Vulgar and Godsmack. strangely they are both cathartic to me. |
| 3 weeks 7 hours ago | RIP |
Very sad news. This is one of the bands I grew up with. My first exposure to Slayer was on MTV back when they played music. They were doing a special about this new underground scene called heavy metal/thrash. MTV 's attitude was that they couldn't believe hard rock was making a comeback.
In a scene the members of Slayer talked about their music and fans. I think it was Mr Hanneman who said, "Our music isn't for just anyone. You gotta have problems to relate to it" Of course MTV ran with that quote.
Their music has stood up well in the test of time nearly 30 years later. Decade of Agression is still my go to album in the weightroom. |

The only one that underachieves more than Dixon is Barnes at Texas. |

I'm sure that's what the Pitt AD is praying for right now. How that guy keeps a job is beyond me. Dixon has been rumored to UCLA though. |

Soft teams don't make it past the sweet 16 Soft teams don't win championships Soft teams lose games they should win and win games they should lose This is a soft team and I am still happy to be a fan |

Almost as bad as Ohio vs Duke. I didn't have enough hate in my body so I couldn't watch. For this one I'll give it a go but in no way will I root for that team. 3 overtimes would make me very happy. |

He's full of talk after the game, but where was this attitude and leadership during the game? Michigan is losing games because there is no oncourt leadership. |
| 12 weeks 1 day ago | Ball Handlers |
I actually prefer the lineup when Burke and Albrecht are on the floor together. It takes pressure off Burke without too many "oh crap" moments and Spike seems like he at least knows how to play defense. |

I know when I saw JB, the X's O's coach, turn red from yelling @ Stauskas at the timeout that the problem goes bigger than X's and O's. It's a young team and we all realize that, but someone has to step up. Who is this guy on this year's team?

| 13 weeks 5 days ago | Prescription Unhappy too |
My daughter had a UTI when she was only a few months old. Even though she exhibited all the signs of a UTI the DR insisted on a lab speciman. In a child that young that means a catheter since they can't deliver the specimen. It was so painful for my daughter that two of the nurses were crying. I understand antibiotic overprescription, but that was uncalled for IMHO. Anyway, I'd go with referrals if that is in any way an option. I'm not 100% a pediatrician is even required if you're comfortable with your family doctor and your child doesn't have any issues. good luck. Being a parent is the best thankless/payless job in the world. |
| 14 weeks 1 day ago | 3 trials will decide the fate of the sanctions |
If the prosecution goes 0-3 in the upcoming trials against Spanier, Curley, and the guy who I cannot remember I believe the NCAA will be forced to look at the sanctions on Penn State because of public pressure. If all 3 are convicted, it will be case closed and Penn State can eat a lump of excrement until the sanctons are over. Anything inbetween and the clarity of the situation will remain as it is now with two distinct sides to the issue. Personally I'd have no problem with them getting schollys back after 2 years but extending thebowl ban to 6 or 8. |

They all have a different style to their game. McGary is a definite low post player with the enthusiasm of the Energizer Bunny. But, going 100% all the tme wears him down and then he starts to make mistakes. Horford is a highpost player who can score and has a light touch on his shot. He's too "brittle"for the low post and will get muscled out of the way by more physical players. His game is finesse and athleticism. Morgan is a hybrid of the two. While he doesn't excel at either, he can be more than adequate at both. Right now his greatest asset is experience. |

These games are where we will miss the leadership of Novak and Douglas. One of these underclassmen needs to step up and be a leader. |

I still blame Hopson. Glad to see Shafer doing well. I think it's a Mgoblog given that he got screwed overduring his time here. I'd like to see 'Cuse get good enough that they are on the menu for the next round of B10 expansion. |
| 19 weeks 4 days ago | Not Vick |
As has been discussed in other threads, Kelly's offense is a pass-based spread. The Qb running is not the focus of the offense. That makes me think that it may translate to the NFL. Vick however has never been a good passer, by his own admission cannot read defenses very well, and has been a turnover machine in Philly. He's also getting old by nfl standards. Jim Mora Sr said Vick was a coach killer after his kid got canned from the falcons. Time has proved him correct with all of his coaches getting canned wityh the exception of Petrino who left before he go whacked. I don't watch pro ball, but am forced because of geography to listen/watch the Eagles and Steelers. Kelly coming to Philly had me mildly interested. But Vick is nothing more than fool's gold. |

2 years ago I was working on models to predict where kids would sign. I was putting kids into the spreadsheet when they got down to a final 3 and posting on here when I thought kids would wind up.
The largest factor (42% by memory) was the distance of the school from the player's home. Next highest factor was the record of the recruiting coach and the last I had pinned down was the previous 4 year record of the school. I got to about 80% accuracy, but didn't have time/energy to pursue it any longer.
edit: the formula was different for 4 and 5 stars with 4 stars being more willing to travel. |
| 21 weeks 5 days ago | Dallas? |
Admittedly, I don't watch pro sports. I think in the last two years I may have seen 4 quarters of pro football in total. But, I know Dallas has been on a decade+ trail of sucktitude. JJ has show a willingness to open the checkbook for the right coach. What he hasn't shown is the ability to stay in his skybox and let the football guys run the team. Saban would be the first since Jimmy Johnson to have the clout to put him at arms length and actually win games. |
| 22 weeks 5 days ago | Dislocated/subluxed shoulder |
Dislocated/subluxed shoulder ended my baseball career. PT's at the time said strengthening the rotator cuff muscles would help, but as I aged and muscles weakened I would have problems since ligaments don't recover from being stretched. Told me I was done pitching. That was 20 years ago and trying to play in college proved them correct. I hope that there have been enough advances and knees are different enough that Mr Horford can continue to play the game he loves at a high level with rest and healing.

Single guys just can't grasp it. I make money/she spends money, it's a prefect fit. The Bride's title in my house is Social Director. |
| 24 weeks 1 day ago | 3rd Place should never get a berth in the Championship Game. |
3rd Place deserves a participation trophy. They finished behind a team penalized scholarships and ineligible and another team who lost ~10 starters when the door was opened to leave. Yes, they beat Nebraska. The same Nebraska that has a history of choking in big games under a coach unfortunately named Bo. |
| 24 weeks 2 days ago | Took the cash while he could get it |
I think Wisconsin is on the decline, mostly because of losing their guy to Pitt. This year shoed you actually have to recruit a Qb and develop him instead of just grabbing a transfer. IMHO, this is no different tha the Ohio coach leaving Fla, but he didn't pretend to be sick or have family issues. The payday was there and at his present position his value was diminishing. |

Heck, everyone else thinks they're gonna get him why not Wisconsin /s |

| 25 weeks 3 days ago | Optimism |
I've been telling my son all season that he's going to see Michigan defense like it used to be played. The starting lineup is full of Fr/So players that is already playing well enough to keep this team in every game. The only game that I thought we got smacked in this year was Alabama and we're not the only ones it happened to. I'm very excited. He's still not sure what I mean since the RR years were his formative years. I'm still tempering my enthusiasm on the offensive side of the ball. Too many unanswered questions, but Gardner is definetly a step toward answering them. I am very leery of all the people pinning their hopes on a high school kid who hasn't even taken a practice snap as a Wolverine yet. |
