What were some of the worst recruiting decisions made by Hoke and RR?

RR: Giving Ray Vinopal a scholarship

Hoke: Not taking a QB in 2012.

This topic sucks. Here’s a new one: let’s name all the STDs we’ve had. Mean Joe, you go first since it’ll take a while and they’ll be koala STDs.

Lloyd Carr's negative recruiting of Mallet, which sabotaged RichRod, was the single worst player personnel disaster of the 2008 - 2014 years.

Put it perspective please.... for Carr to get Mallett to even come here, he had to be straight about things...  and then when RR goes to spread offense, Carr had to be honest again about it.  Don't discount integrity here... not easy to land the top QB....  can't have it both ways.

Ray Vinopal?  You mean the safety who turned into a bullet in a home game against Illinois to save the game on 4th down and get Michigan the win?

Apparently, you didn't go to or watch that game.  Weird post.

Who’s excited to play Army next year? They’re gonna end up 11-2 this year, took playoff Oklahoma to the wire and service academies are notoriously tricky to prepare for. This feels like it could be a butt clencher spectacular.

I golf frequently with Bo Pelini. After he played us while he was at Nebraska and we played RVP, he was at a loss of how that guy saw the field let alone had a scholarship.

RR believed every damn tiny slot receiver could just switch positions.  Felt like he was literally playing darts with slot receiver recruiting, and neither RR or Hoke recruited the oline or dline well enough.

RR waiting in vain for Pryor when he should have been appealing to Mallett. He should have convinced him that he would phase in his offense, while coaching to Mallets strengths. The kid had a cannon arm, and we had receivers.

We should have gone run and shoot and gradually transitioned to the read option over time, and as personnel allowed. By hoping for a Phoenician miracle, he sealed his fate almost from day one, and doomed us to our misery.

?  Ray Vinopal was honorable mention all-ACC in 2013 and voted as a defensive captain for Pitt in 2014.

For a guy who is someone’s worst recruiting decision, he did alright.

Ray vinopal had a record senior year at Pitt which is where he finished out..

He was unreal and I believe he led the acc in interceptions that year?  Can't remember.

The offensive guys that RR recruited, that qualified and stayed with the program, developed pretty well under that regime.  Defensive side was close to a disaster.
