Upper deck, and then take the lower bowl and make the rows wider so we can actually have some leg room. It would result in fewer seats in the bowl, but the upper deck would make up for that.

My point is that putting the solar panels in the road itself makes no sense. Putting them above the road, I can see. There are also several other problems.
I like the idea of heated roads, but to think that we can power them only off of local solar cells just doesn't make sense--the math doesn't add up.
|6 weeks 23 hours ago||There are many reasons solar||
There are many reasons solar roadways are a terrible idea. Basically, the math never works out--even in ideal situations, you will be pouring in tons of money and getting nearly nothing out. A brief example: cars necessarily block sunlight from the panels, so traffic pretty much ruins the whole idea.

If you know that you want to be a lawyer (especially if you want to do a specificaly lucrative field, like patent law), then a T14 law school like Michigan is a great idea. But if you're just investigating your options, then there are other, less costly ways to bide your time.
I loved my time in law school, and I love my job, but I also knew that I wanted to be a patent lawyer from undergrad and acted in accordance. I wouldn't recommend law school to starry-eyed seniors looking to delay the real world, but I'm not nearly as down on law school as most people are. Just know what you're getting yourself into.

The only real pressure we kinda have is that because Ford is one of our clients, we get one of the discount plans, so many of the attorneys here got Fords. When my lease comes up, I may go to a Ford Fusion.

Let them do it, and when they fail, we can hold it up next to "In The Big House" as an example of why you never mess with The Victors.
In other news, Pop Evil has a new album out, and the song "Trenches" isn't bad.

I'm with you. I liked RR, and after we fired him, I hoped we would hire a coach based on their merits and ability to work with the spread players we had, and that we didn't fall into the trap of hiring someone because they have a tenuous connection to a bygone era and no desire to move into the 21st century.
For my own opinion, we need to stop caring so much about "tradition," at least when it gets in the way of progress.

I wouldn't mind hearing more Varsity. We didn't play it much in the MMB when I was in school, which is a shame because it's a perfectly servicable fight song. Nowhere near The Victors, of course.

As an actual Greek (as in my parents were born in Greece), I've never really liked the Greek System. Somehow, I'd mention that I was Greek in a conversation, and instantly people ask "oh, what fraternity are you in?" My response was "no, like My Big Fat Greek Wedding." Which, incidentally, is the best and most accurate representation of Greek-American culture I've seen to date. Go watch it.

I'd like to keep him. He didn't become a bad coach overnight, and there clearly were off-the-field problems with this team that were outside Nuss's control. With another year (and a competent OL coach), he can make our offense strong.

Well, she doesn't have any prior head coaching experience, and her recruiting is a bit dodgy, but she does well with the alumni. Do we know if she prefers the spread or pro-style? Obviously, I'd like Harbaugh or MIles first, but if we have to go outside the Michigan Man tree, we could do worse.

Winning fixes everything. After the disaster of 2013, people want to see good football. Put that on the field, and Brandon can charge whatever he wants.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Time for my predictions||
Next year's schedule is a gauntlet, and to me the quality of the wins will matter much more than the number. A 9-3 with blowout losses to ND, OSU, and MSU is a lot worse than 8-4 with close losses to NW and PSU and wins over OSU and MSU. What I want to see is improvement on all sides of the ball.
Realistically, I think we'll go 8-4 with a win over ND and one of MSU/OSU and close losses to MD and PSU. The 2-1 record over our rivals and stellar improvement in our offense buys Hoke one final season to win a B1G championship.

I don't like class-based seating, but I'm digging the attendance points idea. Reward the people who come early and to all the games. As long as it's by section (a la basketball) and not by individual seats, I think they've got something here.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||I remember when we couldn't||
I remember when we couldn't fill up Crisler. Our basketball team sucked, student sections were empty, and even with general admission, the arena didn't fill up until halftime. Cheap tickets and free food incentives didn't really do much.
Then our basketball team got good. We expanded the student section to a second lower bowl, and then we filled up several upper deck sections. Ticket prices increased, but Crisler still sold out. Even crappy games like Nebraska had great attendance.
I honestly don't care about RAWK, ads, expensive food, or racking up points to get a free T-shirt. If I'm going to leave my HDTV, beer, and warm house to watch a game in person, there's got to be something good on the field. Put a good football team on the field, and you'll get the students to show up, pay hundreds of dollars, and stay for the whole game.

I believe that Dave Brandon values money more than antiquated culture. He knows wins = money, and he'll do what he has to do to get those wins. If Dave Brandon truly wants fans to continue to buy tickets, heads will roll soon. We'll see just how much Dave Brandon values money.

I think all of the B1G head coaching jobs are safe, assuming Eichorst is being truthful about keeping Pelini for another year. Looking at the power conferences, I think Washington and Texas are the mostly likely to fire their coaches, leaving open two very nice spots. Charlie Strong is itching to jump to a bigger program, and I think Texas gives him the nod. Narduzzi could replace Strong at Louisville.

Get rid of Borges and look to Stanford's coordinators. If Shaw leaves for the NFL as many predict, he's got some staff that might be looking for a new home. Wouldn't mind looking to more pass-happy spread offenses like Oklahoma State or Texas Tech for coordinators either. Key is the new OC has to be aggressive and adaptive, two traits I don't really see in Borges.

The Music School has been in a big fundraising campaign for the past several years, with some focus on the MMB and some on the North Campus facilities. Once that is done, there might be some money for funding more away trips. With ND off of the schedule, that frees up one away trip right there.
Then again, maybe we use that money to renovate Revelli.
