Alpena is a fantastic, …

Alpena is a fantastic,  under the radar place.  I raised 3 kids there, 2 graduated UM in engineering.   3rd graduated MSU in business.   On lake Huron.   Great sailing, boating, fishing.  Small town atmosphere.   Very good schools and hospital.  Low crime rate.  Low cost of living.

That was beautiful Brian.

That was beautiful Brian.

"every bit of hope chiseled out by a guy fighting so hard and so futilely before the breakthrough is on this team."

This brings tears to my eyes.

In a single game playoff, in…

In a single game playoff, in any sport, it is all about defense.

Bo Schembechler would be…

Bo Schembechler would be proud!

I watched a lot of Reds…

I watched a lot of Reds games in those years.  Morgan was definitely the glue that held that team together.  He had a special relationship with Sparky Anderson.  He was a tough out, and he drove pitchers crazy stealing second.  He was intelligent and well spoken....a wonderful ambassador for the Reds.

It was great to see DPJ come…

It was great to see DPJ come up to Patterson, sitting on the bench, and congratulate him for his TD throw.

Thanks for the link.  That…

Thanks for the link.  That is hilarious!  We know EXACTLY how this guy feels... been there!

That said, over the last many years, I have lost any feelings of mercy.  Michigan should just go out and keep playing their game, regardless of the score.

I think Ed Warinner is…

I think Ed Warinner is making a huge difference.  I remember last year after losing to MSU, Dantonio chuckled about how complex the UM offense was.  (to the point of not being able to execute)  Now we are seeing quotes about how the offensive line schemes have been simplified, allowing the guys to focus on getting better at executing fewer maneuvers.

It is a work in progress, and will require better O.L. recruiting, but it appears that Harbaugh identified the problem and addressed it by firing his friend Drevno & hiring Warinner.

He has set the O.L. up for major improvement going forward.  It goes without saying that Harbaugh is a running game guy, and he knows how important the O.L. is.

Good Decision

This is absolutely the right decision.

Peters has suffered at least 2 blows to his head in the last few weeks, and has suffered at least 1 concussion.  He needs time to heal.  This is best for him in the long run, and the best for Michigan football in the long run.  Another head bump today could literally end Peters' career.

Good decision by the medical staff and Jim Harbaugh.

Unless it rains..

Then Sparty will be favored.

It is not luck!

Perhaps OSU is lucky, but it is foolhardy to asssume that the difference in injuries is luck.

Maybe by playing upper classmen, their bones and joints are more mature.

Maybe they train differently.

Maybe they wear different knee supports.

Maybe they play and practice on different turf.

Well, yeah...

He is the new kid.  Freshman.  Physically "young".  They don't want him to get hurt.  They don't want to throw him to the wolves and blow away his confidence.  Bad things can happen.   Remember Devin Gardner?

Pep Hamilton

The quarterback play overall has regressed this year. Speight played worse than last year, & Jok was awful.
The coaching difference from 2016 is Hamilton, who has been a failure every place he coached. I hope he doesn't ruin Peters.

OMG!

God Bless you and your wife.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Your daughter is in God's hands.

Isaac

If Isaac has an injured spleen, he will be out for an extended length of time.  Note that he was holding his left lower ribs, where the spleen is located.

Great Presser

This presser really lets us know that Harbaugh is fully aware of the problems that his team had in this game, and that he intends to fix them.  That includes play calling and individual player mistakes.  And he threw nobody under the bus.  What a great coach.

The Submarine

Harbaugh's third year team is going to surprise everyone. Wilton Speight is going to have a very good year.

But But But ...

We no longer have Fred Jackson coaching the running backs!

Great Coaching:

It took years of great coaching to make this play happen.

The block by Seyferth is a thing of beauty,

but the play call by the BACKUP quarterback Seyferth, his execution of the pitch and his block are just excellent execution.

Well done by all concerned!

Good for Jim Harbaugh!

He motivated this coach to get off his *ss and take his camp to where the kids are.,

Wings Goalie

Heck, Manny Legace was run out by his own teammates!
Also, Wings coach & GM catch Holy H*ll.

Years ago a 737 rolled over

and crashed in Pennsylvania when the linkage (?actuator) failed on the rudder.  Lots of people were killed. :(

This is the second time Blashill

has been hinted at for the Michigan job.  The first time was a week or so ago when Datsyuk's agent tweeted that Michigan was going to get a fantastic coach.  That was deduced to be Blashill.  fwiw

Jackson

Jackson was a terrible running backs coach.

Donald Trump's Running Mate

;)

Harbaugh pounding on Rudock!

The visual of Harbaugh pounding on Rudock was precisely when the season changed for Rudock and the team.

Up until then Rudock had been too cautious & tentative.

Harbaugh figured this out about his quarterback and pounded on him to make him mad, get his adrenaline going, put some fight in him, to fire him up.

He figured out Rudock, and he solved the problem.

That is when Rudock's performance went parabolic.

God bless you, Chad,

and God bless your whole family. :((

"Blackhawks" is offensive ...

They should be the Chicago Blackbirds.

DeVeon Smith

Maybe he is playing through an injury?

Look at the helmets:

Which team had the lower helmets?  Whose line won the battle?  The photo says it all.

Health

I suspect his retirement is for something far worse than seizures.

Godspeed, Jerry Kill!

Compared to last year

The quarterback position is so much more manageable this year.  Rudock keeps his head, makes the play he can see, and throws it away if he must.

Quarterback play is not a tire fire like last year.

Rudock is no Tom Brady, but as long as he is not turning the ball over constantly, the defense and the ground game give us a chance to win.

Injury

Do you have any sensory numbness or muscle weakness in your arms or legs?  If not, you likely do not have a nerve injury.

There is no way to tell about a disc injury withou an MRI.

This is probably related to your weight lifting accident.

Try this:

No weight lifting

Stretching 4 times daily. Yoga works

Apply heating pad

Sleep on firm mattress with lots of neck / head support

Take ibuprofen 800 mg 3 times daily

Take muscle relaxant if you have it

Massage if avalable

This will take longer than you will expect

See your doctor

Go Blue.

The Coaches

This might be a subject for another thread:

How would Rich Rod and Brady Hoke have succeeded (or not) without DB looking over their shoulders in every meeting?

Could Wheatley play both ways?

Could Wheatley play Tight End and WDE?

Jay's unspoken role...

Maybe Jay Harbaugh's primary role will be recruiting...a surrogate for his dad.

Khakis???

What happened to his pants?

They must be in the laundry!

Agreed

IMHO, it has been years since our running backs have had any coaching whatsoever.

Missed holes, missed blocks, not following the blockers, not knowing the timing of:  "when to give up on the blocking scheme and make your own hole".

I bet we will see a huge leap in running back productivity.

When Harbaugh is introduced...

as the UM coach, MGoBlog needs a plan to celebrate...

After all, "the Ruskies don't take crap with out a plan" ...

Muppets? PB&J time?  A new banner?  All of the above?

Fire, smoke, cordite coming fom the computer?

Whatever, it has to be big.

;)

Ace, you are in good company...

President John F. Kennedy had adrenal insufficiency.

If Harbaugh comes,

mgoblog will go up in smoke!

From another angle:

By all accounts, Harbaugh has great regard (affection) for his alma mater, the University of Michigan.

Therefore,

if he was NOT coming to UM, he would not delay his decision and string them along, when they should be actively persuing some other, viable candidate.

Better candidates than Harbaugh?

I think that would be a matter of priorities...

i.e:  If your priority is a nice guy who loves his players, you want a clone of Brady Hoke.

OTOH, if your priority is a guy who will kick some ass and win games, you want Harbaugh.

Regarding the wife, buy her a Gulfstream 6 and she can be in San Fran in 3 hours.

The SF team knows their coach is gone.

Their owner and GM have made it obvious, & there is speculation he is leaving for another team or UM.  Under similar circumstances, teams are just not motivated.  Remember how his UM team played for RR in his last bowl game?
