Strange timing

Why not wait to see what the coaches have to say at the BBQ. I hope this doesn't turn out to be another Jonathon Hankins situation where we slow play a talented instate kid who plays a huge position of need and ends up playing as a freshman for a hated rival (and yes I realize Hankins issue was not grade related)

Allen Trieu said on WTKA this morning

that Scout just finished ranking the FB's so he may get a similar ratings bump on Scout.

T-Rob will not be offered a 5th year

so that basically leaves 4 outside WR's.  We need 2 more.

We need 2 DT's and 2 WR's

add those to Wormley and Diamond and call it a day.  Pass on RB and QB this year as we aren't going to get any of the highly rated guys unless something crazy happens with Dunn this weekend.

Has it been confirmed that Talbott is done?

I know it's been rumored but I had not seen confirmation.

He will eat your dick like Hobiyashi

Edit: damn it- Anyone know how to embed this?

Sorry but perception matters, particularly

in recruiting.  Sure the overall record is what matters most to Brandon, RR and the team.

BUT in the minds of many, particularly recruits it matters a lot when you win and who you beat.  For example, if we beat Iowa with Tim Jernigan present it might mean more in his recruitment than a win against Illinois a month later.

Not to mention the fact that it does seem like RR's teams ride momentum both up an down so a win this saturday might increase confidence and thus pay dividends down the road, while a loss could do the oppposite.

I'm hoping they are able to redshirt Horford

this year to spread out the big men a little more and to give him a chance to bulk up.  We may not have that luxuary but it would be nice for ballance sake.

The standard line in poker is there is a sucker

at every table and if you look around and don't see one, you are the sucker.  Hopefully that doesn't hold true here and there are other cream puffs in the lineup.

Totally Disagree

This game is huge.  Lose and everyone will beleive that we are headed to our 3rd straight Big 10 slide (including possibly recruits).  Win and it buys RR a lot of goodwill and patience.

Tim Hardaway Jr. needs to start. Period.

Here's the lineup I'd like to see:

PG:  Morris

SG: Novack

SF: Hardaway Jr.

PF: Smote

C: Morgan/McLimans

Douglas first off the bench at PG and SG.  Christian backs up at PF and Vogrich fills in at SG and SF.  Whoever doesn't start at C between Morgan and McLimans backs up there.  Horford redshirts.

An NIT berth would be a huge accomplishment

for this team but it doesn't seem likley at this point.  So much youth and inexperience its hard to expect many of them to develop right away.  See e.g., 2010 UM Secondary.

How about Michigan Swimming?

And all the gold medalists that have attended?

Sweet- more Wide Receivers!

I know we are recruiting many defensive players but I won't be satisfied until we have signed SEVERAL more stud db's and lb's.  I would frankly prefer that the rest of the class be on the defensive sife except for 1 or 2 OL's.

Is it really that shocking a proposition

that we would lose a ton of players to transfer if RR was fired?  Didn't we just see the same thing when lloyd retired?

Please tell me you are joking

I will never understand this attitude.  I hope Sparty losses every game they play and I feel the same about OSU.  Who gives a crap if our loss "looks better"?  We aren't playing for an NC.  For better or worse, our record will speak for itself

what is the goal

of your post?  I'm not sure what's more useless, the repetitive posts about Denard, the defense, etc. or the repetitive criticisms by you, Magnus and others about said posts.

Its like watching punk loitering teenagers against grumpy old men yelling at them to get off their lawn.    Its impossible to root for either side.

ummm- isn't that the definition

of square one?

"There are 17 freshmen defenders on the roster.."

Agreed. I'm not sure I would have gladly taken this start

Sparty was the most important game on our schedule for numerous reasons:  1) It reinforces all the crtiques that UM is finese and Sparty is tough, 2) Sparty could easily make the Rose Bowl now which is nauseating in itself, 3)  the Sparty love fest will go into warp drive, 4) perception is often reality in recruiting and the perception locally is that State's future is now as bright or brighter than ours, 5) we play at MSU next year with a serious chance for them to take 4 straight, and 6) I just can't stand the idiot spartan fans.

We are a 7-8 win team going into the bowl

Always were. Nothings changed. This is and will be a very loooooooong and painful rebuilding.

My guess is he's going on a free trip

to watch MSU.  Given his background there is virutally no chance this kid ever goes blue.

Les Miles is Wayne Fontes

the only difference is that even Wayne Fontes can win a title in College Football if everything goes right beacuse there is no play-offs and no home field advantage in the post-season.

I was just about to ask the same thing

Time to change the Cass Tech team name to the Lollipop Guild

I am still having flashbacks to that game

Beat State and I will rest easy

for the first time in the RR era.

totally agree

I am at the point where I dvr the games and fast forward through many of the defensive series because I can't bear to watch the Groundhogs Day disaster over and over again.

Today's game suggest nothing we didn'tn already know

which is that our offense can win any game on our schedule and our defense can lose any game on our schedule.  Nothing has changed.

So much for all the Dr. Phillips glee

from earlier this week.  This sounds pretty bad and I really hope none of our recruits were involved.

I am always amazed when these questions come up

like there is any other answer than F No! I would be perfectly happy to see Sparty lose every game every year from now till the end of time.  Why would I ever want them to win?

I thought he did a pretty good job as an announcer

sounded a bit like his dad on occassion which is not a bad thing.

Not to mention waiting till after the NCAA

releases its findings.

How exactly did we need it?

Stop spreading this nonsense.  Only in fairy land did Devin "need" to play.  I wonder how you will feel in 2 years when Devin is pissed off because he is still not starting or we have a full blown QB controversy.

We can easily lose any game we play

the rest of the year (including at Purdue) so I hope no one on the team is complacent.  Until we start winning some Big Ten games this is no reason to be confident playing any Big Ten team.

Its funny

because its true.

Yep. RR talks funny and he isn't from the Bo tree

therefore he is terrible.  Our fanbase has as many close minded idiots as any other.

Its disgusting how much Danielson and Vern

are rooting for Alabama.  They so don't want their number 1 darlings to go down its really pathetic.

Tate looked better

just sayin.

Tate should be 2

It seems as though RR put Devin ahead of him more as a discipline thing/motivation thing.  RR admitted Devin was as polished out there today.  If there is a game on the line I will be pretty frustrated if Devin goes in before Tate.  We need as many wins as possible and Tate gives us the better chance of getting wins right now.

Mrs Gallon is that you?

Are you seriously going to pull out the "you aren't in practice so you aren't allowed to make judgements about anything you see on the field" crap?  If that's the standard for commenting then why do we even have a fan forum?  By that logic every decision every coach in America makes is above critique because the fans aren't in practice.

I've seen plenty of Gallon to know that he struggles at returning punts.  Even if I hadn't seen Dileo today I would want to see someone else besided  Gallon in there to see if they can do the job better when it counts.

Devin's the one who should've redshirted

I really don't see the point at all in DG seeing the field unless absolutely necessary but I guess Tate was regressing on and off the field and RR did not feel he deseerved to be 2nd string.  I just hope this doesn't hurt us 2-3 years down the road with someone getting fed up and transferring.

Well so then your sentence

nuliffies the first two right?  The contract was never signed so we really aren't scheduled to play ND until 2017.  That may have been the plan but it seems as though that plan may change.

Academic Issues

I've supported RR from the beginning but this to me has been RR's biggest failing.  Its hard to say exactly who we might have picked up had RR not pursued these kids with borderline academics, but I think its clear that we could have had other solid defensive players in this class who did not have grade problems.  The DD recruitment was even more non-sensical given his legal troubles and the MAJOR academic red flags in his background.

I think when you lie and say that the person

is not medically fit to play when they are,as these players allege, that is not simply a loop hole and its pretty giant rules violation.

If the NCAA ever had the sack to investigate and were able to prove a case, this would result in major major penalties.  Alas they are too concerned with over stretching and this likely will go away quietly.

Maybe Comp was right

maybe Campbell really was the 11th best player in the state his senior year of HS?

And you learned that by watching Devin

take all of 2 snaps?

And please don't respond with "well the coaches made him 2nd string so he must be better than Tate" mantra because Tate was 3rd string based as much on disciplinary issues as anything else.

em0

is that you?

Ivy League?

More or less...

Which one?  Yale, Harvard, Princeton?

S.U.

Oh Stanfrord University?

Subway University.

I'm certainly surprised

but I guess it shows the value of sticking it out and waiting for your time.  Its a lesson more recruits could stand to learn.

I missed the critical articles, but RR is no

saint on the sidelines himself and really what is wrogn with a coach expressing himself on the sidelines?  Do we really all want Tom Landry coaching every team?

Why make that decision now?

You can still have DG play if DR and Tate go down regardless of whether DG has already played or not.  Redshirts are not "declared" during the season.  Either the person plays or they don't.

So why make the decision to play DG until we absolutely have no other choice?  A few plays of experience here and there are not worth burning the redshirt IMO
