I really don't think the ND decision was a result of the choice b/t Michigan and Purdue/MSU. I think it was a choice b/t Michigan and Tex/Bama/OU/FSU (a rotating big time team). They realized that even a pseudo-quasi conference committment-ish substance won't allow for them to play as national a schedule as they'd like. Now, I think that pretty fucking short sighted considering that the ND-M game gets more national attention than many of their committments (basically all of them but USC), but w/e you can't trust dem catholics. #gordongee |

It seems to be that Nintendo is dead in the water as well. The WiiU seems to be a flop and there just aren't many games with a WOW factor for that system anymore. Where is the next SMB? Zelda? Metroid? MarioKart? I'd love to get a PS4, but there just aren't enough kids friendly games for my kids to play. and the WiiMotes are really simple for the kids to pick up and learn to use. In a perfect world, Nintendo would get rights to NCAA, Star Wars and Batman games. That way my kids could play and I could as well, without having 2-3 consoles under the TV. |

this could be the best thing from Michigan's perspective- a decent PSU will be good enough to steal wins from the rest of the division but probably not M. One less crater of a program is good for the B10. a crater of a program in Happy Valley does no one any good. |

This is a VERY interesting theory. and I agree about the quality of the MSU team: they will be good this year but this will be their last chance at a 10+ win season, IMO. They have a very good D and a returning RS Sr QB. Solid STs. the rest of the O is a hot mess, but I think they will be 9-10 W team, w/o diving into their schedule. |

I'm not sure when he started there (IIRC, he was there in the early 90s, left and came back)... but OSU never rejected a student with a HS degree until about 1997 I believe. Theyy would admit a TON of freshmen, watch a crap ton wash out after a year having taken their tuition. these days, everything has become more competitive. every school in the nation has raised avg ACT/SAT scores - there are more students applying and attending college. For the bigger schools, common app has helped as well (tho IDK if OSU is on the common app). Easier to apply, more students to apply, better pool of kids to accept. |

AFA academic fit goes... i'm not sure we can reasonably get more divergent than Neb and Johns Hopkins. i mean, LCC and Oxford U have more differences, but let's not go down the yellow brink road. WTF is the difference b/t letting ND in for non-football and JHU for Lax only? If the B10 is willing to do this, we might as well have let ND in as a non-football member. Except ND brings nothing to this conference when the football team is excluded. I suppose we might as well pick thru the top universities in reaseacrch dollars and just send out recruiting offer letters to see who has interest. MIT CIT WASHU CWRU U Rochester CarMellonU Tufts RIT RPI Fuck it- admit the whole SUNY system into the B10 and have each campus compete in different sports- Stoney Brook in Baseball, Albany in lax, Buffalo in football, etc. all this is is a grab at gaining the highest market share of federal research dollars. |

well, if anyone didn't already know this, I'd say adding johns hopkins to the B10 is all the evidence you need that expansion has nothing to do with 1)football, 2)TV sets, 3) academic "fit"
it's all about research dollars from the fed government. these moves are all Billion dollar moves and anyone thinking it's about the tens of millions from TV, football or anything else is being small minded |
