Proximity to Michigan alumni in NYC and Philly driving up demand, imho.

High Point isn't that big of a stadium, either (52K)

Glad he doing well off the field.  He's an excellent example of a student athlete, and hopefully he goes on to do great things.

*sigh* Losing Newsome, imho, resulted in the Iowa and OSU losses that year.  He was doing a great job at tackle.

FWIW, Buckeye recruiting guys Birmingham and Ellis switched their CBs to Michigan just now.

FWIW Brice Marich from Michigan Insider also just CBd Harrison to Michigan.

Also, Friday, Ellis from Eleven Warriors:

Andrew Ellis STAFF 2 NOV 2018, 9:47 AM

Can no longer submit crystal ball picks (and my ranking suddenly went from 3rd to like 30th) but if I could I’d put one in for Battle to Bama and Harrison to Michigan. Would also put in a flip pick for Nick Broeker to Ohio State.

S&P+ 22nd rated offense, 21st defense.

From poking around online, Hamler seems to be the key for their passing game.

PSU had problems running the ball against a good Iowa defense.  McSorley had a completion percentage under 50%.

Iowa's QB was catastrophically bad.

Franklin isn't a good situational coach.

FWIW Harrison is going to be in Columbus for OSU v. Nebraska, rather than in Ann Arbor this weekend.

Hand is making $480k with a $680k signing bonus this year.

He will make $540k next year, and if he continues to be productive will get a renegotiated extension worth minimum a few million a year.

He did just fine

Just bought a pair on Fanatics.  If you have an Amex, check your Amex Offers, I had a $15 off $100 discount for Fanatics.

Would also get an idea from your fiance to be.  My now wife is a detail person, and wanted a very particular type of setting that could only be obtained from a specific retailer due to patents.

This is good for European football. Real Madrid made the Champions League boring.

Lol.  Like Madrid isn't going to raid Chelsea for Hazard and Kante, or PSG for Mbappe.

Ridiculously safe.

Don't be a moron (public gross intoxication, illegal drugs, sexual harassment, or bad-mouthing of the Sheik), be careful of PDA.

05/29/2018 - 2:04pm Solidifying my decision to

Solidifying my decision to get the most fuel-efficient SUV out there when my current Kia Sorento dies (although it averaged 26 mpg on the highways from Maryland to the Outer Banks and back over the long weekent).  And no, am not going to get a ModelX for a car I drive over 25K miles a year.

Won't impact the 3rd car purchase a darn when my weekend car's lease is up.

05/03/2018 - 11:43am But at Receiving or Harper,

But at Receiving or Harper, it wasn't just scut.

I did subclavian and femoral lines as a MS3.  On call the med students were assisting on simple surgical cases.  Comparing my Troy Beaumont OB rotation to the Hutzel experience, I had hilariously few deliveries (thankfully, I DEFINITELY knew I wasn't going into OBG although I got to do/see a ton of Gyn procedures) compared to my classmates.  Children's is the best pediatric rotation you can get in the Midwest, let alone the state.

I learned a ton from those rotations.

05/03/2018 - 7:31am Wow

As a former Tartar/Warrior SOM grad....the writing has been on the wall for this, but it still is kind of shocking.

Part of the allure of Wayne for prospective medical students was the hands-on training one could have during your 3rd and 4th year rotations down at the DMC/DRH.  While I'm sure Henry Ford, St. John, Providence, and Beaumont would be happy to expand clinical teaching, I think this is a pretty big blow to WSUSOM's clinical reputation.

How can you say you are a Wayne grad if you haven't been running around sleep deprived in the hamster tunnels connecting Harper and Receiving?

04/26/2018 - 2:33pm Do you see a marked increase

Do you see a marked increase in oil consumption in the horizon?  Or massive decreases in oil production?  Because the IEA (International Energy Agency) doesn't: In fact, it projects continued decreased oil demand from both the industrialized and emerging economies as renewables and electric vehicles continue to become more economical.

The current increase in oil is a combination of a 2 year campaign of OPEC + Russian production cuts, plus a weakening US dollar (oil is priced in dollars, thus dollar goes down, oil price goes up).

04/20/2018 - 10:12am Apparently these things are

Apparently these things are 3300 sqft, $1.2 million.

New condos down the street, without views of the stadium, are 2800, $900K.

Not a huge premium based on the location

04/20/2018 - 9:48am Would put money down

Imagine the demand would be extremely high.

03/27/2018 - 12:26pm Teske's development this year

Teske's development this year has me pretty impressed.

Great rebounder and post defender, and he had that one B1G tourney game where he showed off both low post and mid-range jumpers.

If he puts together another offseason like that, he's going to be a pain in the arse for the rest of the B1G.

03/09/2018 - 2:09pm Otherwise the pain, time, and

Otherwise the pain, time, and cost of medical school/internship isn't all that attractive versus the rewards these days

Eh.  Find another field where you are guaranteed $140K+ (and much more likely to start in the $200Ks) upon finishing residency.  Regardless of how well you finished in your class, regardless of what school you went to.

Is change coming?  You bet.  But as long as you plan accordingly, current medical students will be fine.

03/09/2018 - 2:05pm Primary care is soon to be

Primary care is soon to be replaced by Dr. Amazon, Dr. Google and Dr. Watson from IBM

This is coming to specialists already.

My wife is a PCP for Kaiser.  Retinal exams and ECGs are interpreted remotely already.

One of our friends went to a "Future of Medicine" conference in DC, and the advances in image interpretation hooked to AI makes it very likely that pathology and radiology will very much be on the chopping block in the near future.

03/08/2018 - 5:11pm Toys R US was doomed

You are a business that has been targeted by Amazon on the Internet side, and Walmart on the brick and mortar side.

You are doomed.  Death by the convenience of buying online, or death by the largest retailer the world has ever seen.

Combine that with the fact that kids are playing less and less with toys and more and more with electronics/video games/software...

This wasn't Brandon's fault.

A lot of the glamour presentations (Supercars, luxury cars) now seem to occur in LA or Europe.

NAIAS still has model presentations, but more of the 'everyday' models.

For OP, may want to check out some of these pubs on:

10/06/2017 - 10:18pm Nice.  I have Elmer T. Lee

I have Elmer T. Lee neat in a glencairn.

Bought Kentucky Owl Rye today, but it is going in the bunker for an epic high-rye bourbon tasting over Thanksgiving (Owl, Handy, Bookers Rye).

09/26/2017 - 2:27pm Sure, with a NCAA investigation

This is the FBI and DOJ.  And per the US attorney's presser, it's an ongoing investigation.   We are talking prison time for those found guilty.

Do you REALLY think one of these assistants WON'T flip for a lighter sentence?  Or these shoe execs?

This is going to get ugly.  The FBI has wiretaps and already one informant.

The NCAA is going to be forced to do something, or this becomes a judicial matter.

09/19/2017 - 5:29pm Sounds like he wants to go

Sounds like he wants to go business.

One of my wife's friends went to Penn; do not know if she was Wharton v. their Arts and Sciences, but she went to work for a boutique private equity company in Silicon Valley straight out of undergrad, made partner, and retired early at 35.

UMich v. Penn (small school in Philly) v. Brown (small school in a small city, but near Boston) are so different, your son's feelings as to where he would fit in should be the deciding factor.

09/13/2017 - 11:26am I also thought that with the

I also thought that with the Mgoblog data dump y'all did a while back, showed that your average Mgoblog user had a 6 figure household income.

So while not for everyone, there would definitely be a market for this kind of product amongst your readership.

Then you're SOL.

For a midsize jet, you are looking at $2-3K per flight hour.  About two hours of flight time to/from ORD to SCE, or 4 hours total.  Add fuel, taxes, catering.

Would guess $14K for an entire jet?

09/12/2017 - 12:49pm Prices aren't terrible tbh.

Prices aren't terrible tbh.

$1300 for a same day round trip ticket from Chicago to Penn State, transportation from airport to game included.

Similar pricing as some of the shuttle seats that Jetsmarter, etc. have

Brandon Graham (DE for the Eagles) was the big winner for UMich Alumni in the NFL today; 2 sacks, strip fumble on Kirk Cousins that a teammate returned for a TD, a TFL.

09/08/2017 - 4:13pm FWIW

JournOList DID exist, and there appeared to be a coordinated effort between left-leaning media members across multiple print sources to at least influence the dialogue on the Reverend Wright controversy to Obama's benefit.

I think the thing that irritates the craps out of middle of the road folks is when editorial bloviating enters the news reporting realm. On both sides.

09/07/2017 - 11:19am Probably due to the

Probably due to the cheerleaders and/or booze commercials.

The most conservative country I've been to in ME was Qatar, stayed in the older part of town (closer to the aiport for our butt-crack of dawn flight out the next AM), was really a different experience.

09/06/2017 - 6:07pm TRU is fighting multiple

TRU is fighting multiple headwinds.

1) Debt load

2) Brick and mortar retail problems:  Wal-Mart and Amazon/the Internet have both peeling away customers

3) Less customers:  There has been a dramatic shift in what kids play with.  Less physical toys, more software based.  See how major toy companies like Hasbro, Mattel have been slumping.  Hell, even Lego announced layoffs for the first time in decades

4) Downloadable software:  No need to hunt for a video game, since you can download it from Steam/Playstation/X-box.

Brandon did a craptastic job as UM AD, but I don't think you can blame him one year on the job for TRU being in the shitter.
