|1 day 7 hours ago||Nice sentiment OP but||
I for one am not looking forward to the blog this week. All the fire Hoke, we suck, who should be the next coach, etc stuff will be depressing. I have been around the blog for awhile and the last year of the RR era was horrible on the blog.
|1 day 11 hours ago||Everybody admires DG's heart||
Everybody acknowledges his athletic ability. Yea the offense has other problems. But if you simply evaluate DG on performance he comes up short and he hasn't improved since last year. What you see is what you are going to get. Not so with Morris. You don't know yet what you'll get because you only find that out over time and after sustained experience. If you had a coach convinced in his long term security he would change QB's immediately.
|3 days 8 hours ago||I noticed that too||
I was also surprised by Brian's overall optimistic take on this one-most predictions go the other way. Bottom line is like many of us it is hard to get any real take on this team yet so why not be a little optimistic this week. I do think this is a good test and by end of day Saturday I think we will really know what we have going forward this year.
|6 days 1 hour ago||Michigan Man?||
If there is still something to the "Michigan Man" thing (and I believe there is) Zack is a great example of the species.
|6 days 1 hour ago||This is a really great comment||
To put it mildly, he got away, so far, with (allegedly) raping a young woman. Looks like he's flaunting the idea that he thinks he got away with it and he has learned nothing. NFL general managers are downgrading him as we speak, especially given the current environment.
|1 week 2 days ago||We need better than "fine" from Gardner||
He's a 5th year senior, a second year starter and a great athlete. In football today, especially college football it's all about the QB. As much as I like the young man he's not a great QB and probably won't get there. He is consistently too slow to get the ball out of his hands then panics or fundamentals break down. He limits our upside this year.
|1 week 3 days ago||Amen to this, Magnus||
Well said Magnus. There are a bunch of good kids out there we should root for and help.

Every decent student in California applies. I believe UCLA has more applicants than any school in the country.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||USC is hardly a good example||
They aren't an example of handling coaching changes well. Remember Hackett? Then they couldn't get anyone to take the job and settled for an unsuccessful NFL guy who was about their 10th choice. Carroll of course worked out great but that outcome was hardly clear at the time. Then they screwed up by hiring Kiffen. It was obvious that he was a bad choice but they did it anyway. Then they chose Sark, who had a mediocre record at Washington but was hired because he was "a Trojan" the functional equivalent of a Michigan Man. It is way to early to say Sark was a good hire. As for basketball, USC hasn't made a good choice in decades.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Ryan and Countess||
What they have in common is that they both tore their ACL's and they have both lost some of their athleticism. The coaches moved Ryan to the middle because he can't move quite as quickly as he did in the past. Same with Countess. They want him at nickel because at corner his loss of quickness doesn't get exposed. Both are experienced quality players but not the same guys of two years ago because of injuries.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||He will get great support||
There are certain situations that separate Michigan and Hoke (and, to be fair, some other institutions) from other schools (hello SEC). I am sure that his recovery or lessons learned will be paramount as this plays out.
|3 weeks 9 hours ago||Agree||
I don't care about a stupid lemon and would never boycott. But a bet is a bet and Brian's excuse is really lame.

"The dread was palpable [for a goodly hunk of people reading this.] Dread. Unprecedented, but true."
Don't count me among the Dread People.
However, this does reflect Brian's view, which then of course permeates this blog. It is opening week and so many, including our fearless leader. seemingly see (hope for?) nothing but doom ahead. Now that we are about to play some football, I was hoping that Brian could suspend the Debbie Downer act at least until some 2014 results are actually in.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Brian: What does it mean for 2014?||
Basically nothing. With all due respect, why bother with this?
|5 weeks 3 days ago||"Not fun to give ND fans a hard time anymore"?||
I beg to disagree
|5 weeks 3 days ago||That's quite a summary||
Makes me smile
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Georgia/Florida and North Carolina/FSU||
We've already added Pac12 and Big12 match-ups. Now need to add SEC and ACC. Moving to Big 5 scheduling only.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||C'mon. That was fun||
Seems like a good kid who is understands and is confident in his role. Kind of what you want in a kicker.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||Maybe it's as simple as||
Miller wasn't ready last year but after a year of work he is ready to achieve top level performance. I see that all the time at my company. I am constantly rewarded by sticking with people who struggle at first.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||Correct||
Young players get better, at least most do. That a young player stuggled one year doesn't mean they can't be excellent. That why is better to redshirt so as to not expose someone as they are developing. But it doesn't mean the development won't take place. Let's step back and see what happens
|5 weeks 6 days ago||Amen to that||
Lots of us share that view
|6 weeks 3 days ago||Funny||
Quick wit winner of the day
|6 weeks 4 days ago||I sign on to reshp1's comment||
This is a good thing-it should simply be acknowleged as such. Immediately going to the negative, or the snarky, has become the norm around here on anything football-related. It does get tiresome.
|6 weeks 6 days ago||With all due respect to the other great contributors to the Blog||
Magnus is the best, and has been for a long time. For whatever reason(s), becoming a member of the staff apparently is never going to happen. Too bad.
|6 weeks 6 days ago||Easy||
Pay the man.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||I Sam Webb says something like this,||
especially this close to an announcement, he is almost always right. Good get for MSU I suppose if it pans out but 2016 WR's? Lots of great candidates out there.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||If this works Beilein truly is the genius||
everyone believes him to be. Plucking a 17ppg DIII player out of nowhere a few weeks before classes start is unusual to say the least. Shows how he never stops looking to add pieces. This is really interesting and will be fun to watch.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||Taylor and Lewis||
That's exactly the look you want your corners to have when they are on the edge one-on-one
|8 weeks 2 days ago||The quality of this class is outstanding||
Yes, by necessity the class is small but the quality is really outstanding. Using Rivals rankings, only Alabama and USC have higher average player ranking in top 25 schools, even with a kicker (max 2*) in our numbers. Also, we have landed 2 of 3 top players in state, with Weber #1 and obviously still a possibility.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||Looks like Green is really hungry this year||
In a good way of course.
