MGoPoll: Do YOU want to see Maryland in the B1G?
I apologize if there is a real "poll" feature that I've overlooked. I'll just count the answers instead.
I've been going back and forth so I've been wondering what MGoUsers think.
We don't know about Rutgers or Georgia Tech or Chicago or whoever else is rumored...so I'll leave this to JUST Maryland.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plan and simple. Yes, No, or Don't Care. Do you WANT to see Maryland in the B1G Conference?
---Yes
---No
---Don't Care

No. No more expansion.
November 18th, 2012 at 11:01 PM ^
No. Horrible fit, pointless addition.

Only if we can move to a round robin.

November 18th, 2012 at 11:20 PM ^
Maryland? No.
Some combination of Maryland, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia in the B16 and ND to Conference USA? OK.
November 18th, 2012 at 11:22 PM ^
No, unless Rutgers is added. I assume the B1G wants an even # of teams, but I want MD to get RU.
November 18th, 2012 at 11:24 PM ^
yes if michigan state gets sent to the mac in exchange.
but seriously NO!
i've always liked pittsburgh. better fit geographically, similar quality academics, nice rival for psu
but i guess the pittsburgh market isn't big enough or east coast enough
November 18th, 2012 at 11:28 PM ^
could be changing the division names to North & South or East & West
N= UM, Wisc, MSU, NW, Iowa, Rut, Minn
S= OSU, Neb, PSU, Pur, Ind, BD, Ill
E= UM, OSU, PSU, MSU, Rut, Ind, MD
W= Neb, Wisc, NW, Iowa, Pur, Minn, Ill
Again, the name change would be the only good thing
November 19th, 2012 at 10:33 AM ^
I'd say no to Maryland, but if it does happen I really think UM and OSU need to be in the same division. That would be far better than simply changing the division names.

Hells to the no.

I am greatly opposed to this. Maryland and Rutgers may touch Pennsylvania, but are nowhere in the vicinity of the Big Ten Conference. Additionally, these teams produce pitiful attendance at football games and have lackluster universities in academic reference. Already Michigan only plays teams in the Leaders Division (not Ohio State) only twice every five years. More teams and Michigan will play these teams even less frequently. This is a terrible idea driven by money. I urge everyone to email all of the people listed below and tell them not to allow this. All of these people are regents or presidents for all of the Big Ten schools as well as Rutgers and Maryland.
They are not organized by school, rather one long list so a person can easily copy and paste.

No, Not Maryland . Maybe Rutgers and GT. But NOT Maryland, I dont remember them ever being very good. They really don't bring anything to help the Big 10
November 18th, 2012 at 11:49 PM ^
Yes. I think. I could see them turning a bit into a mini Oregon if they had the correct coach (not Rocking Randy Edsall).

Bo was right when he stepped down as AD after Penn St. joined in the Big Ten. Seriously, the presidents suck. $$$ > Tradition

Maryland is a glorified commuter school.

Why does the Big Ten need to expand? Can someone explain this to me? Why are we a more important conference with two more mediocre at best programs? How will this benefit Michigan or Michigan fans? Isn't the conference positioned just fine in terms of money and the imminent playoff system as is? What the fuck is this shit?
Fuck no.
No.
No.
Fuck no.
Fuck.

Maryland specifically: could be worse, we could be adding Rutgers.
November 19th, 2012 at 1:15 AM ^
You can't escape the B1G, Evan "The ACC is definitely a different style of game than the Big Ten, which is something I'm looking forward to" Smotrycz.
*cackles with glee*
November 19th, 2012 at 1:19 AM ^
Absolutely not. This seems like a move that's based on nothing but naked greed. Rutgers would be a less horrible addition than Maryland but still quite bad.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:05 AM ^
I am kind of excited to see what happens to the Big East after Rutgers and UConn leave. It'll be entertaining to watch the scrambling.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:02 AM ^
No, this is horrible and demeaning. I am very unhappy about this potential move.
November 19th, 2012 at 3:48 AM ^
Yes, I love the potential of what Maryland brings to the table, lesser sports included LAX, Soccer, Baseball, etc. (and maybe even hockey)

November 19th, 2012 at 8:19 AM ^
probably not.
November 19th, 2012 at 8:30 AM ^
Yes. I want to drive 30 minutes to watch Michigan football and MBB games. Would also learn how to watch lacrosse while Maryland curbstomps us for the next 5 years while we build up our MLAX program.
November 19th, 2012 at 8:39 AM ^
might add to our recruiting footprint and cant see how it would hurt the Big Ten brand. only positives i can see. the negitives are marylands butt ugly uniforms, the fact that both of those teams suck (usually), longer road trips. im not sure if adding these schools would help or hurt the Big Ten
November 19th, 2012 at 9:37 AM ^
don't want Rutgers either.
