Griese's take on Denard
Nothing but praise for Denard and gives him good advice of "not to shatter any windows, especially the one at Scorekeepers!" :P

Well, at least he has a sense of humor about that incident.

to throw out a joke about that.
My sister's roomy at that time was a writer for The Daily. It was before my time on campus, so I can't confirm anything. However, per my sis, the roomy was given pretty amazing access to the team based on how she covered that incident. More of a "boys will be boys" sorta thing than deteriorating family values.

EDIT: Double post

basically sums up everything he said during the commentary of the game.

Did it seem that Griese wasn't too happy with his co-announcer? Not only did there seem to be no chemistry, it seemed that they did not get along at all. Found it odd, that is all.

Did he think we were tuning in for his talk radio program? His claims that "there is no argument" against his pro-playoff stance and his constant "I'm not saying Michigan is overrated, I'm just saying..." were unbearable. Griese did a good job ignoring him and keeping the focus on covering the game in a professional manner, but I was kind of hoping he would throw that fucker out of the booth.

yea seriously.. He's like i don't get why every year when michigan beats notre dame they are ranked... I don't get it.. Again michigan beats notre dame this year and they are ranked again..
He takes nothing into consideration about our teams stats or both our quality wins at that point in the season
September 26th, 2010 at 7:27 PM ^
That bit about "what has Notre Dame done in the last 10 years to warrant a team being ranked by beating them" bit was completely uncalled-for. What is Michigan supposed to do, not beat Notre Dame? It's a rivalry game, for chrissakes.
It's too bad because I really enjoy Brian Greise's commentary. Hopefully they can team him up with McDonaugh or somebody else.

We jumped from 26th to 20th after that game for christ sake, he made it seem like we jumped 45 spots or something.
September 26th, 2010 at 9:53 PM ^
At least ND was unbeaten when we played them.
Imagine his outrage if Notre Dame already had a loss, and a team beat them at home...in overtime...on a trick play, in order to get ranked.
Mike Valenti, was that you?
September 27th, 2010 at 2:41 PM ^
You have to understand: that wasn't a dig at Michigan, it was a dig at Notre Dame. The play-by-play guy went to Boston College. BC and ND don't care much for each other.

Yeah, I kept hearing that and wondering where it was coming from. A bit awkward in the press box.
September 26th, 2010 at 8:19 PM ^
I almost forgot about that part where the announcer said "can you believe it's been soooo looong since Michigan won that '97 championship..." Right. Because there are at least 20 or 20 other schools that have won national titles more recently. A-hole.
September 26th, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
I really thought the Play by Play guy was pretty good. He was saying it was so looong, because it was making fun or busting the balls of his color guy, Griese. Mainly I can't believe you're so old etc. He was making fun of Griese's throwing motion earlier too.
He is a BC grad and Griese made fun of BC and the fact they were losing and he took in in stride. Really I think they were just trying to fill time in a boring game to everyone except Michigan fans. If there wasn't a Michigan guy in the booth then these comments would file on the jerkness scale., but I think he was just trying to keep it interesting.
I think Griese felt awkward because it was his first game covering his alma mater, and the PBP guy was disparging his school a little and wanted to defend it, but didn't want to come across as a huge homer. Hence the uneasiness in the booth
Not everyone is against us and we need to have a sense of humor.

That ass clown sitting next to Griese in the booth was as bad as it gets. However anything beats Pam Ward.

We're on ESPNU :(
September 26th, 2010 at 8:17 PM ^
Pam Ward? What the fuck did we do to deserve this?
September 26th, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
but I plan to use the mute button during the game.
September 26th, 2010 at 9:17 PM ^
I do not want to see Pam Ward in HD.

I imagine that between plays he was too busy looking at his National Championship ring...
September 26th, 2010 at 8:49 PM ^
sounded a bit like his dad on occassion which is not a bad thing.

Here's Nick Coman's take on Denard:
Who's Nick Coman, you ask? Your resident NESN slapdick.
