RIP Norm MacDonald and Fuck Cancer

Underrated moment of that clip is Ken Griffey just shaking his head.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
Ken Griffey is known for not appreciating great comedy sometimes:

That really sucks. I was a big fan of his style of humor.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:17 PM ^
Such a loss. Always unpredictable and hilarious.
My girlfriend's first real gift to me was tickets to see Norm live at Royal Oak Music Theater in September 2019. Amazing show, extra glad I got to see him live in maybe my last chance to do so. (She's now my fiancee.)
September 14th, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
Extra points b c she's now your fiance. Oh can only give one.
September 14th, 2021 at 5:27 PM ^
Take care of her, man.

I remember when I met my wife - before that I felt incomplete.
now I’m finished
September 14th, 2021 at 3:18 PM ^
A great comedian and by all accounts a good guy to work with. And his passion for name-dropping Frank Stallone into bits continues to crack me up.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:21 PM ^
It was amazing he lasted as long as he did on SNL when his whole schtick was to go for the awkward, not low hanging joke.
He revolutionized the game for so many standups, particularly after SNL.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:20 PM ^
Norm's, 'Based on a True Story' is a hilarious read, I highly recommend it. Definitely one of the great comics of all time. The dude could talk about anything and make it funny.
RIP, Norm...
September 14th, 2021 at 3:20 PM ^
Oh no. He was one of the funniest people alive as far as I'm concerned. I absolutely loved his Bob Uecker stories on Letterman. And, though it's mentioned above, I can't resist saying how great the moth joke was.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:29 PM ^
Easily one of the funniest people on the planet. His version of Burt Reynolds on Celebrity Jeopardy (my avatar) is a Venn Diagram of so many of my favorite things. RIP Norm.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
He had a hilarious extended bit on battles with cancer that feature some great dark humor like referring to someone's battle with cancer as cowardly instead of brave.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
Bummed a cigarette off him in a Hartsfield smoking lounge on the way back to school from spring break in 1998. He was the same cool, mellow, sardonic guy in person.
Rest in peace, Norm.
P.S... his Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee episode with Seinfeld was the best and funniest episode of the series. Highly recommend.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Well, this just sucks. And so does cancer.
Fuck off, you evil chunk of shit disease...
RIP, Norm - your comedy was gold, and you'll be missed.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:37 PM ^
Fuck Cancer
September 14th, 2021 at 3:40 PM ^
RIP Norm. You were often funny, you sometimes bombed huge, but I always loved it.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
NO FUCKING WAY!!!!! I didn't even know he was sick. I am so bummed. He was one of my favorite comedians. So unique, so brilliantly funny. Man this really makes me sad
September 14th, 2021 at 4:00 PM ^
Big thumbs up for opening with a Norm joke, even if it wasn't your intention (maybe it was).
RIP, Norm. I'm not generally drawn to fawning over celebrities, but I might have given a pinky finger to have a beer with Norm.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
Oh fuck man! Dude was funny as it gets. RIP
September 14th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
RIP Norm. Some great mentions above. Also the Conan with Cortney Thorne Smith.
Chairman of the Bored.
September 14th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
Holey crow, Chairman of the Board is rated 2.3/10 on IMDB. Apparently, MacDonald cannot withhold the truth.
September 14th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
I still crack up at his ‘not the *real* heroes’ teacher bit. RIP Norm
September 14th, 2021 at 3:59 PM ^
Damn. Didn't even know he was ill.
I feel the need to watch Dirty Work again.
September 14th, 2021 at 4:00 PM ^
Norm was one of the elite comic minds. Sharp wit and sharp mind
September 14th, 2021 at 4:02 PM ^
Such a huge and shocking loss. I was just looking the other day to see when he was going to be performing live by me again and it looked like he had an East Coast tour coming up. I'm glad I did have the chance to see him live a half dozen times. I've been watching some of the compilations of his best SNL or late night appearances over the past few weeks on YouTube. Probably my 3 favorite things of his are 1) the Charles Woodson/OJ Simpson joke 2) when they made the mistake of letting him perform at the White House Press Correspondents Dinner during the Clinton administration 3) either the moth joke or when he repeatedly eviscerates Carrot Top while poor Courtney Thorne Smith is trying to promote the movie she made with Carrot Top on Conan:

His Bob Sages roast performance was legendary
September 14th, 2021 at 4:02 PM ^
"Hitler. The more I learn about that guy, the more I don't like him." -- RIP Norm.
September 14th, 2021 at 4:05 PM ^
Norm to me was the GOAT comedian. This is a huge, huge blow.
September 14th, 2021 at 4:38 PM ^
Really bummed to see this.
Remember seeing him in AA back in the day. He was recovering from the flu iirc. He came out and basically said "I'm sick and I have no material" and encouraged people to shout topics at him. Completely random and hilarious.
September 14th, 2021 at 4:49 PM ^
Very sorry to hear that.
His late night updates were great, second only to Dennis Miller’s.
September 14th, 2021 at 4:52 PM ^
Just this on my news feed. This is a shocker. Coming of age in the 90's Norm was the man. The comedy world has suffered a tremendous loss. RIP Norm, and thanks for the countless laughs. Apetits.
September 14th, 2021 at 5:02 PM ^
Just spent 2 hours on youtube. What a legend. RIP
September 14th, 2021 at 5:22 PM ^
Watch his standup from just at the start of the pandemic. He did a live show in March 2020 in the Bay Area just when things were closing down. It might be the last performance footage out there. He was hilarious as per usual. So many people just know his SNL work and movies, but his standup was A++++.
I was planning to go to the next show he does out East, and it's a painful realization to know that will never happen. A small part of me still hopes it's some kind of performance art fakeout...
September 14th, 2021 at 5:04 PM ^
RIP Norm
Thanks for all the laughs, you were great.
September 14th, 2021 at 5:29 PM ^
Or so the Germans would have us believe.
September 14th, 2021 at 6:06 PM ^
I'll never forget his set on a Comedy Roast when he got up and intentionally told the absolutely lamest jokes to lampoon the whole thing. The pros on the dais were losing their minds.
September 14th, 2021 at 7:28 PM ^
Is this what you are talking about
September 14th, 2021 at 9:57 PM ^
My respect for Bob Saget went way up the first time I saw this ... He was like the only one who immediately saw how funny it was.
September 14th, 2021 at 6:25 PM ^
RIP, Norm. He was funny as heck, and part of the last great era of SNL.
September 14th, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
This one hurts. Were not seeing another Norm Macdonald in our lifetime. I just watched all of his OJ Weekend Update segments on Sunday. Im going to miss that delivery and dry wit a whole lot.
This one is for you Normie....
The only time OJ has something on his mind is when he's wearing his lucky stabbing hat!
September 14th, 2021 at 6:51 PM ^
My favorite Norm story is why he was fired from SNL. The guy didn't give a fuck, and that is very refreshing. RIP, a true legend
September 14th, 2021 at 7:00 PM ^
Fuck cigarettes!
Norm spent decades joking about how hard it was to quit and sadly only succeeded in quitting after he got the cancer diagnosis a decade ago.
He is one of the millions across the globe whose life likely would have been saved if e-cigarettes were around for his earlier attempts at quitting.
September 14th, 2021 at 7:07 PM ^
Dirty Work great movie
Crack Whore
And now the fake news
September 14th, 2021 at 7:20 PM ^
The more I learn about Norm, the more I care for him.
September 14th, 2021 at 8:03 PM ^
We were born on the same day. He was a great comedian.
September 14th, 2021 at 8:19 PM ^
Awful. Too young. F cancer. We’ll always have Celebrity Jeopardy and his hilarious Burt Reynolds impressions. RIP Norm.
September 14th, 2021 at 8:30 PM ^
Man, I love Norm. This sucks
September 14th, 2021 at 9:00 PM ^
I worked with him a little. Always a great guy…. Comedic giant.
Huge loss.
