer

As a relative soccer neophyte, With Man City set to dominate, Man U seemingly getting back to being Man U, and even Spurs doing well.... what is Arsenal's ceiling the next few years? 4/5th place and maybe a Europa League cup?? (Genuinely Curious)

05/21/2018 - 5:36pm He did good work at Sevilla,

He did good work at Sevilla, so a good chance this turns out well.  Better than hiring a rookie manager in Arteta at least.

Coincidentally, the Tuna Melt is John Beilein's favorite sandwich

04/28/2018 - 1:31pm From what I've read, Hurst

From what I've read, Hurst would be a horrible fit in the Lions defense... plus I wouldn't wish the Lions on anyone, if the Browns didn't exist,  I would swear we were cursed

04/28/2018 - 1:20pm Yeah, Hand talked up the

Yeah, Hand talked up the Educational experience and specifically the Michigan Engineering program during recruiting... one of the reasons fans were sure he was coming here, right up until the point he didn't.

04/19/2018 - 4:39pm Also sounds like taking off

Also sounds like taking off wasn't an option, wonder if what the pilot did was the best of some bad options

04/10/2018 - 10:51am Wha?????

There are legitimate criticisms of Mo Hurst (not many, but some).  But I don't think his effort was ever one of them

03/27/2018 - 11:38am I thought the "Big payoff"

I thought the "Big payoff" was Elite Eights, Final Fours and National Championships.

03/26/2018 - 10:18am Love Dakich, I really do.

Love Dakich, I really do.  But the fact that OSU was as good as it was with Dakich playing that much is a testament to the job Holtmann did this year

03/24/2018 - 7:08pm Wooooo!!!

Wooooo!!!

03/21/2018 - 1:39pm Jump from 1 Ft to 0 Ft

I think he was referring to the jumps in percentage when the defender is 0 feet away (i.e. from more than 24 feet away, the percentage jumps UP from 41.7% to 51% as the defender get closer)... his theory is that the increase in eFG% is due to Fouls being called in those instances.

Not much difference between a 10 or a 12 seed in the 1st round, but facing  a 2 seed vs a 1 seed in the 2nd round could be big.

01/24/2018 - 1:21pm What I was trying to say is

What I was trying to say is that if the Secondary is even better than it was this year, opposing quarterbacks are in trouble.

01/24/2018 - 12:57pm I think Metellus was actually

I think Metellus was actually good last year.  He was only "bad" compared to the rest of an elite defense, and even then wasn't really that far off from the rest of the D.  If Hughes does beat out Metellus at Safety, I pray for those poor quarterbacks next year who will either be getting sacked or throwing interceptions every other play.

01/17/2018 - 4:53pm I think that should be an

I think that should be an after retirement thing.  And if you do it while they're still coaching, better be a National Championship or 2 involved in that discussion.

01/04/2018 - 4:45pm 2nd Chance

He didn't do well his first go round here, but he was set up to Fail (an ex-Linebacker asked to coach CBs).   Would love to have a more experienced Manning back at the Big house at some point though.

12/19/2017 - 11:22am Didn't read all of the

Didn't read all of the comments, but those RFID chips that Marathons use to track runners would be a possible solution... don't know how precise they can be, but they are near weightless.

12/18/2017 - 3:22pm Counter-Argument

Since this is right around Firing season, I could also understand holding off just to make sure the coach you tihnk you'll be playing for is the one you will  actually be playing for.

12/18/2017 - 1:23pm Seems like the only kids that

Seems like the only kids that wouldn't sign either:

1. Truly don't know what they want to do

2. School won't let them sign, and now they know they're PLan B

3. Want the ESPN Signing Day Hat ceremony.

I just hope it's way more Category 1, than categories 2 or 3.

12/13/2017 - 11:32am Booooooo

Booooooo

12/12/2017 - 5:32pm Continuity

I think you could scheme around doing this (by added efficiency in the plays you run, and breaking tendencies just enough to keep them guessing)... the bigger issue is it seems Offensive Line seems to be built on working together and playing off of each other, constant substitutions stunts that.
