| 37 weeks 2 days ago | We are Michigan |
What's the point of this post exactly? To prove that we'll never be "great" like Bama? And u post this on a pro-Michigan blog site? Let's not forget that this is still just football and still at the collegiate level. Bama has to deal with kids, 18 years old who have to be trained to make it at the next level just like everybody else. Sure Bama has great players, but since when has Michigan not been capable of getting great players? Someone responded earlier by listing all of the shortcomings Michigan experienced in past bowl games as evidence that we've never had that national championship caliber teams... news flash, Bo got out coached. I can't remember all the times I saw Michigan down in points in the fourth and screaming at the TV screen "Throw something!". Just the same in 2006 UM and OSU got out coached. Florida ran the same play down the sideline like a dozen times and the Def. Cor. never defended it. We may have gotten our asses kicked against a very good national title Bama team, but who on this site will tell you that they expected us to be competing for the title this year? We knew we weren't there yet. But that doesn't mean that I don't fully expect Hoke to come back with a vengeance in a year or two and compete at that caliber. We'll get there. Just gotta have patience. GO BLUE!! |
| 1 year 32 weeks ago | MSU's offensive line is too weak. |
Looks to me like its going to be very similar to the Northwestern game this past weekend. Michigan will be battling in the first half to stop a few of Dantonio's "trick" plays and end up neck and neck. Second half i think Mattison closes up the holes on D and as long as D-Rob has a decent game its game over. Michigan wins by 10.

| 1 year 33 weeks ago | "So you're telling me there's a chance..." |
The way I see it, Michigan has three make or break games in order to finish in the top seat of the division; Nebraska, Michigan State, and OSU. If they can come up with 2 of 3 wins in these games, they have a very realistic shot at finding themselves in Indy. However, Its too early to make predictions. We're just starting the BIG 10 play.

| 2 years 19 weeks ago | I just don't see any |
scenario playing out where our program was better off with DB delaying the decision to fire RR, unless he nails a "BIG" name as the successor. He's going to have to come up with a name like Gruden that would undoubtedly send recuits flowing our way. Otherwise, the delay wasn't fair to RR, the players or the fans. |
| 2 years 19 weeks ago | As much as I hate to admit it, |
Rosenberg is dead on in this article. He also makes the good point that the UM coaching job is a far more scarce commodity to come by than an NFL job. The NFL will always be there but the UM job could be once in a lifetime. For that reason, I think If Brandon parts from Rich Rod, Harbaugh's coming our way! GO BLUE!!! |
| 2 years 22 weeks ago | Agree |
The Big Ten is much deeper this year than in 08'. |
| 2 years 22 weeks ago | You know that Brandon |
has to have a plan when he keeps everyone in limbo about Rich Rod. The question I have, is that if Harbaugh is not coming, then what else could be the reason for his actions? |
| 2 years 23 weeks ago | I don't think its so questionable to |
"fire Coach Rod" as it is the timing of the whole thing. History shows us that its the "norm" of the NCAA to either fire or re-sign a coach after the regular season has finished. Anything else would be devastating for coach in acquiring new recruits. I just don't see the gain for UM in keeping everyone in limbo. However I know will pull through because we're Michigan! GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 23 weeks ago | I can live with the decision |
by UM to hire Brandon based on his credentials, because I think he seems like a really sharp and capable guy. However, each day we do not here any updates on the coaching status of Rich Rod, I get more and more confused, because I'm having a hard time figuring out his game plan. Maybe I'm alone, but I don't see how any of his actions lately has helped the football program. |
| 2 years 23 weeks ago | I agree that the team is looking good |
however, I think the conference is deeper than it was in 08-09' season. That being said, I don't think that its out of the question to get an NCAA bid, but we're going to have to be a better team than the 08-09' team if we do. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 24 weeks ago | So not being competitive with top 10 teams is ok? |
When's the last time in Michigan history any true Michigan fan was "satisfied" with not being competitive with top ten teams? We're Michigan!! We are known for destroying top ranked teams' national title hopes. Not only should we be competitive with top ranked teams, we should be a top ranked team.
GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 24 weeks ago | Trust me when I say |
the bowl game outcome will have nothing to do with Rich Rod's future. David Brandon has three years of outcomes to look at for determining Rich Rod's future. A victory or a loss in the bowl will not have any impact what so ever. Brandon's a sharp guy, if he somehow fires Rich Rod after the bowl, it was because he made up his mind a long time ago. Go Blue!! |
| 2 years 24 weeks ago | I think if we are to make the tourny, |
we're gonna have to get to the 20 win number with our schedule and have a winning record in the big ten. To accomplish that, we're gonna have to win all of our games against the bottom feeders like Penn State, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, and Minny. And I don't know how many of you watched the other games this week, but the only two that look like somewhat of a push over are Indiana and Penn State. Northwestern is predicted to make the dance for the first time in school history! Other than that the big ten is looking really tough, so every win is going to come really hard. Boys looked good last night, but making the dance is going to be a tall order this year. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 25 weeks ago | Its a tough situation for Brandon. |
Brandon's almost forced into a position of rolling the dice. He has to look at a coach who's team lost nearly every big game in the season, finishing with a mediocre record and try to decide if this coach will indeed eventually bring Michigan to the top of the big ten and the nation. On the one hand, if he still believes in RR, he has to face the fact that its not going to happen over night and he will have to put up with angry fans and alumni in all liklihood for another year. If he believes RR has to go, then he's left with a program in shambles and a nearly impossible situation for the next coach. Furthermore, on that note, I don't care who the coach is, he's not going to be able to implement yet another system and get it up and running in less than 2 to 3 years. I don't envy Brandon's position at all and I hope it works out for us in the end. Go blue! |
| 2 years 25 weeks ago | Very true. |
During the game they mentioned that Brandon's quote was that he would wait til after the bowl to make a decision, however everyone knows that's just not realistic. No self respecting organization would ever fire a coach after the bowl game because it simply wastes too much time. I think that was simply a quote to give himself some breathing room and the press to back off a little. |
| 2 years 25 weeks ago | If we choose to replace the DC, what makes you think |
a school like U of M with a history of football tradition will have any difficulty finding a good coach to take the job? |
| 2 years 26 weeks ago | Rich Rod's problem is that he's |
not involved enough! We scored to bring the Wisconsin game to within 10 points. All the defense had to do was stop Wisconsin and we had them right where we wanted them. And Rich Rod was off in la la land instead of in the huddle getting our D pumped up. Wouldn't you think that if your job was on the line, in big part because of the bad play by the defense, that you'd be in the huddle trying to motivate any chance you got? |
| 2 years 26 weeks ago | I'm still hoping |
the BCS gets shaken up by both Oregon and Auburn losing one of their last two games. Then you'd have every conference with a 1 loss team in it, and the only undefeated teams would be Boise State and TCU! I like to live in my dream world. |
| 2 years 27 weeks ago | Everyone seems to agree that it looked ugly, but |
the fact that we pulled through with a "W" on the road means alot. The conditions were horrible and we still took care of business. Other than that, I don't think you can draw many conclusions about how our offense or defense for that matter is currently performing. All I can say is that I'm looking forward to seeing our defense come into a big game with some confidence. We're gonna have to bring our "A+" game come next Saturday, but I think we've got a shot at upsetting a giant. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 28 weeks ago | I agree |
we have problems in more than one area on the defense for more than one reason. |
| 2 years 28 weeks ago | we will never be Notre Dame! |
And the reason is because we will never tolerate mediocracy for a long period. Maybe RR is the gonna turn us around, maybe not. But at the end of the season when all is said and done, he will be evaluated for what he has accomplished. Furthermore, if his team has not reached an adequate level by the end of the season I have every confidence in our athletic department to do the right thing. We will not tolerate a Charlie Weis here! GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 31 weeks ago | How can you say |
that there's a line drawn in the sand where if Rich Rod loses to all three Wisconsin, Iowa and Ohio State he is gone? I really feel that any true Michigan fan will tell you that you can't simply look at Rich Rod's win loss record and say if you want him to stay. The criteria in every Michigan fans' head should be, "Do I believe in this coach to bring us to a national force in football once again?" Therefore, seems better for us to stop focusing on where the line will be drawn, and more so on each game as they come. Because when all the dust has settled after the MSU game, I reallyl feel that if our defense continues to improve along with our offense minimizing mistakes, we have a chance to do what past Michigan football teams have been great at... ruining Ohio State's national championship chances at the end of the season. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 32 weeks ago | Michigan on top 42-21 |
I think our offense will roll and surprise the so called "tough defense" of MSU. In addtion our defense is ready to have the best game of the year with the home crowd. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 32 weeks ago | I like what our coach |
has done thus far, however, I still think that these next couple of games have huge implications for the rest of the season and our recruiting for that matter. If we come out on top against State that puts us at 6-0 with a good shot at beating Iowa at home, giving us two quality wins back to back. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 32 weeks ago | Michigan needs to get on the board early. |
Every year, State is going to play their BEST game they'll play all season when they play us. Like a few other schools, playing Michigan is the biggest game of the year and their energy is through the roof. That being said, I think if we come out of the gate and punch them in the mouth early, our offense has a good chance at controlling this game. Bottom line is, State's offense isn't capable of scoring as well as us, so Michigan will end up on top. Michigan wins 42-21. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 32 weeks ago | It's MICHIGAN |
Its MICHIGAN, not some east cost school who sometimes looks good in football. We've had heisman trophy winners before and we're going to have them in the future. Rich Rod isn't just a coach in the right place at the right time; he's the coach of THE Michigan Wolverines, and therefore he's going to be able to recruit players like Denard in the future as well. Rich Rod deserves credit for putting us in the situation that we are in right now at 5-0 and a chance to have a special season. We are fortunate to have Denard playing as well as he is right now, but we're not lucky; we EXPECT to be in this situation several times in the future. Both Rich Rod and Denard deserve a pat on the back for this season. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 33 weeks ago | I agree with the score prediction. |
Michigan's going to come into this game breathing fire after losing the past two seasons to State. Not to mention the ALREADY present motivation they've shown with having something to prove and becoming bowl eligible. In result, I think our offense should score with little trouble, and the defense will have the home crowd to carry them through. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 33 weeks ago | Call me crazy, |
but I keep believing that the defense is going to keep improving little by little and then just shock the heck out of us with a break through in a big game. I'm just hoping it happens soon, preferably against State. All the team really needs is a few more stops on defense they could do something special this year. GO BLUE!!! |
| 2 years 33 weeks ago | Michigan wins 45-23 |
I think you'd almost have to bet on Michigan putting up atleast 45 points when you size up Indiana's defense. So with our offense rolling, we're going to force Indiana to go the full length of the field several times during the game. In result they will have to do pretty well to put up 23 points against us. GO BLUE!! |
| 2 years 33 weeks ago | Absolutely! |
You have to be strong on both sides of the ball if you want to win alot of games. Not to mention, one DOES affect the other. If the offense controls the clock, the defense will get plenty of time to rest and perform at a higher level. So I just thought I'd pipe in and say Amen brother! GO BLUE!! |
