Minnesota's Pitching

They played them well all the way through, which put them in a position to win when Minnesota's pitching collapsed late in the game. It's a great win for this team and congrats to them.

Thanks for creating this group/thread.  I recently relocated to Charlottesville from A2 and have been hoping to find a group of Michigan fans to watch games with!

scheduling

this is what happens when you schedule Akron. I'm surprised they had that many people there.

denegrating michigan

I don't think that Cowerd's previous comments about Harbaugh not leaving Stanford for Michigan necessarily imply that Michigan is inferior.  He could have just been stating that Stanford is good, in its own right.  Either way he was wrong, as usual.

entertain

While I agree that mgoblog has its entertainment value.  I think that what really makes this site unique is the level of actual information and analysis provided.  The entire reason that I started reading this blog was because it is a perfect marriage of my nerd and jock brains -  statistics and michigan football, there aren't many better combinations than that.

closer

Bats aren't the real problem with this team.  Even down the batting order, they can all come and go at times, but in general, are at least where we need them to be.  The focus for the tigers to be able to make a late season run will be to shore up their late game pitching - especially at the closer position.

Weber's

They might also be sold out, but try Weber's Inn.  If that doesn't work, there are a ton of B&B's in town that usually have vacancies.

symbolic

I think that pretty much sums up what every 'Cuse fan was feeling at that moment.

Deja Vu

This feels just like last night's Kansas game.  I'm just waiting for the refs to blow like they did for Iowa State.

They've been in Chelsea, MI

They've been in Chelsea, MI for years.

Wise indeed

I think the most impressive play that McGary made last night was the layup that he made when catching the ball down low, but keeping it high near the rim.  He never took a dribble, or even brought the ball in toward his chest.  It was a quick - catch, come down, and then put it in the basket - without bringing his arms back inward.  This is a high basketball IQ type play that you rarely see out of freshman.

Calm down and keep your pants

Calm down and keep your pants on.  I wasn't saying they sholdn't do it, nor was I saying they shouldn't play music.  I was just requesting that they play music that doesn't suck.

DB's M.O.

This isn't shocking, considering the source.  As annoying as this is, I welcome the idea of not being woken up on that weekend morning to the sound of terrible club music on repeat coming from the stadium.  Would it kill them to play a little CCR in the Big House?

Full disclosure, I spent the

Full disclosure, I spent the 2006 season in much better seats of the student section and these problems did not exist.  People showed up, on time, and were rocking for the entire game.

Having spent the 2009 season

Having spent the 2009 season in the upper bowl of the student section, I can attest to two things:

1) it's mainly underclassmen who are there more for the social scene than the game

2) There is little to no coordination among the students as in other sports on campus.  The upperclassmen need to take control and organize the students.  They are a rudderless ship

Vizzini: Finish him. Finish him, your way.

Fezzik: Oh good, my way. Thank you Vizzini... what's my way?

Vizzini: Pick up one of those rocks, get behind a boulder, in a few minutes the man in black will come running around the bend, the minute his head is in view, hit it with the rock.

Fezzik: My way's not very sportsman-like.

quite true.  in my experiences in dealing with the Alumni Association, the quality of your experience varies drastically between what school you come from and what region your in currently.  My advice to you would be to see if you could possibly sit in on a few events that your regional alumni group hosts.  that way you can test the waters first.

That depends on what type of presence you would like to maintain as an alumnus.  If your interest is in networking opportunities, or even in university development (through donations/gifts/etc) it is definitely worth it.  It's also nice to help keep you involved in the campus life (if you desire such a thing).  As far as discounts on insurance and the like, check out this website

PSU should be shut down

I don't know if you're equating the right parts of each situation.  The initial "crime" in Michigan's case was the payments to players/stetching (for their respective violations).  Whereas the crime (actual, legal terrible, terrible crime) in PSU's case were the multiple rapes.  The next step (the step to which I believe you're referring to), Michigan's brass report and take their medicine.  In PSU's case, they covered it up even more.  Add on top of that the nature of the situation and, I have to believe that there aught to be some serious consideration to eliminating their program.  Let's think about this for a minute.  The program at the school became so out of control that they were able to strongarm the president of the university into covering up a series of rapes.  If SMU's violations and LOIC warrented shutting down the progam, I'd say that the situation at Penn St. most certainly does too.  For at least a year, if not even longer.

I'd like to think that our

I'd like to think that our top brass at the school would handle this better, but that's naive.  You never know how people will react in these situations until they're placed in them.

I whole-heartidly agree with

I whole-heartidly agree with you.  This is exactly why we need to take this horrible tragedy and learn a lesson from it as sports fans.  We cannot let our real-world values become skewed because we place such a high priority on winning extra curricular activities.  don't get me wrong, I love college football (i'm here, on this blog in the off season as a perfect example), but we should never lose sight of what is really important.

domino's still tastes like cardboard.  they just spent a ton of money on marketing to convince people otherwise.  That change, along with what he's done here, was nothing but a gimmick.
