So this is fascinating to me.  Can you elaborate on the $ and thugs part?

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only OSU fan to absolve him of most of the defense's woes last season.  Losing Kerry Coombs hurt more than I expected in the secondary, and apparently Alex Grinch did nothing in his time in Columbus, upset that he wasn't the main guy on defense.

On the bright side, Bert Bielema will probably be back on the market soon, should anyone need him in their life again.

I hated Sr. so much when he played; he was Deion Sanders, except on offense.  As soon as he caught the ball, he did one of two things: step out of bounds to avoid a hit, or fall to the turf to avoid a hit.  I think he played close to 15 years without ever being legit tackled.  Knowing now how damaging football can be, I think he was a pretty smart dude more than a chickenshit.

It is worth noting just how much more popular Brady is in Michigan now compared to when he played there...

I think I speak for most Buckeyes when I wish him luck and hope he's eligible in 2019.

He's been right about a couple things though: I think he had Kareem Walker's departure way before anyone else, same with Al Washington.  Blind squirrel?

Cincinnati is a geographic rival (11-2 last season) and OSU has a home/home with Oregon starting in 2020.

Warriner didn't go from OSU to UM.  He was at Minnesota when you got him.

01/04/2019 - 2:28pm I (and prob many others)…

I (and prob many others) assumed Grinch was brought in to replace Schiano, and when the Tennessee offer blew up, Grinch was somewhat marginalized.  Whether that's true or not, 2018's defense sucked, so not a huge loss.

The recruiting class is pretty good: three 5*s and the highest per-recruit grade in the conference.  They've not TN, can't take 30 kids every cycle...

01/04/2019 - 12:00pm So, since some of you…

So, since some of you probably know more about the eligibility question than I (bc of Patterson), what are the odds Fields has to sit a year?  A now-former UGA baseball player used the n-word in reference to Fields, and that's supposedly his basis for fighting to be immediately eligible.

That, of course, is not really why he's transferring; he wants a shot to start immediately. Anyone want to gauge his likelihood of success?

OSU: Nick Bosa, Dremont Jones, Mike Weber are going early.

Have to think Haskins and WR KJ Hill will declare at any time.

OL Michael Jordan and S Jordan Fuller could stay or go.

Many football players get processed through the General Studies program at Ohio State, since academies aren't important.  Oh wait...

And if you think for a minute that Michigan doesn't have bagmen (especially after the NFL scout story around Thanksgiving), I won't crush you with the truth about Santa.

OSU wins because they're better.  Better coaches, better recruits, better facilities.  Downvote me all you want in a fit of impotent rage, but Alabama is better than OSU for the same reasons.

12/30/2018 - 9:10am I hate to be the cold splash…

I hate to be the cold splash of reality, but no, Michigan and Alabama do not have similar personnel.  You're barely playing the same sport at this point.  Just about the only team that could make your claim and not be laughed out of any bar on Earth is getting ready to play Bama in a few weeks.

So A, B, C, or D?

12/23/2018 - 8:35am I realize I have to walk a…

I realize I have to walk a fine line posting here (like I've been doing for 5+ yrs), and I also understand the Michigan natives are restless, but this is direct from the Wisconsin-Barry Alvarez playbook.  The guy understandably can't handle the day-to-day role of coaching a powerhouse football program (including the recruiting aspect)- he has a cyst on this brain. This move keeps him involved in the program, utilizes his abilities so solicit donations, and keeps him in the bullpen as 'the closer' if needed for a recruiting pitch.

Since he had previously ceded non-special teams play calling to Day and Grinch/Schiano, he's not going to be radioing orders to Day from the pressbox.  If something blows up (like Bielema leaving for Arkansas rather than coach the bowl), he steps in temporarily.

I know it doesn't fit the whole 'sexing coeds, committing gangland murders on behalf of Aaron Hernandez's ghost, domestic abuse ring in the basement of a Columbus-area pizza and/or tattoo shop' narrative borne out of football stagnancy you folks have to espouse, but hey, you still root for the Harvard of the Midwest (well, except for those of you who renounce your fanhood after every loss).

(Sorry for the last paragraph; please ctrl-v one or more of the following):

A. Fuck OSU and fuck you

B. Don't crash your semi while posting

C. How lame that you visit your rival's site

D. Why did you do that in an otherwise perfectly fine cooler?

No OSU fans are acting like beating Michigan was like beating a giant.  We just beat the same team we beat every year.

The problem is that some Michigan fans are clinging to the hope that the Wolverines don't do all of this too.  If you'd told me every program outside the service academies pay players, I wouldn't blink.

As far as the academic superiority goes, how many kids are in the "General Studies" program?  Or is it still kinesiology?

Getting mad about losing a kid to Alabama is like getting mad at the sun for rising whether you're Michigan, Ohio State, or anyone.

From a Buck fan's perspective, sure, at least initially.  Meyer's the second best in the game, and Day's kind of an unknown commodity.  I would have really liked to have seen Meyer take an emeritus role like Alvarez at Wisky, but if Day can keep the 2019-2020 recruits mostly in place, he'll be fine.

12/02/2018 - 12:52pm I mean, as an OSU fan, I …

I mean, as an OSU fan, I 'secretly' want no part of Bama, Clemson, UGA, or Okie. Records aside, those are the best four teams in football.  ND gets in, costing UGA (probably) a slot, but the Irish are going to get humiliated by any of the other three.

I've read various indignant posts on this site about how OSU pays guys, Alabama pays guys, and that's why it's so hard to catch up.  It's bullshit "well, we do things the right way" high-road drivel.  We fans should all probably stop with the bagman excuse when a recruit goes elsewhere.  I'd be shocked if there was a school out there (outside of the service academies) that doesn't pay recruits.
