That sounds good, I'll take that please!

No one really knows what he's going to do, but for the most part overall it should be a positive.  He came into camp and took the job.  The fact that Harbaugh named him the starter over a player who's now been here three years, and a guy who's been here two years is a big deal.  Harbaugh has said in the past he'll say the qb battle is over when someone comes in a wins it.

Since he did this with two weeks to go in camp that's a big deal.  I imagine we will see more production out of him then we saw last year.

If he can do that this year I'm fairly confident we will win a bunch of games.  Unfortunately, IMO the 3rd best team in the country is also in our division and we need to beat them to win the conference, but that will put us at least in the game, then anything can happen.  It won't guarantee a win, but will give us a good chance.

Honestly, John O’Korn seems like a good dude, but he murdered us against MSU and OSU. Those two games are probably wins with even average QB play. Might as well throw South Carolina into that mix  too.

The OL was bad, but O’Korn missed easy throws or threw bad picks.

I just remember sitting there watching open receivers watch as balls sailed over their head in the OSU game after the first quarter ... we HAD that game with an average MAC QB ... he was tragically bad.  Shea not that.

Jordan Ta'amu replaced the injured Shea at Mississippi and while not as good as Shea delivered some high powered offensive moments.  It is clear that Mississippi ran a prolific passing attack that delivered impressive offensive statistics.

I believe Harbaugh named Shea Patterson the #1 QB earlier than expected because Harbaugh recognized both that  Shea is the best option and it would be beneficial to run as many plays with the first string as possible to develop timing with the young receivers and allow the coaching staff a greater opportunity to determine how best to call plays with Shea.

We don't need elite on the O side of the ball right now.  All we need is a good QB and a solid O-line.  Do that along with our D, and you've got the wins.

QB will be adequate, at least.

Only concern: OL. And really just OTs. Hard to be a champion without all positions solid. We are in the “maybe zone”. Champion teams need to be 2 deep everywhere.  Or be lucky. We are neither.

Sorry. Truly I am. But Runyan and who? And #3 OT is a freshman?!!?

I’m totally excited for the season but I don’t know. It’s a big hole, the OT, and a lot of what ifs. Top teams don’t have any holes in their OL. We do have a top D everywhere. We do have very good rbs and receivers. Probably good to very good qb. Having all that is required, but not sufficient (without OL quality and depth), for being elite.

But I could be wrong. (Hope so.)

but I love this team and can’t hardly wait to watch them.

Im so ready for this season to start!! We have the opportunity to shut up so many opposing fanbases in their home field. Cant wait!!

Now to be the stick in the mud, but he threw for a ton of yards and several TDs against the 2-3 tomato cans on their schedule and then came back to Earth (relatively) against the better competition.

Now one could argue that it doesn’t matter because all of our QBs looked bad last year regardless of who they played. For the most part, you’re not wrong. I’m just trying to temper my own expectations.

I think MI crushes ND in week 1 and from there the train starts rolling.  MI gets better on offense in key positions of QB and O line this year.  I don't see anyone beating you guys until OSU and I think that's a crap shoot call right now. MI is really the only team in the BIG that's going to get noticeably better this year.  MSU offense is terrible and they did nothing to get better.  PSU loses huge production and a critical position coach. Wisconsin they have an O line but I don't see their qb beating you.  They won't run on you.  This could be the year for you guys.  Not sure I like saying that, but with the mess at OSU might as well cheer for Harbaugh this year.

Yeah Buckeye fan.  But love the big picture of cfb.  I was intrigued by all the people picking notre dame to beat you guys, and when I looked into it I just couldn't see that happening. They lose so much on offense and their qb is borderline terrible.  Then I started looking at MSU and PSU and it's the same story.  They're declining and you guys are rising.  I'm not confident that Meyer will be coaching by the time OSU plays MI so that leaves some room for MI to have a huge game at the shoe.  My big concern for MI is that they don't melt down if they do lose to ND.  Even if you guys lose to ND you can still make play offs if you keep the wheels from falling off the bus.

I'm optimistic, since the passing game can not be any worse than last season. If Shea can complete 60 percent of his passes and throw 2 TDs per game, and ony have one INT every other game, it would be huge improvement over last season.

I’m going to go ahead and get excited.

Forget the stats. Shea has “it.” That is what this team needs. Somebody with some leadership and toughness to push it forward during critical game moments.

There will be some rough moments pass blocking but Warinner will clean up the basic stunt whiffs and Shea will erase some other issues with his ability to move the pocket.

The D will dominate and take pressure off of the offense.

The rest will be history. I believe we have finally turned the corner.

These stats dont account for his legs either, which could be a really big deal. Moving the chains on the run will help us sustain drives and at the very least give our D a break. With our playmakers this year though, hopefully sustaining a drive by tucking and running on 3rd and 7 will lead to touchdowns instead of punts on 4th and 4. A running QB does make me nervous of health issues, but with our OL that might not matter.

To be fair, you need to remove O’Korn’s bias in numbers from the other two. O’Korn is responsible for 4 of our 5 losses, most of the INTs, and more.

I know this is supposed to make me feel better but a 59 QBR doesn't strike me as very good.....and he threw a lot of INT's. Hopefully he can tone that down ... we need the OL to finally step up here or we are through.
