No.  Ridiculous to have thought he could unseat Speight who had a pretty decent 2016.  Even the decision to go w/ O'Korn first was the right one, although they probably stayed w/ him too long.

Good for him.  Seems like he has a good attitude about it.  Whatever helps him find the field fastest and help the team.

I would nominate any Detroit sportswriter / newscaster who actually bothered to report on the victims of the Izzo / Dantonio rape culture for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.  The silence in the local media is deafening.

Don't really have a top 10 / 25 ... but here's a few that come to mind (very sitcom biased).

George Costanza - Seinfeld, Michael Scott - The Office, Hawk - Spenser for Hire, Dr. Johnny Fever - WKRP, Ted Baxter - The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Fonz - Happy Days (early seasons only), Felix Unger and Oscar Madison - The Odd Couple, Larry Bird - The Neighbors, Murray Hewitt - Flight of the Conchords

Weezer's new cover version of "Africa" is pretty good.

Things that Mark Dantonio will not discuss:  sexual assault and general criminality of members of his football team, "alleged" steroid use in his program...

It would be great if one of the MGoReporters used their press credentials to crash Mork's press session to ask some real questions for once.

Its not fourth of July without a viewing of "1776" or "Yankee Doodle Dandy"

The cocks in footvall.  Two lucky wins against us in winnable bowl games.  We owe them payback big time

If I were either of them I wouldn't overthink it.  Play your best and ride the momentum forwards.

I don't think that the negative reaction across some members of the board to three stars is necessarily related to the fact that they don't like 3 stars per se as much as taking 3 stars shows that we are missing out on our top targets -- Lance Dixon, Logan Brown, Devontae Dobbs, etc. - and would rather not have to move on to Plan B in so many cases.

That being said, I personally trust the coaches and wish all of the young men they see fit to award a scholarship to the best of success.

TTB has a really nice look / display on mobile.  They should have followed that model.

Only 3 MI cities on the list.  Saginaw must be moving up in the world.

06/13/2018 - 2:14pm The new has a brighter look…

The new has a brighter look that is easier on the eyes.  I'm not used to the layout yet but I'll get used to it soon enough.  I'm keeping a positive outlook in the meantime -- "All for the best in the best of all possible worlds" and all that.

Still cannot get the old app to work on the phone.  I'm sure I missed some sort of informative post on this along the way.

06/13/2018 - 8:01am No particular order

No particular order

Jimmy Stewart (best films imo are Harvey, Vertigo, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Man Who Knew Too Much).  Was great early in his career (Philadelphia Story) and late in his career (Shenandoah).  Brilliant when teamed with Hitchcock

Tom Hanks - best of our generation

Can't decide on a third but it would be between Bogart, William Holden (amazing actor unrecognized by people too young to remember him), Newman, Hoffman, Nicholson, Bogart, DeNiro

John Wayne is probably greatest all time movie star.  Unmatched screen presence.  Amazing when pared with John Ford (The Searchers, The Quiet Man, Fort Apache among about a dozen or so)

When you get around to all time greatest directors, you have to include John Ford.

06/07/2018 - 12:15pm Comparing this to the Grant…

Comparing this to the Grant Perry situation makes this an even bigger joke.  it seems like they tried to throw the book at the kid and they let these three dirtbages get away w/ pleading to a crime that doesn't even require them to register as sex offenders.

05/30/2018 - 10:10am My 3 "go to" blogs from 5 years ago

1. MGoBlog

2. Touch the banner

3. Tremendous

05/30/2018 - 7:22am And two of those TD's to WRs were in the first 2 games

That means only 1 passing TD to a WR in the last 11 games.  Amazing.

05/30/2018 - 7:21am I recall a site called "Brices Blog" a few years ago

I've always assumed it was by Brice Marich who has obviously gone on to bigger and better things.  I enjoyed it since it was clearly an earnest attempt by a young fan to put his passion to work.

05/28/2018 - 5:50pm Happy Memorial Day

And RIP Harambe

05/25/2018 - 8:38pm MLS has been consistent from Day 1

What part of "we want purpose built, intimate soccer stadiums, not reuse of large football / baseball venues" did the idiots managing the Detroit entry not understand?  The league has been generally consistent on this from the start.

05/25/2018 - 10:53am +1 for ELO reference

CANNOT WAIT to see them in concert later this summer!

05/23/2018 - 7:19am Freep trying to rebuild its Sparty readership base?

05/22/2018 - 6:47pm Carr’s recruiting was pretty solid

I miss owning the state of Michigan and being able to grad blue chippers out of Ohio

05/22/2018 - 6:44pm Sparty probably lobbied hard

Wanted to schedule Montana state or some other school that most people don’t even realize have a football team instead.

Also, now that we are dropping a conf game we can hopefully go back to osu and sparty at home in alternating years — w/ a back to back at home w sparty to make up for the recent imbalance

05/17/2018 - 3:24pm User name checks out

05/16/2018 - 6:12pm I think they would be pretty cool w/ white pants

kind of an inverse look to the old road uniform.  IMO, the all yellow look was a little tough on the eyes however.

05/16/2018 - 1:26pm Yep

My thoughts exactly

05/15/2018 - 7:30am Ed school is nothing special

People talk Sparty school of ed up bc half of the high school teachers in the state seemingly went there.  I read somewhere (US News and World Reports?) that M is actually ranked higher -- top 10 even.  M's program is very strong on the school administration side of things.  Makes sense since we put out Leaders.

05/14/2018 - 8:01am GVSU is up and coming

GVSU is a good overall option.  Well respected.  Very solid academics.  Nice location.  No rape culture and couch burning.

For engineering, I would choose Kettering and MI Tech over Sparty any day.  I've worked with a number of kids from those institiutions and they are very sharp.

05/14/2018 - 7:58am Makes sense

At this point it is a money grab.  Get as many tuition $s as possible to compensate for declining donations and to help fund expenses and settlements related to Nassar, etc.  Also, increasing enrollment will help in arguing for greater state aid in the MI State legislature.

As U of M gets more and more competitive, the pool of potential students for Sparty keeps growing.  My daughter is a high school senior and I can tell you that a large proportion of the population of students only applying to 2 schools -- M as primary and Sparty as back-up plan -- is still very much a thing.

05/11/2018 - 12:01pm I cannot imagine anyone else winning Frosh of the year

She is the most dominant pitcher (by far) at the most important position in the game.

05/10/2018 - 5:08pm Maybe

05/09/2018 - 7:39am He morphed

Now wears a blue "water buffalo lodge" hat with dark sunglasses.  Still works the cow bell.

Sits by us.  Seems like a nice guy.

05/04/2018 - 9:55am Add Moody's and S&P to the ever growing list of ...

...groups that Sparty fans are boycotting.

So now Sparty could be financially bankrupt as well as morally bankrupt.

05/02/2018 - 3:56pm This could be fixable

If you recall back to Chris Spielman's early days of broadcasting, his voice was much weaker (and higher pitched) than it is today.  Maybe its confidence.  I don't know.  Regardless, Spielman has turned into one of my favorite analysts.  Goes to show that you need to give guys some time to develop and mature into their roles, even in broadcasting.

04/30/2018 - 8:50pm The Wilpon complex went to grass bc of weather

Season starts too early in Michigan for grass to be healthy on bball and sball fields.

04/20/2018 - 1:38pm The only gut I trust is Sam's gut

04/18/2018 - 2:09pm "I am from the internet and have repeatedly suggested Austin

Davis could/should transfer?"

Now among my top 5 MGoQuotes of all time!

I need someone to explain the Sarah McLaughlin reference to me.  I didn't quite get that one.

04/18/2018 - 9:38am It's nice to be nice to the nice

(Insert Major Frank Burns gif here)

04/18/2018 - 7:31am You indirectly make a very good point

We should separate the politics of the president's from their first ladies.  Richard Nixon will go down in history as, well, Richard Nixon but Pat Nixon was an outstanding first lady.  She was very much from the same mold as Barbara Bush.

If Pat Nixon wasn't in your top three you should rethink your list, or at least expand it to 4.

04/18/2018 - 7:27am She was a treasure

The most genuine and down to earth frst lady of my lifetime.  She sets the standard by which I measure all of the others.

04/17/2018 - 4:35pm A few random thoughts

Can't believe that the Backstreet Boys have outsold Tom Petty - especially if you count Travelling Wilbury's, Mudcrutch and his solo stuff on top of the Heartbreakers.  Dude put out like 20 albums in total, most of them gold records.

I wouldn't really equate Eagles w/ California with Henley being from Texas and Frey from MI.

Not sure about NH either w/ Joe Perry from MA and Steven Tyler from NY.

John Denver isn't from Colorado? /s

Who the f*ck are Spencer Bohren and Billy Gilman?

04/17/2018 - 1:31pm Sad

hope and pray that things work out for the yound man.

04/16/2018 - 6:51pm interesting dynamic up there

BC is effectively doing everything in their power to keep UConn out of the ACC.  It hasn't benefited them much for recruiting though.  They used to get some decent talent from CT - Bill Romanowski being the best example IIRC.

04/15/2018 - 11:21am That's funny

My best friend in high school was Jewish (in fact he still is).  I used to torture him by making him listen to the album.

Oh, the good old days.

04/14/2018 - 11:09pm Not golden state

I wouldn’t wish being draymond Greene’s teammate on anyone.

04/14/2018 - 3:44pm Filling in my evening binge watching the amazon

Series. Would rather be at the big house but this will be a good consolation watch

04/14/2018 - 3:36pm Don’t count on Detroit media for anything

They want nothing more than this story to go away since they know that alienating the sparty readership will reduce already falling circulation and, in the case of tv, viewership. Case in point, on wdiv news last night the MSU hearing was like the fourth of fifth story.

04/14/2018 - 3:15pm double post

04/13/2018 - 7:35am Best of luck to him

Speight and Chip Kelly seems like an odd match style wise.  Hope he does well and gets a chance.
