Nick Baumgardner gets a lot of crap on this board and on Twitter from Michigan fans, and I've never really understood why.  I know he's a sparty, but you can never tell in his reporting, which is all you can ask.

Anyway, I liked this and I'm glad we have someone doing this level of analysis in the mainstream press instead of another puff piece or weak click bait stuff.  This article (with a few more charts and embeds) could have easily appeared on MGo.

Me too

This runs pretty close to my experience when I took my mom to games a couple of times.  She is not elderly, but she is handicapped.  I love the University, but their staff simply didn't know what it was doing with accessbiility.  Go ahead and call looking for tips and advice, but be prepared to be told something completely different when you arrive or when you look for help.

That's the MGoBlog

From the final

From the final paragraph:

"Other items for sale in the store include dress shirts; Dockers pants..."

Drone gets nixed

Looks like the part the OP coyly referred to when he said he wasn't allowed to share all the details just got canceled anyway.

The FAA found out Michigan was going to deliver the game ball with a drone and stepped in to stop it:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-09-19/michigan-s-pigskin-delivery-dr…

"The University of Michigan Wolverines plan to use an unmanned aircraft to deliver the game ball tomorrow before the kickoff against University of Utah at its Ann Arbor stadium, which holds the most sports fans in the U.S.

That was news to the Federal Aviation Administration, which has only approved limited drone operations."

Who doesn't?

Who doesn't?

What'd you do to get sent to

What'd you do to get sent to Bolivia?

And LSU, to be fair.  Plus he

And LSU.  Plus he was Top 100 at 247 and Top 150 at Rivals.

I can agree on OSU, but you

I can agree on OSU, but you don't think we have question marks at those spots?

I guess I'm thinking problems

I guess I'm thinking problems with OL+RB+TE+FS+DT vs. one spot on a playoff favorite to be filled with a universally regarded player everyone in the country wanted.

UM-MSU

All of this "UM and MSU will now decide the title" stuff seems really premature.  Let's not count out OSU in the B1G entirely.  I wish all our team's question marks had answers like JT Barrett...

Nothing good would come out

Nothing good would come out of scheduling a rematch with App State, but here we are.

Wow factor and whatnot...

Everton

I picked Everton because of Howard/Donovan a few years ago.

Whatever team you pick, pick one.  You might not be a die-hard who lives and dies with every shot off the post, but you'll know the players a little bit better and notice that team's news when it crosses your screen, which will in turn help you pick up the game and the subtleties of the league writ large.

RIP Bobby Womack

http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/jun/28/bobby-womack-dies-aged-70

RIP Bobby Womack, a talented musician and the vocalist on the funky track whose intrumental version was the old Michigan Replay theme song ("Across 110th Street").

Obviously not thread-worthy, but I thought some might be interested to know, since the song has been front page news a couple of times and was Brian/Ace's podcast theme for a couple seasons, IIRC.

Brian wrote on his revelation about the song a few years ago here: http://mgoblog.com/content/michigan-replay-funky

Actually the benefit of

Actually the benefit of moving it to America is that we've already done that, so there's no need to do it again.

no

no

I hear ya

I get that, but he said committed in the original article.  How do you give just "strong indications" and commit at the same time?

I don't know what's going on :/

Cautious Connie mode engaged.

That's years before my time,

That's years before my time, but I'm sure I would've enjoyed it.

No way

Me too!  I'll split the W with you.

Double post

Sorry, slow site load caused a double post.

Maybe no interest from him

At least one site that's good with this stuff says he's not reciprocating.  Also mentions Hoke is looking at at least 1 NFL candidate.

Bust out the Flight Aware?

I'm already anxious to read the coming Profiles in Heroism post on the front page.

Here's why

No

No.

I don't want a 14-team conference where we play Wisconsin and Penn State less in order to play Rutgers and Maryland more.

Also, cable companies pay the rights fees for BTN because their customers want to see UM-OSU football games and MSU-IU basketball games.  Nobody's paying to see Maryland-Rutgers matchups.  When do we go from bringing the B1G product to new markets to adopting the Big East and ACC product?

From the video in the link

From the video in the link Brian posted about his Georgia trip above.

Yep

Mine isn't much better.  She just knows there is a problem with the ether cable.

I tried pointing out that is more of a medical problem than a technological one, but it didn't take.

Wifeless

Wifeless, but I'm going back home to buy my mom a new router and help her set up her wireless network again.  Might even get a home-cooked meal out of it.  So its kind of like wife day, I guess.

Not harsh

No problem.  I googled it after I read that in her bio, because it seemed kind of random.

But it was just a joke.  I don't actually think she's a grifter.

Not for a while

Not for a while

MSU (x2) alum

Looked her up - she's a Michigan St and Mississippi St. alum.  She also claims to be a fan of both.

This whole thing might be one elaborate long con on her part.  Proceed with caution.

I rotate between

I rotate between three:

Cromartie's Kids

The Tim Tebow Wildcats

The Harrington Piano Trio

I've got nothing

I've got nothing, but this is a good query.

Yes

Yes

This is a really good point.

This is a really good point.

I was twelve when Terrell began at UofM, so I guess Braylon's #1 backstory just stuck in my mind more.  It certainly got a ton of coverage.

And I guess I still like the idea of earning it and giving it to a proven character/talented guy, but you do have history on your side.

Haha

.....in the hypothetical future where we've made that a legacy jersey.

Respectfully disagree

For me, and I suspect for many, the assurance that comes with bestowing that honor on someone who has proven their worth outweighs the confusion it wreaks on historical research done with spreadsheets.

A freshman may be a bust talent-wise or personally by the time they're done at UofM.  Imagine if Will Campbell got the #11, this year's possible breakout season aside.  Or if Justin Turner was given the #2.

People don't remember Braylon as #80.  He earned a shot at the jersey he wanted wearing that number, then made memories for Michigan fans as the latest #1.  Just because it is reserved for an upperclassman who has proven he deserves it doesn't mean it has to rotate yearly by always going to a senior.

I didn't read that much into

I didn't read that much into it, but it is an interesting idea.  Who knows for sure?

FWIW, I thought it meant more 'not this year, but we're totally open to it on a year-by-year basis.'

Wow

This would be a really cool moment.

Thanks for going there.

Thanks for going there.

Yeah, but that actually

Yeah, but that actually happened.

Free Press has it

Michigan safety Josh Furman is suspended by the football team due to his Washtenaw County 15th District Court case focused on three counts: domestic violence, assault and breaking and entering/illegal entry.

X-Rite

X-Rite was right across the street from where I grew up.  It is now gone, and their building in Grandville has been torn down, but the space is being filled by a new Cabela's.  Which is sweet.
