If Denard becomes the starter...

Submitted by corncobb on

As I sit at my computer and relentlessly check the board for new topics and all things Michigan, I thought I would start a thread with a positive tone rather than the dong-punching rubbish of the past week.

There is plenty of speculation as to whether Denard will become the starter this season. What is not in question is the fact that he is one of the fastest players on the team, and that he has the potential to take it to the house every time he touches the ball.

I wonder how many times we will hear a call similar to this after Denard shows his defense shredding skills:

And Now Deep Thought, by Matt Millen...

"If you look real close there's a jock strap on the field and it belongs to (insert defender's name here)." -Matt Millen

Starter or not, having a full year under his belt will make DRob a better all around player, and an exciting piece of the puzzle in 2010. Go Blue.

Sorry fellas. I'm sorry for 'clogging up' cyberspace talking about one of our premier players. I was under the impression talking about the team was okay. I guess I will make another highlight video of the same 16 clips only to a different song to keep things moving freely.

Thanks.

I understand where you guys are coming from, and I'm not offended at all. I was watching the replay of ND/UofM on BTN and still have a deeply seeded hatred of Matt Millen.  I have also read 800 posts on Denard being the starter and it became the perfect storm. I don't know how to take MGoBeatdowns, either, so let's hug this out.

Next time I will fabricate a lie through a tweet!       /s

The funny thing is that I wasn't even going to read this thread because it was clearly going to be redundant, but when it got to 40+ comments, I thought there might be something interesting here...

So I opened up the thread only to find my name in 4 or 5 of the comments.

So here's my opinion:

I don't put Frank's Red Hot on anything.

The fact that Millen is assigned to cover any sport in the Michigan market shows how clueless the TV industry is.  Plus he cost me a week of giving my girlfriend backrubs after I bet her an angry mob would storm the press box by the middle of the 4th quarter.  Stupid apathetic Lions fans, too lazy to even lynch Satan.

As I was driving home today, I thought I heard Matt Derry (during an update coming from commercial to Valenti/Foster) say that Denard will be the starter against UCONN.  Can someone confirm this?  Did anyone else hear this?

Isn't it sufficent that the lions are still feelin the effects of he who shall not be named? Not to mention the fact that we have to listen to the all time worst gm in the history of sports commentating as an expert on Michigan broadcasts?

75% of the posts are repeats our terrible topics.  Stuff is reposted because unlike you some of us have lives where we can't constantly check the site, and stuff gets buried. Besides, I'd rather talk about DRob than read a thousand comments on how the seasons doomed because TWolfs out.

In response to the comments about Denard being announced the starter, I highly doubt that its more than educated speculation.

RR said that there was going to be a scrimmage in the Big House tomorrow, with that being the first time since the spring game that the players have been in game situations.

I would be very surprised if RR made a final decision before that scrimmage and over 2 weeks prior to kickoff.

I'm guessing that someone inside the program leaked that info based on what they have seen. And although that is telling...its far from definitive.

If we know anything about RR, its that we won't know who the starter is until Sept. 4th. Why would he let the world know now and let UCONN prepare for it? He's a smart man and knows that it is harder to prepare defensively when you don't know who your opponent's starting QB is going to be. Let's calm down and wait and see. I realize that is easier said than done, but we simply aren't going to know until then.

Denard starting against UConn is beginning to make more sense to me. Tate has been "banged up" all spring long and his commitment has been called into question by his own senior teammates. We know Denard has improved his passing and would run the shit out of our offense.

You just finished watching 09 Notre Dame on BTN didn't you.  Me too, watching the losses even though they are painful.

Edit: Damn it, if I would have just read the comments first I would have known my input was completely unnecessary.

how many people thought that henne would be our starter in the 1st game??? myself and i believe others probably believed all through out fall camp that gutierrez was going to be the starter come game one... and then all of sudden out runs henne to start the game... my point is no one knows who the starter is going to be until rich rod says so or until we see who runs out with the starters for the 1st drive against uconn... these ass fucks in the media are just trying to stir the pot by using 2nd and 3rd hand info or taking what dinardo says seriously... the starter should be whoever gives us the best chance to win...

Not to be a nit picking jerk, but Gutierrez was pretty much in the running to be the starter until he suffered an injury.   A torn labrum actually.   He'd been slated to start the season opener.

have stated that a injury changed everything and thats how henne became the starter... but my overall point was that everyone thought it was going to be QB A but it ended up being QB B, injury or not... for myself at the time living in windsor i wasn't "in the know" of everything michigan and i got most of my info from the freep and detnews back then... so when henne walked out there i was freaking out because i thought the season was going down the shitter...

the board's Lions fans.  It is one thing to mention Millen, it is even worse to show an image of him.

That said, if Denard starts every game, I think he will probably have 800 yards rushing with multiple jock-dropping jukes.
