Looks as though Duke's NCAA tourney streak will officially be over, as they are dropping out of the ACC tourney today, due to positive Covid test.

wait, you're telling me that coach kreqrqcbzipski found a way to pretend that one of his crappier teams was some sort of weird victim of circumstance?  no way!

I would go so far as to say most things are not fracking conspiracies.     Shouldn’t that type of conspiracy actually be limited to conspiracies about fracking.    To be differentiated from fudgen conspiracy theories.   Which could themselves be further subdivided into those conspiracy theories involving Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge and those involving the candy treat (and most likely Charlie Wonka).   There are also frickin conspiracy theories, oftten related to sharks with laser beams attached to their heads.

Fracking, fricken and fudgen conspiracy theories certainly do not preclude Dookie conspiracy theories (who did take that deuce in the urinal?).

"melanin deficient".

Hmmm... interesting username that caught my eye when scanning thru the new accounts, and then I see that on this Wednesday when you signed up you proceeded to post 36 times in threads from 2008. Nearly all of your posts were 3 words or less of nonsense in an attempt to secretly but quickly build up points.

Bad strategy. I'll give you until 6pm to plead your case; if I don't end up blocking your account, I will at minimum be resetting your points in the negative.

Yeah yeah yeah - We all hate Duke and can't stand Coach K but this really sucks for those players.

I, like many, was rooting for them to get bounced early in the ACC tournament and have their hopes dashed as one of the first four out on selection day but given the circumstances, they actually battled back pretty hard over the last half of the season (like a lot of blue blood programs weirdly enough) and with a win or two probably make the dance.

Tough luck I guess...

it was a joke.  i don't honestly think this is on purpose.

but let's be clear here - if coach kdagdtrouski hadn't dumped his 'i have a bad back' record on his pete gaudet back in 1994 nobody would be making this joke.

he's a great, great coach.  he's also a massively sanctimonious turd.  i shall not be shedding any tears for him.

One reason to care is that they very likely would have lost to FSU tonight. Then their season would have been over.

Now? They get to play the (at least somewhat) "what might have been" card, instead of owning what a crap show, in terms of performance, their program was this year. This ending actually makes them more relevant (e.g., ESPN.com story for sure to come: "How programs are working in Indy to avoid Duke's early tourney exit.")

That's leaving aside it sucks for any program to have their season ended so abruptly.

It would've been nicer to have them bounced from the ACC Tourney too soon to warrant an at-large NCAA bid.  I wouldn't have minded them getting bounced in rounds 1 or 2 of the NCAA, either.  As it stands, Coach K can use the Covid excuse for a bad season, so, ...  poopy.

Yep. I have no doubt the NCAA tourney will happen this year, and I am sure there will be a champion crowned, but it's not a good feeling knowing it's very likely there will be a team(s) who gets "bounced" without losing a game on the court.

What may suck is for Louisville, who just played them yesterday. They are actually projected to be in the ncaa tournament. I don’t like Louisville but that would suck if they have players get it because of Duke

I've got to imagine whoever is the one who got sick is a really popular guy in the locker room right now. Building a smidge of momentum with a chance to break into the tournament, and then just like that, your season is pretty much guaranteed to be over.

If they'd gotten to play (and beat) FSU they may have had a chance to sneak in as a First Four team, but I think at this point they're pretty much out.

I mean correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't they of had to be held out of the tournament anyways based on current NCAA protocols? They wouldn't meet the time required between a  positive test/tests and being able to play again anyways.
