Re: Les Miles: "If we lose to Florida, it's going to get ugly"
College-football fans may be obsessive, but they're not crazy. If they decide to come after the coach with a guillotine, basic civility states they usually first wait for his team to lose a game.
This season, you can kiss these rules goodbye.
Like perhaps no 5-0 coach before him, LSU's Les Miles has managed to win all of his games while simultaneously enraging his team's fans. It got so bad that after the team beat West Virginia on Sept. 25, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva felt it necessary to write a letter to fans before last week's home game against Tennessee. It's purpose: to plead with them not to boo. "[W]hen some among the crowd are vocally disapproving of our own players or coaches, it is detrimental on many levels," the letter said.
..............
This partly stems from the coach's chronically odd performances at news conferences. An entire website is devoted to his often-rambling statements. (Example: "I look forward to the opportunity at very positive consequences beyond finishing the season strong.")

Still, the Tigers have finished in the top five of one of the polls three times in his five seasons—far better than some of his predecessors. "Les brings so many good things to the table," said Mr. Weems. "You only have to look back at the days of Curley Hallman and Gerry DiNardo to know how far we are removed from that kind of mediocrity."

Maybe after LSU fans run him out of town he will come be our DB's coach next year lol.

That is a great point. If Les were to be run out of LSU would he end up back at Michigan???

If not, uh, no.

First of all no. Secondly, winning while keeping the fans and players pissed off is the best coaching strategy of all time. Winning makes you vulnerable, except when you hate your coach. And finally, I went to Michigan, I know what I'm doing.

I visit everydayshouldbesaturday.com daily just to see if LSU Freak has something posted. That guy is pure evil genius. My personal favorite was his RichRod in da club from last year.
Either that or Tressel reprising Ground Hog Day. All good.

I'm really looking forward to this game just to see what bizarre and incompetent stunts Miles pulls next. Very glad that Martin was on his yacht that weekend in 2008.

I expect ol' Les to begin his next press conference, "I was born a poor black child..."

Thank You.

Even when they win it is ugly. I'd hate to see what it would take for them to lose a game.

Going?!! to get ugly?
I guess they are making a subtle distinction between ugly, and bat-shit crazy.

No love for Gerry? C'mon!

I remember seeing Les Miles the season he won the MNC. He had so much fire and passion for the game and I wanted him to coach MICHIGAN. But now he looks like a total moron.

we need to be reminded to thank Herbie for blowing him out of the water, and getting him his HUGE contract at LSU, complete with free education for his kids, even if he is not the coach when they attend.
but he was actually a pariah in Ann Arbor, and Carr would have laid down on the tracks to keep him out

the only difference is that even Wayne Fontes can win a title in College Football if everything goes right beacuse there is no play-offs and no home field advantage in the post-season.

Hey! Don't go bad-mouthing the best Head Coach the Lions have had in the last 50 years!

Only one with a winning record....

After all, he is a Michigan Man and he could very well someday end up coaching our kickers.

I'd like to think that a Michigan Man would not normally spread rumors to recruits about our head coach having Parkinson's.

As I recall, he put his foot down about Les. Old "classy" Lloyd, behind closed doors, was one tough s.o.b. Somehow--despite his cantankerousness with the press--I think lots of people failed to see that. And he loved his players just like Rich does.

Rivals radio was reporting on the Les Miles nickname contest that is going on in LSU-land. Apparently the number one choice is "Lesticles". Comments? Suggestions?
