Steve Lorenz CB's 2019 4* OLB Miami commit Anthony Solomon to Michigan
https://247sports.com/Player/Anthony-Solomon-82362/
83% of crystal balls now have Solomon flipping to Michigan and this could've been the source of Dudek and Petzold's commit watch signals. Solomon is a 4* OLB, #195 in the country in the 247 composite and #395 in 247's internal rankings

Related to Aubrey?
November 27th, 2018 at 10:47 AM ^
No relation, AFAIK.
November 27th, 2018 at 5:09 PM ^
Aubrey's his sister.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:07 AM ^
We are all still sitting on the edge of our seats from multiple commit watch posts yesterday. Adding Solomon would indeed be good news! I wonder if this is the Huge commitment that was being discussed and tweeted about yesterday?
November 27th, 2018 at 10:13 AM ^
That Crystal Ball is from April of 2017. He just never changed it when Solomon committed to Miami. Steve Wiltfong is the one who put his CB in yesterday. Still probably means the same thing, but Wiltfong's is the only recent prediction.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:10 AM ^
Yeah, the first time I wrote about him was in December of 2015. Sometimes it's crazy when I think about how much and how long we've followed the ups and downs and changing tides of these kids' careers.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:14 AM ^
I wonder how accurate his times are. If you run a 4.24 shuttle, your 40 time is usually closer than 4.8. It used to be whenever I would see both numbers posted, the 40 was almost exactly .3 slower than the shuttle.
His measurables must have changed. 6-0, 190 sounds like a projected safety more so than a linebacker.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:52 AM ^
I believe he’s a safety/LB tweener which is why people thought he would be a good fit at viper
November 27th, 2018 at 11:15 AM ^
Pesek Hickson and Velazquez are supposed to be Vipers. Quinton Johnson might be a Viper.
Sometimes it seems like this staff has no plan and that's how you get stuck playing Devin Gil at WILL.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:34 AM ^
Right, the fact that the staff hasn’t shared their plans with Diagonal Blue surely means they have no plans.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:37 AM ^
Viper seems like the 5th or 6th most likely position for Pesek-Hickson. It's not what Quinton Johnson was recruited for either. Are you criticizing this pick up just because you want to criticize something? I know you can't like the prospect of Velazuez being the only Viper in this class.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:59 AM ^
“Don Brown laid out a presentation and he basically compared me to (Jabrill Peppers),” Johnson said. “They want me to go the same route as Jabrill did and play at rover, and then work my way to that viper position.
“They said if I pick it up pretty fast I would go to viper, and if not I would start out at rover and then go to viper. They want me to be as similar to Jabrill Peppers as I can.”
November 27th, 2018 at 12:24 PM ^
Fair enough, but it seems like every, LB, Safety and "athlete" they recruit talks about playing Viper. It's the glamour position on this defense so it seems that everyone who's interested might get some encouragement. It reminds me of the Buck position when Durkin was here. Every LB and DE we recruited talked about playing it.
I find it hard to read that quote and not think that Plan A for Pesek-Hickson is safety.
November 27th, 2018 at 12:55 PM ^
The mods at 247 say Pesek Hickson is being recruited as a linebacker.
November 27th, 2018 at 1:02 PM ^
....which is different from a viper.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:14 AM ^
has he ever visited?
November 27th, 2018 at 10:18 AM ^
He took like a five day unofficial visit in February of 2017, which is why everyone thought he'd go to Michigan
November 27th, 2018 at 10:19 AM ^
IIRC he visited like 3 or 4 times on his own dime a year or two ago. When the 2019 class was still far off, he looked like one of the safest bets to be in it.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:53 AM ^
On one of Miami’s sites it said he was a Michigan legacy as well
November 27th, 2018 at 10:14 AM ^
After this recruiting cycle I believe the defense will be about the same as last year....hopefully with more speed from the defensive backs. (Solomon, hill, Perry, Hinton, Harrison - get all hopefully)
offense (if Patterson and bredneson stay) should be improved even more.
the sky is not falling people. We have ND, MSU and OSU at home. Away against a weaker PSU and Wisconsin. No reason not to be 9-2,10-1, or 11-0 going against OSU for the East.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:52 AM ^
And hopefully that dart thrower of a QB at osu will also move on.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:04 AM ^
I think that's a pretty safe assumption at this point. Heisman candidate, takes his team to the brink of (if not all the way there) the playoff after a near-disastrous second half of the season, I think his stock is sky high right now. He'd be insane not to go.
November 27th, 2018 at 12:15 PM ^
BPONE says you are a wishful thinker. He doesn't deal kindly to your type.
November 27th, 2018 at 12:01 PM ^
PSU is returning 17 starters next year.
November 27th, 2018 at 12:28 PM ^
For real, people doubting PSU next season have no idea what they're talking about. Should be the preseason #2 team in the Big Ten.
November 27th, 2018 at 2:54 PM ^
Yes they are. But once again lose the staple that won them a lot of games, kept them in games. And they still have franklin as of now. Michigan returns a minimum of 14 starters...I would take Michigan’s 14 returns over penn states 17.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:39 PM ^
The back up QB is supposed to be good.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:20 AM ^
Plan B guy for Deloach and/or Crouch?
November 27th, 2018 at 10:39 AM ^
Probably but its still a good Plan B
November 27th, 2018 at 10:43 AM ^
Or was DeLoach the plan B guy for Solomon? It's hard to tell when they're both flip candidates and Michigan was on Solomon longer. Although they're all listed as LBs, I don't think Crouch will play quite the same position.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:52 AM ^
Crouch is going to be probably 235-240 lbs. by the time his college career is done, and he's 6'2"/6'3". He would be an inside linebacker for us (MIKE/WILL). Solomon is supposedly around 185-190 lbs. I think he's probably a Viper prospect unless he hits a growth spurt.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:56 AM ^
Between Deloach and Solomon, I would want Deloach more. But that’s purely from seeing their verified 40 times (Solomon - 4.8; Deloach - 4.6) and being scarred from seeing Devin Gil getting repeatedly attacked on Saturday. I’m sure Solomon is a fine player as well.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:11 AM ^
I don’t know about 185 I’ve seen him listed between 190-200 and 6-1, he Deloach and lance Dixon all seem like similar body types/ players....out of the three I really liked Dixon’s tape
November 27th, 2018 at 4:52 PM ^
Your first sentence was the correct one. Sadly, I have scanned through the Solomon tapes looking for a 4**** LB...have not come close to finding him looking like one yet. DeLoach, on the other hand, is a football player...Michigan is going in home for him right???
November 27th, 2018 at 10:33 AM ^
This is the commit watch guy from yesterday
November 27th, 2018 at 10:49 AM ^
Really? This qualifies as "huge"?
November 27th, 2018 at 10:54 AM ^
Yeah, I think Evan might have some people coming after him after this one.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:54 AM ^
he is number 84 overall on ESPN, he would be our 4th best recruit according to espn rankings at a position of need, as well as being from a football powerhouse in Florida. I believe he's an underarmour all American as well. That makes it a pretty good pick up. go blue!
November 27th, 2018 at 10:36 AM ^
Can he cover crossing routes?
November 27th, 2018 at 10:44 AM ^
This is the new “can he play LT?”
But seriously, my new focus is speed with our recruits.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:46 AM ^
doesnt matter because the offense will just motion a back out of the backfield to the furthest outside receiver and he will be nowhere near the play anyway
November 27th, 2018 at 12:32 PM ^
Can he also help to develop the game plan so we cover/shutdown more than 1 crossing route?
November 27th, 2018 at 10:46 AM ^
I wish someone would commit already. We have been buckled up for 24 hours and its starting to chafe.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:46 AM ^
I’m not sure he’s related to Aubrey, but he did say F Michigan . . .
November 27th, 2018 at 12:19 PM ^
Along with millions of fans on Saturday.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:48 AM ^
Thanks for the encouraging news. Can't have too much speed on either side of the ball.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:53 AM ^
I agree, so as was noted above, I'm hoping that 4.8 time in the 40 is wrong in his profile. If that is correct, that's not too terribly fast compared to the other linebackers ranked similarly to him.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:48 AM ^
I need this ball right now.
November 27th, 2018 at 10:54 AM ^
Welcome!
Possibly related question:
I think way more of our defensive success these past three years has been because of Bush rather than Don Brown.
Who/how are we going to replace Bush, as I expect him to also go to the NFL?
November 27th, 2018 at 11:01 AM ^
Bush is a great player, but Browns defense has been great even without him. His first year (2016), Bush was a freshman and didn’t play much but Brown still had a top defense. Same at Boston College
As for replacing him, it will probably be a combination of Josh Ross and Jordan Anthony, with Devin Gill and Cam McGrone manning the Will spot
